anewprelusion 07-25-2014 01:44 AM

Don't want to jinx it, but I've been driving without it since Oct. 2013.

midnight23 07-25-2014 02:00 AM

never ran front plates.

midnight23 07-25-2014 02:06 AM

.

WesleyG 07-25-2014 02:08 AM

Is it not a legal requirement over there to have a front plate?

midnight23 07-25-2014 02:20 AM

it is a requirement, $25 ticket.

SP86 07-25-2014 02:26 AM

Neither of my cars have a plate in front

cpnslow 07-25-2014 02:41 AM

I've never had a front plate and haven't had an issue.

ChrisNcoronel 07-25-2014 02:55 AM

Well my professor who was a retired cop said that it's pointless for a front license plate. "It's not like we're going to drive backwards from the cops when they chase us." His exact words..

ImASandwich 07-25-2014 03:26 AM

Honestly the only reason i see front plates being "required" is for red light cameras.. You look at every state with only the rear plate, none of them have these cameras.

PLUS, its kinda pointless seeing how they're banning and removing these cameras all over socal. No camera = no front plate. my logic.

tfad_terrence 07-25-2014 03:57 AM

No front plate for me.

Half of the cars from where I live do not have front license plates in the front, especially the expensive ones. :O

raven1231 07-25-2014 04:10 AM

No plate for me

Lunatic 07-25-2014 07:39 AM

None of my cars have front plates, I live in Oregon half the year and southern CA. the other half. Never been pulled over.

Extreme Dimensions 07-25-2014 12:11 PM

i have one but i also have side tint and i drive a bright red 2 door sportscar lol

never get pulled over if you have one but if you dont have one expect it at least once a month

people are also going to car meets and coming back to their cars with no front plate tickets on their dash pretty messed up

dan_k 07-25-2014 12:46 PM

I drive with mine on. Just put it on permanently two weeks ago because in the past, I've gotten ticketed for no front plate while parked on the street in a couple cities. I've gotten over the clean look of the front of the car with no front plate in favor of less worries and problems (man, did I just say that? I must be getting old).

Extreme Dimensions 07-25-2014 12:50 PM

at least the frs/brz has a tow hook hole so you can buy the license plate tow hook holder

s13kid989 07-25-2014 01:24 PM

I never run a Front plate, and keep the paper plates untill I turn the lease back in usually.

It's just a $25 fix it ticket here.

Autocon 07-25-2014 01:58 PM

I run with no front plate as well. Only got a ticket for it once because the meter maids in Santa Monica are the biggest money grubbing pricks in the world and will give you a ticket for literately anything they can.

$25 for such a nice look is worth it imo. plus at work and at home I park in a garage so there is nothing cops can do there.

Pryz228 07-25-2014 02:17 PM

I live in jersey I got pulled over, the cop let me go but he said if he wrote me up it would of been 250 and mandatory court i quickly got the perrin relocate mount haha

I haven't had front plates on my vehicles for over 10 years....................until I got pulled over in my FR-S for not displaying my front plate. Fine would have been $75, but got off with a warning. Needless to say, plate mounts went on all my vehicles!

I live in Iowa and they've recently also required that the County designation listed on the bottom of the plate be visible and not covered up by a plate frame. This is total crap, and seems like an excuse to pull you over! What does this really matter if your plate is issued by the state anyway?

kdmBRZ 07-25-2014 08:36 PM

i drove without a front plate on my STi sedan for like good 7 months after I got the car then out of nowhere going home late at night, i get pulled over near my house - _ -....mabe it's cuz of the wing lol...he was on the opposite side of traffic in the alley street and he quickly turned around and followed me...so on my BRZ now i have the grimmspeed license plate relocation kit so i don't get pulled over.. :D...doesn't have wings, but you never know!

Choco 07-25-2014 10:01 PM

Had no plates for a long time after my Grimmspeed relocator broke. After having two tickets involving no front plate(My first no plate ticket cost $25 and had to show them the correction with local police department. Second time was a $61 parking ticket for no plate in front of my own house -_-). Got my front plate relocator fixed and back on now.

1GiantTurtle 07-25-2014 10:20 PM

if we obtain a new vehicle we have six months to obtain a plate in CA, so mines going on in october :)

Frers 07-26-2014 12:10 AM

Had the car for 2 months no front plate and no problems. My previous car had no front plate either for 3 years and never had a problem. And I live in Irvine where they have nothing else but ticket you for stupid things. I think if you don't give them a reason to pull you over they won't ticket it.

How is this even a thing?? Lots of people take off front plates for shows. I'd fight that so hard.

I haven't run a front plate on either BRZ, so not for the past two years, and I haven't gotten any tickets. But I also haven't been pulled over for any reason.

I'm with you on that. It's just not worth the hassle of being stopped and having to deal with the cop that pulled you over. If you are going to be pulled over it should be for exceeding the posted limit :D
And yes it appears you are getting old

BRZtoni 07-26-2014 11:16 AM

this thread should be removed, BAD OMEN!!!!!!!

on another note.. 6 years no problems..

rawrmatty 07-26-2014 12:28 PM

haha thanks everyone!

GotBRZ1691 07-26-2014 12:50 PM

Ive run with no front plate since I got the car. My house is on top of a hill and at the bottom of said hill there is a sheriffs stations. I pass atleast one sheriff a day and have not had any problems. Knock On Wood.

Turbo4 07-26-2014 01:06 PM

What's a front license plate???

ModBargains 07-26-2014 01:22 PM

I run without a front plate. never had a problem

Pekingduck 07-26-2014 02:37 PM

I think it depends on a couple of factor of why you would get pulled over. First if your car modified the peace officer would know that he would be able to give you at least one ticket. Another would be just to give a reason for the officer to pull you over. If he wants to be a grumpy officer he can pull you over for that reason. I think the biggest concern would be a ref ticket. That something for us modified crowd would try to completely avoid. I just put Perrin license plate relocator and have not been hassle by the police in regards to that.

diirk 07-26-2014 03:51 PM

No front plate

litemup 07-26-2014 03:56 PM

I drive without my front license plate. Otherwise it's too hard to hold the steering wheel.
