Snoopyalien24 07-17-2014 05:54 PM

It does have some tastefull mods, but not worth $52k, more like $40k..

BTW, why is there a thread for this?

Wheels on their own: Gram Lights 57 extreme are like $1,600

and Turbo, CF and Labor of having it done seem like a good round number of $40k.

I am not going to buy it nor is any sane person lol. Especially at $52k :bonk:

Even 40K for a riced out BRZ is insanity. This thing is worth it's it's resale value, tops. Maybe lower due to mods.

AdrianG 07-17-2014 06:12 PM

Yeah... 99% of the time mods don't do anything for your resale value but hurt it. This is no exception.

Sniper2606 07-17-2014 06:13 PM

I really hope the seller is trolling.

This cannot be serious, i refuse to believe

DarkSunrise 07-17-2014 06:16 PM

Is it just me, or is there a trend of FI owners selling their cars off soon after putting in the turbo/SC.

Myv 07-17-2014 06:16 PM

No one will pay $52k for that, but maybe owner is just gauging interest or seeing if he can luck out on a sale  Are there free listing periods on ebay?

The price is insane, yes. But how is this riced out to you? The carbon fiber hood is not my favorite, but everything else looks nice. I see no rice.

2015 wrx/sti came out.

s2d4 07-17-2014 06:24 PM

Wet carbon that serves absolutely no other purpose than looking "nice" is rice.

husker741 07-17-2014 06:26 PM

Ruh roh, s2d4 commented. I'm guessing it's something targeted at my post? Oh well, IGNORED.

AznBRZer 07-17-2014 06:28 PM

There's an ebay invite-only promotion where you list your car to enter a lottery to win a 2015 WRX STi Launch Edition. I considered listing mine for $100k just to enter.

Jonsey 07-17-2014 06:33 PM

I wonder if he ever saw the failed ebay auction for the SEMA built car that couldn't sell for a whole lot less.

krayzie 07-17-2014 06:55 PM

That's some serious riced up shit.

Sniper2606 07-17-2014 06:56 PM

Turbo kit and Gram lights got my approval.

Everything else, shit

Border7 07-17-2014 07:16 PM

It is quite interesting to sit here and just read people talking shit about some poor guy who is just posting his car on eBay for a little too much because maybe he is still attached to it and really does not want to sell it.:sigh:

Ocean-Grown 86 07-17-2014 07:41 PM

One simply does not pay $52k for a Subaru

BRZ21 07-17-2014 07:43 PM

That's not what this about... ^
That car is worth exactly what a stock one is worth, more likely less...

That's why everyone parts out before selling...

I hate to be such a party pooper but that car is probably really worth $22k...
And that's not a mean thing to say.

GMU-BRZ 07-17-2014 07:53 PM

Gotta be a typo. $25k. Right?

Right?

... Right? :(

Agreed - mods, no matter how tasteful, drop the value of a vehicle below stock. I nearly got roped in to overpaying for a blacked-out, lowered Mk4 Jetta and came to my senses just in the nick of time (both at the fact that I would be overpaying for mods that I happened to like, and to the fact that I was about to buy a VW with a 1.8T engine... the horror!).

Good luck to the seller, maybe he'll hit the jackpot, but more realistically it'll be a life lesson.

extrashaky 07-17-2014 09:49 PM

And the winner is:

Folks, this guy has no intention of trying to sell this car. eBay is running a sweepstakes. The grand prize is that new WRX STi.

If you add a car to your eBay "garage," you get an entry in the sweepstakes. If you "share" your garage you get another entry. If people view your car, you get another entry for each view.

If you list your car on eBay for sale, you get additional entries. Obviously a lot of people would like to have those extra entries but don't really want to sell their cars. So there are a LOT of really overpriced cars on eBay Motors right now, where people have listed their cars at ridiculous prices to get the sweepstakes entries while making sure they don't actually sell their cars.

chaoskaze 07-17-2014 10:24 PM

NO BLUE ENGINE COVER? FAIL

btw op your avatar is pure sex! (right click right click)

Cliu91 07-17-2014 10:29 PM

What you see here is "intrinsic value". This car probably means alot to him, and he's factoring in all the blood, sweat, and tears into this price. Result? An absolutely ludicrous price for this car.

But, I'm not surprised considering the amount of people who freak out about the residual value of the car once they drive it off the lot. Cars are NOT investments!

IMO if you want to preserve the value of the car decades down the road (basically keeping it like a future classic car), you can "mod" but strictly off the factory optional parts and accessories catalog / factory performance parts catalog, specifically for that car model. Overtime, these parts become the most rare and sought after, since they were usually overpriced to many people during the products' lifespan. Keep a copy of these factory catalogs to validate the mods. One can go one step further and make sure everything on the car (trim parts, down to the nuts and bolts) is current for that specific model year.

Then maybe one day the car will make the magazine cover of Nostalgic Hero.

I guess you can argue that's not really modding since everything technically remains OEM. :D

Poodles 07-18-2014 12:25 AM

Another person that thinks what they paid to have the car built is what the car is worth. Labor doesn't count, EVER.

edeekeos 07-18-2014 01:21 AM

All $ figures aside, I'm still trying to figure out how some of you find it 'rice'.

Had it been posted as a build thread on here, you all would have been nuttin bricks all over each other. amiright?

Totally agree. No one wants to buy someone elses project car. Most the fun is in building them. Maybe some kid with daddy's money will get it. That's all I could imagine

Full interior CF trim kit shouldn't be more than $500.
