Car of the Month recognition?
 

Has there been any type of Car of the Month type competitions.. just thinking of this seeing all the wicked cars in the picture threads. Maybe the winner can get like a featured post on the front page of FT86club.com with a link to their build thread. Think id give people more motivation to take some awesome pictures! Possible even help with getting featured in magazines too, just a thought though.

This always went over pretty well when I was on projectlancer.

I think this would be a great addition to ft86club to show off some really nice rides

There should be a nomination thread every month with a different theme (best interior, best wheel/brake combo, best blue/red/orange, best FI, best NA, etc)
And the members with the most nomination get a poll that we can all vote on.

We had the same thing on clubrsx.com and it was great

we could also hold a pic contest. Like every month or week we hold a theme for the pic. And we can vote on best pic and the winner gets to pick the next theme.

Boom, look at these ideas! This is such a huge site, with a vast range of modifications. Some to the extreme and others keeping it classy, would be nice to see it all come together and have a friendly competition against each other. Key word being friendly lol..

Be careful this can easy go from tastefully modified/enhanced to all out rice.

Everyone can put their car in for entry.. doesn't matter if only rims are put on it. Or they have a rocket bunny with an LS1 in it... the people would vote. Thats the beauty of something like this.

i think there should be two catagories. sponsered/shop cars and personal/no sponsor cars. not fair to pit large budget cars to ones where the owner has to save up

Hmmm, i dont know about that. Most shop cars are race car types and from what I have seen dont seem to win these type of competitions all that much. Just what im thinking though. You also gatta look at it like this too. A rich person to a poor person, you cant devide catagories just based on money wise. It is afterwhile a competition.

You could divide the competition between the actual cars just based on which people prefer and have another poll for like "artistic" entries. Let the editors and photo-shoppers have some fun too and get some cool wallpaper quality pics out of it too!!

Well photoshoppers can do whatever they want, if people rate cars off the rest of the picture then the car is falsely evaluated.

I agree with this...we used to do this on the OZ Mr2 owners club forum.
It started off just cars (interior, wheels/brakes, etc) then ended up just going completely random (ie. liquid, smoke, miniature, etc).

The winner picked the next theme, and there were prizes too...ranging from forum stickers, shirts, key chains, etc all the way to sometimes where a sponsor would chime in and offer up either merchandise or sometimes even stock (ie we had one person win a swaybar) when they wanted too.

While a MOTM idea is great, the above two suggestions just becomes a popularity contest.

I think nominations need to be based on contribution to the community, not just who has the best pics. Because there's a lot of people with great photos of their cars, but not so much on contribution.

Althought i think it was a good idea, i don't know if it will work out so easily. As in, how do you know if said person actually contributed, and how many contributions must you make.. what are contributions.. etc etc..

I think rules should just be plain and simple.

1. Only one vote per month per person
2. 3 images per entry
3. You can't win consecutively ( back to back months )
4. No photo manipulation except for contrast
5. You can't prod for votes
6. You can't vote for yourself
7. Images must be clear and of good quality
8. You must have 30 posts to vote
9. Photos must be entered before the 1st of each month.
10. Votes must be cast through the 1st to the 25th
11. You can't use the same picture in back to back months
12. A full mod list must be supplied with your entry


And i was thinking maybe we can have 12 different winners and do like a calender and the end of the year?

And the prize is...?

Thats for the mods and owners of this website and forums to decide.. im just a dude with an idea lol. Itd be awesome to create a calander with the 12 winners though. Maybe the proceeds can go to an event or to helping the site..

Why you gotta make it so complicated?
In the voting thread, put one picture of the car (Like an introduction), with a link to their show-off/progress thread.
That way people see the whole scope of the car.

In any case, it's just some internet fun - it doesn't matter if it becomes a popularity contest or not. Just my 0.02
