Best Drop In Filter

What is the best drop in filter?

OICU812 07-21-2014 02:14 AM

Put that into the search engine "many" threads come up..

I am pretty satisfied with my apexi filter. Gives a more pronounced induction noise.

I got the HKS because I don't want to oil my filter, and because it looks pretty.

The majority is probably going to say K&N because that's the only filter company they know, and that's what all their friend suggested.

AFE dryflow works for me.

I've got the Perrin and it's nice.

I would just buy the BRZ STi turbo kit off of Amazon. It's OEM so it'll be fine.

Do you only need to rinse this with water?

It's a joke. A long time ago Works released an air filter and claimed it made +10hp. Needless to say the community was very skeptical and we spent 2 weeks arguing with mods closing threads left and right.

GotBRZ1691 07-21-2014 09:22 PM

Haha I figured. Its not a bad looking filter but its pretty expensive.

There are tons of data all over the net on flow comparisons between wet, dry, foam, paper and cotton gauze filters. Do the research and judge for yourself. I run a K&N, and I have only run K&Nd in my rotary race cars for the past 15 years.

perrin filter made the car feel great after getting the old and very dirty filter out. Guess i was back to stock power level.

I have a K&N filter. Its a filter, it does its job. I didn't really notice much in the way of power.

BolognaWalrus 07-21-2014 10:49 PM

I have a K&N, installed it a few days ago, makes a weird "whistle" noise around 6400 rpm. might go back to stock.

Are you sure you installed it correctly? You have to take the whole air box out basically to really get it seated right.

As far as I know it is, I took it out twice to re-seat it. I did remove the entire thing, made things easier. I'll have to look at it again later.

I agree, totally satisfied, for the money well worth it. Used it with a Mishi intake tube
