1st 86 registered in Queensland?

Hi all,

Just noticed this posted on Boostcruising. Anyone else heard anything here in Queensland?
I'm guessing this is the orange one mentioned in the other post?:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6758

In the post they quote prices of:
Base $35k + orc
Top of the range $43k + orc

Yeah we seen one pic.

Wonder which dealer this is at.

davey90 05-28-2012 08:10 AM

i might be able to pull out the location where this photo was taken, hopefully it's from a camera phone. Every photo taken by phones, or some SLR cameras contain hidden data embedded in the photo called "geo-tagging" Similar to a "MD5" or a "# tag" for the computer peeps (if any on this forum besides me). Depending on how much spare time @ work i have. I'll try work some magic and if i can get anything out of it:iono:

JiB 05-28-2012 08:15 AM

8k difference between GT and GTS is a little excessive

Nardi330 05-28-2012 08:31 AM

$8k is about the difference of G and GT Limited in Japan. (2.41m vs 2.97m yen)

FT-86 05-28-2012 08:36 AM

Top of the range $43k + orc
Top of the range $43k incl orc :)
Top of the range $40k incl orc  (I'm dreamin...)

davey90 05-28-2012 08:37 AM

Ok....weird....not sure if the phone date and time wasn't set probably or it was uploaded to the computer before hand and someone decides to post it now.... I've logged into work and ran a few queries. Um...it say's this photo was taken 2 months and 3 days from an Apple Platform meaning it was taken and uploaded by iPhone or Mac. =/ as for location i can't pull out since the photo has been passed around so the "geo-tagging" was lost, it showed me that the photo came from Facebook?
unless I get my hands on the original, i'll have a location.

Of course the boostcrusing crowd would hate the car... "I can by a $5000 silvia and I would beat the shit out of this car" mentality. Only a couple people on there that would understand what the car is about and even fewer(most likly not true... but still funny) that could afford it as Toyota wont accept a broken xbox and a 3m fish tank as payment.

JiB 05-28-2012 06:12 PM

hahahahahah... that was lols

JiB 05-28-2012 08:10 PM

me too. i have my price ceiling. so now it all depends on what we call affordable and what toyota calls "affordable"

davey90 05-28-2012 08:32 PM

:sigh:Me three....

Nafe 05-29-2012 02:20 AM

Cmon guys, how come EVERY thread has to turn in to a price speculation/whinge? Can’t we keep one thread that has cool pics as something a little more exciting

And here is a comment from Boostcurising

I would honestly much rather buy a second hand FG XR6 turbo, Not only would it slaughter this in a straight line (stock and modified) but the reliability is good, and aftermarket support is very good.

And if I hear anything about them not handling I'll come and take your jugular away from you. Coilovers, Swaybars and Tires, will make almost anything handle well.

I will be interested to see the Subaru version. In my oppinion Toyota messed up not having more power. Or failing that, not being cheap enough to be seen as a 'platform'
Typical...

Nardi330 05-29-2012 03:36 AM

Yup, spoken by people who think Mx5s are hairdressers car.... (which they are lol)

Nafe 05-29-2012 05:34 AM

A hairdressers car that handles and drives very well ;)
You guys driven one?? :P

Nardi330 05-29-2012 05:55 AM

I had one. Sold it as I need more than 2 seats....

Nafe 05-29-2012 06:51 AM

sweet. two seat is very impractical.
i just get sick of people ragging them out without driving them :P

heh lol exactly, they may be great handling and lots of fun, but yeah, an older guy at my work has one and we make fun of him for it constanly. I'm sure they handle great, but I don't want a convertible (btw think the 86 softtop prototype is ugly as sin).

so where was I, oh yeah, price... :bonk:

oh yeah, that guy banging on about getting an xr6 and beating the 86 in a straight line, he's welcome to drive down all the straight lines he wants, he can knock himself out. we'll be over here, going round corners.

This is one of the things i like about the 86/BRZ - it doesn't appeal to the bogans/fully sick wannabes. They look at the stats and just blow it away - which is great because i would love for this car to remain in the hands of educated people who have done countless hours (years?) of research and arrived at the conclusion that this car is for them (if the price is right). The last thing i want to see is 86s/BRZs lowered till they scrape the ground with 20" chrome rims and a deafening muffler. I've never driven an mx-5 but i'm sure people who drive them have the similar views - and i doubt they care about looking like hairdressers because the fun they are having far out weighs the fact that they look like panzies. So gentleman i say embrace your inner panzy! lol
:happy0180:

pr0j 05-29-2012 06:40 PM

lol sticky, I don't know about embracing my inner hairdresser but I do much prefer tackling the passes than driving on the highway.

mikedsilva 06-01-2012 04:25 PM

Spotting an 86

Pretty sure this is taken at Toyota Regional Headquarters for Queensland... Paradise Road, Acacia Ridge... they've got lots of cool old Toyota's there too..
I tried getting the official product trainer to swing past and let me take a look; he is under strict instruction that it must not be taken to any dealers. Only to the training at the Greek Club in West End and then back under lock and key...

pr0j 06-01-2012 06:23 PM

hmm, might be worth doing a driveby on the way to work, just in case.

won't be the first drive by at the greek club. zing! (ok sorry about that one already.)

Tradewind 06-02-2012 05:03 PM

In Mackay we have to wait until June 30 before any of these cars show up for the first time
