We had 7 or 8 twins out there this past weekend and it was a great turn out! Hope to see all of you out there again. It was about 100 degrees and everyone stayed till the end. The estimated temp for August 9th is 89 degrees so it should be a nice day!

Isn't this the place that was on 'Drifting with the Stars' and it's basically a go-kart/moto track and about one lane wide?

Correct this was the course that ft86speedfactorys car was on. I'd say it's about one and half wide. Two lane wide on the straight away for passing.

Feeler: Private run group for both drift and grip

I'm interested in doing a run group for both drifting and grip. I'm thinking we'll do half the day drifting and half grip and I think it'll be best if we're all doing the same thing at the same time. That way we have separate sessions to do drifting things like tandem or whatever and have other separate sessions to set lap times or even grip battles (which are a lot of fun). It'll also be better so that we can drive as hard as possible, with less risk. In other words, we'll do 2 (or so) drift sessions and 2 (or so) grip sessions.

If anyone's interested, please PM me with your name, what car you'll be driving, and email so I can notify the organizers. We need 4-6 people!

So far we have:
Brenton (White FR-S)
Frank (Black FR-S)

LXXXV1 08-04-2014 11:21 PM

Psych, fuck it yolo I signed up with 2 friends. Let's do this!

midnight23 08-06-2014 02:32 AM

7 spots left, 4 days away!

See you guys there! I'll be in a White Monogram with just over 2k miles. Remember to watch the Drift Bible on youtube.

You'll be the 2nd white monogram.

This will be my first drift event. Any tip guys? I heard it's recommended to do an oil change before, don't park with your ebrake, reverse headrest to make room for helmet.

Any recommended tire pressure for drift vs grip?

One of the staff members drifts his stock BRZ. They will give you tips/ride-along if you ask them when you get there. I'm not a drifter so I can't give any good tips other than bring spare tires if you're going all out and a tire pressure gauge always. Lots of water too it's a dessert out there.

Edit - check all your fluids the morning of the event before you warm up your car.

Touge86 08-08-2014 04:48 PM

Anyone have an open run group that I could hop in for grip?

Mobbing out by myself :O.

I drift my mostly stock FR-S. It does plenty well, but I would suggest upgrading transmission and diff oil for sure. Engine oil helps too and open your hood after each session. (Keep an eye on your oil temps). You'll probably want to bring spare tires as well and make sure to let the tires cool if you get a good chain going. Otherwise they'll start chunking real bad if you overheat them. I'll be running 35 psi front and 45 psi rear. You can play around with that at the track since tire pressures are highly subjective and change regardless (with heat and all).

You can probably get in with rb6 and I. We can make adjustments when we arrive

Touge86 08-09-2014 03:17 PM

Sorry guys, couldn't make it out =(. Spent all day yesterday installing a wilwood front BBK and didn't even get a chance to bed them in until late last night. Apple Valley is 2 1/2 hours from me =/.

Will be at streets August 16th though!

GL and have fun mina-san.

Haha. Come for a ride along next time you'll enjoy my super late braking ;-)

I only did 1:10's on Saturday. Did a 1:09 last month. Hopefully next time I'll hit 1:08! @midnight23 doesn't know as he wasn't recording. I'm willing bet his were faster.
