2014 SCCA Solo Nationals/Pro Solo Finale thread

Early registration for the Solo Nationals ends August 1st and then they jack
up the entry fee. So you have about three weeks to decide whether you want
to join 1100+ of your closest autocrossing buddies for a fun filled week in
beautiful Lincoln Nebraska! :D

Come for the competition, come for the cool cars, come for the friendships you
make, come for the paddock parties, come for the unpredictable weather.*
Just come!

The Twins have a good number of entries in CS and STX but I know of a few
people who have not registered yet.

The pilgrimage to the Solo Nationals is a bucket list must do for any autocrosser
and there is no time like the present.

I'll be there bringing up the rear in CS. I hope to see you there too.

eric

(*) Nobody goes to lincoln for the weather. I just threw that in for grins 'n giggles...

AustinTX 07-10-2014 09:03 AM

In for the CS battle!

7thgear 07-10-2014 09:03 AM

1100?

AustinTX 07-10-2014 09:36 AM

Typical turnout for nationals is 1100+ entries. We haven't hit 1200 yet, but we've been close.

7thgear 07-10-2014 10:31 AM

holy fuck

wouldn't want to be the last guy on THAT list.

forwallblakmail 07-10-2014 10:43 AM

It is unofficially the largest motorsport event in the US. Probably pretty high up there worldwide.

I know a group of our Canadian talent goes down there, and they said it was quite large, I just never paid attention to the actual number.

that's pretty amazing.

I'll probably make the trek in 2015, I want to see where the c-stock/stx and street/r-comp philosophies end up going.

2superblus 07-10-2014 12:16 PM

In for STX #8

itzmik3 07-10-2014 12:26 PM

i will be there competing in STX

chucky12012 07-10-2014 02:22 PM

#12 in CS

Jawnathin 07-10-2014 07:21 PM

Good luck to all. Maybe I'll make the adventure one day.

Very curious to see how the twins do in CS and STX this year.

It actually IS officially the largest Motorsport competition in the world based on entries. Right now the plan is to be in town Sunday night through Thursday AM.

Registered in CS, my codriver sounds like he is going to jump ship to ESP to go play with his new-to-him Camaro instead.

ViperASR 07-14-2014 09:17 AM

I'll be there in C-Street. #87

Sccabrz192 07-14-2014 03:32 PM

Looks like we are going to have a mini-CS competition over at the practice course on Monday! Holy wow I think half the class is registered for at least 1 set of 4 runs!

AustinTX 07-14-2014 04:02 PM

In for mini-nats as well. Of course, I'm gonna sandbag with that many people watching :)

heh

do you think psychological warfare works when you've only got 3 runs to get it done?

I suppose when you're at the highest level you can afford to play mind games, I generally have enough trouble keeping my mind focused let alone trying to Jedi-fuck someone else. :)

AustinTX 07-14-2014 04:36 PM

Just joking, of course. I only know one speed - as fast as I can go. That, plus Spokes does a practice course national champion thing every year (jacket and all). I lost last year by 0.0xx :(

Scooby South 07-14-2014 04:38 PM

Still on the fence for Nats for me this year. I have school starting (last Semester) on the same days I would be running. not sure If I can afford to miss class especially since attendance counts. Got emails into my instructors. Having done 7 National events this year..(by the time Nats rolls around) I would love to see if I could win.. We'll see

I picked a time slot with no other CS competitors. ;)

Hopefully I can make it into the Pro finale though, that'll be my real practice. Monday is my birthday so if I have a very good night I won't be very useful most of the day...

Simmons 07-14-2014 06:53 PM

I will be there for the Pro Finale, and Nationals in STX

tigermack 07-14-2014 07:47 PM

Don't know if I am going yet.

raul 07-15-2014 09:12 AM

I haven't registered yet, but I'm really considering going. I'm in South Florida. Not looking forward to a 1000+ mile drive.

SubiePig 07-15-2014 09:27 AM

#121 STX with co-driver (another darn GT-Academy finalist). Coming for those trophy spots. :)

It is a good time and something everyone should do at least once.

So I've heard!

piknockout 07-16-2014 09:10 AM

Signed up for SSR in a C6 Grand Sport. This gonna be fun. Looking at the list, CS has quite a few entries, great to see! This is yours to lose John, don't screw it up! Trying not to have any expectations for running in SSR, but I know that's hard to avoid. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :D

Now signed up in CS as well, #81

Remember those mind games discussed above? It's never too early to start...even if you're in a different class.

Kido1986 07-17-2014 08:36 AM

I'll be there, stinking up the back of the HUGE pack.

I'd kill for a trophy though..

DylanFRS 07-17-2014 09:10 AM

I'll be there, in CS. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

bimmer635csi 07-17-2014 01:09 PM

I just got an email that Paddock reservations open tomorrow.

I'm not going, but thought y'all might want to know.

whataboutbob 07-18-2014 04:34 PM

#86 SM, first time out to the Nats.

tigermack 07-18-2014 06:24 PM

Just signed up... STX here I come...

Sccabrz192 07-19-2014 08:57 AM

Well, my car is up for sale.

If I still have it then, I'll be driving it at nationals, if not... TBD.

AustinTX 07-19-2014 04:28 PM

Going back to the Solstice?

Kido1986 07-19-2014 04:50 PM

Mine will be up for sale post nationals too, if anyone knows anyone interested in a prepped CS car in the southeast (since everyone here already has a car in this game haha)

I want to play with some quicker cars. I miss torque and moving to a C5Z is much cheaper than dumping money into a car while it further depreciates.
