Esso Supreme +

I noticed today that the nearby Esso is now carrying 93 octane Supreme +. Has anyone found out if it's ethanol free? The pump has a sticker saying gas can contain up to 10% ethanol, but they don't specify per blend.

krayzie 07-24-2014 01:19 PM

It has ethanol I googled it long ago as someone emailed Esso to confirm.

7thgear 07-24-2014 01:30 PM

It has ethanol but I pump it anyway

car feels better after 2 years of Shell 91

Sport-Tech 07-24-2014 01:38 PM

BTW if you do big grocery buys at Loblaws or its affiliates: you now get a coupon for 2-12 cents/litre off your gas at Esso (varies with amount spent), coupon's on your receipt....

nocwage 07-24-2014 03:53 PM

Which stations have 93? The Esso website doesn't let you search by fuel type...

Hagbard 07-24-2014 07:21 PM

For Durham People this one has 93

Esso
1311 Harmony Rd N

Car feels better on 93 than it did after 2 years of using 91?

I'm on PetroU94 now, and I have to say, the car has less of a chance of studdering if I pull away with not enough throttle, and to me, the car pulls much harder when it comes on the power. I don't think it's plecebo because I rather collect Air miles, and the cost to me doesn't really matter, because I don't do enough driving. I basically drive hard twice per day on my 8km commute. I have a pretty good sense of what the car feels like at WOT, and to me, it feels better on the U94.

correct

and I will note that it feels better on Esso 93 than it did on Petro 94 for the few times that I used it when shell wasn't around.

which is why I stuck to Esso 93 after I gave it a try

also, no crickets

wparsons 07-25-2014 05:12 PM

I get better mileage on Shell 91 than Petro 94, but it definitely makes a bit more power with 94. For commuting I run 91, for track/autox I only run 94.

nocwage 07-25-2014 09:05 PM

Damn, I want this magical Esso juice to be available in Milton, the station is so close to me and we fill all the other cars there :(
The local Petro car wash is also terrible and the esso one 'decent' for an automatic touchless.

Did some loging with the new OFT Tunes first i put the 93 Tune on the Car running the new ESSO 93.

Right after the flash

The Next Day

I'm no log reading expert so feed back would be nice but i decided to put the 91 tune on the car with the esso 93 then.

Next thing ill try once i run the 93 out of the car will be 94 and the 93 Tune again,

Just really trying to get a better idea of the gas we have around here now, since the 93 has only been around for a few months now, Anyone that can read logs and comment would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I just tried Esso 93 in my car. It generates the same sounds (crickets and some brupples) as Petro 94. Not sure about the performance benefits as well. I'll keep using it for now just for the aeroplan points, lol.

Where did you get a 93 tune for the OFT?

jvincent 07-29-2014 08:35 PM

Comes with the 2.0 maps that were released on Friday. Dedicated 91 and 93 tunes.

drewbot 07-30-2014 12:57 AM

Anyone try out Costco gas? Possibly on OFT or Torque to check for IAMs?

I drive by one everyday, and to save almost $0.10/L is impressive.

I have a cosco card so ill try and remember and log there 91 on the 91 tune

wparsons 07-30-2014 12:57 PM

I've switched to 94 only now (well, second tank). I was getting a ton of knock in the midrange (2500-3500rpm) and when stuck in traffic on a 91 octane tune with Shell 91. Since flashing to the 93 octane tune and running Petro 94, I have almost zero knock (even with AC on in traffic).

Less knock, pulls stronger, I'll deal with the crickets :D

Nice i was hoping to end up on 94 with the 93 tune! and i don't care about the crickets, the 2 stroke tc-w3 with very little per tank seems to take care of that for me.

jvincent 07-30-2014 01:06 PM

I've never had issues with Esso 91.

Chibikuma 08-01-2014 11:30 PM

Esso at Elgin Mills & Leslie has 93 Supreme+ if anyone around that area. :)

1Cor10:23 09-23-2014 04:37 PM

Anyone have some numbers / longer term analysis on U94 vs Esso 93+? V-Power 91 is out of the question for me, not enough knock resistance but I am curious about 93+ supreme...currently on U94.

Been running Esso 93 for the past 3 fills. Work fine, a little less milage. 19 cents above base price. Promotion going on right now I think? 8x aeroplan?

Getting better mileage on mines so far. Will wait to deplete tank before commenting.

8X extra on EssoPoints. Totally worth it - thats almost a free cash wash (499 or 599 Points Luxury wash) everytime you fill up. I'll be saving those for winter. :)
