anyone else love APR GT3 Mirrors ????

I know I do :) and it will be one of the first mods on my FRS or BRZ. Yes it may sound crazy and yes it may be weird, but i love them, and think they look fantastic, especially on the frs/brz. 1. they will save you a good 20-40lbs, 2. they look amazing 3. carbon fiber adds 10hp 4. i personally feel like they end up providing more field of view with the Wide Angle Convex Mirror Lenses 5. they reduce drag? lol no matter what they DO... I love the love and will enjoy them on my ride......anyone else? Also anyone have any pics of any 86/frs/brz with APR mirrors?

Looking badass on the gazoo rally car

20-40lbs? You must expect the mirrors to be really heavy.

ESBjiujitsu 05-27-2012 09:11 PM

just speaking in rough numbers but as you can see im not really in it for the performance benefits as i just love the mirrors lol

I like the way those mirrors look but I just like the all around touring car appearance on the picture you posted.

Forget the mirrors, I want those front quarter-window vents.

If you wanna go rough number, replacing those mirrors only gonna save you 5~10 lbs max.

Anyways, yes those mirrors looks nice

how could i forget the TRD N1 86!!!!

Hanakuso 05-27-2012 10:59 PM

I'm guessing they would save more like 3-5 pounds for both. Btw I'm guessing the Gazoo 86 is using craftsquare mirrors. Craftsquare are popular within Japan and usually have those triangular shaped insides

One thing I like about old German touring cars is that the factory race cars typically used the same or very similar mirrors as the road car. Since those are my automotive routes, I've just never understood changing mirrors. The racers didn't see a reason to change them, so why should I? Which makes me wonder, what benefit are they getting out of these mirrors? Wider view?

Little bit less drag/weight. Big teams can afford it easily. The cost for the mirrors is probably cheaper then what they need to pay all there employees for 10 minutes

Yeah, definitely CS mirrors.

Don't mess with the APR ones, I had the unfortunate experience of having to drive a car with them and they're junk. The mount is incredibly cheap in the design and the top bolt constantly comes loose so the mirror can move (or fall off) and the manner in which they actually mount to the car is very ditsy.

in a tube like the FRS you really want bigger side mirrors

while these look awesome i think they might hinder your awareness on the streets.

ESBjiujitsu 05-28-2012 03:36 PM

i have had no problems with APRs in the past but I am going to investigate these craft square mirrors thanks for the tips. also i love the wide view they offer and the fact that they take up minimal field of view as well. Just a personal preference I guess :) I also like blue tint mirrors as well :)

They are usually more convex then OEM. Smaller view up and down but you can see more side by side. They also have an option for blue tint. Helps a little at night

I've never been good with mirrors that distort more to get a bigger field in a smaller package.

SioXie101 05-29-2012 04:20 PM

if you go for the race car look, then why not but i never been a fan of these mirrors.
the added benefits of it being lightweight and more lateral visibility is a plus though.

merlin2111 05-30-2012 08:02 PM

I have very similar mirrors on my Miata and have never had a problem with FOV. Mine are much lower quality than these are so I am sure these will be even better. I will probably get a set a little down the line. It won't be a priority but if I see them in the For Sale section for a decent price I would pick them up.

Hello Toyobaru,

The Mirrors pictured in this thread are not APR (USA) carbon mirrors.

They are in fact CRAFTSQUARE (Japan) carbon fiber mirrors and are available for order.

Please let us know if you would like more information.

Best Regards,
Team Bulletproof

This is my take on the mirrors.

I adapted some convex GT racing mirrors on my own for MUCH less cost than ready to bolt on aftermarket ones....
