LFA JR. -- My Whiteout FRS BUILD

-- Boost T-Minus 2 WEEKS :) -- That is all

Hey guys I'm Ben from Chicago and this is my FRS build. I will be taking things slowly upgrading aesthetics and performance until the warranty expires at which point I will be going the Forced Induction route. I am a 19 year old college student working construction in my free time and the summers, been saving for this car since last year! This is my first stick shift car but i have been riding motorcycles for a while so this should be interesting.

I plan on doing track days, autocross and maybe even a few drift days with this car, all the mods apart from aesthetic stuff will be to help me perform better in these events as well as prepare & provide a solid platform for when I go forced induction.
Anyways,

Perrin 3" Cold Start
[ame]http://youtu.be/X0imPlkPnmI[/ame]

I plan on keeping this car classy and simple, and practical, not super low as i do live in pothole capitol chicago lol.

Had my buddy who does some amateur photography take some pics an edit them, I'm pretty pleased with how my baby Melanie came out.

Thanks for tuning in!

My perrin 3" catback exhaust came in yesterday. Picked it up at Touge Factory, highly reccomend these guys.

Cant wait to install it and see how it sounds!!!

Cusco Rear Strut Bar finally went in because i had some time to make everything look nice and flush, had to trim the OEM styrofoam tool kit and cut some channels into the carpet but im pleased with the result.
http://i59.tinypic.com/2ijq2af.jpg

Matte Black Toyota Badges went on as well
http://i59.tinypic.com/23h3n8x.jpg

I want to get these fenders so bad, but my budget only permits so many upgrades a month.
http://i57.tinypic.com/vrg2tg.jpg

Finally heres a cool picture of my car and my cousins LS2 'vette. I call this one beauty and the beast haha
http://i60.tinypic.com/16lfaj6.jpg

#maverick# 07-12-2014 07:54 PM

Finally got the Exhaust installed.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of the product, the welds are superb. The sound is even better. I cannot find words to describe how pleased I am with the sound. Its very tame around 2-3.5k rpm but once you start to throttle, oh boy does it let you know its there. I was surprised at how deep and pleasant the tone is, not ricerish (for lack of better word) at all. The 4" tips also fill in the holes in the rear valence quite well.

Here is a quick video of a Cold start-up. I will uploading more videos/pictures as soon as my phone charges.

Sweet pm your fb and we can meet up at TF one day and cruise haha

Steeze_Its 07-13-2014 02:08 AM

For that snapped stud... Idk what the hell your friend was using to tighten that nut but it was wayyyyyyy to tight lol. I personally have never looked at it but its probably removed through the strut tower area on top of the fender liner. You can probably pound it out and put a new one in (I would imagine so)

Steeze_Its 07-14-2014 02:44 AM

Considering those bolts are only supposed to be torqued to 12 ft lbs, yeah, it doesn't take much.

Yeap figured as much. Lesson learned everything to torque spec, better to not work on the car if you dont have the right tools from the beginning.

As promised one more exhaust video, drive by exhaust vid coming soon.

Stay tuned, more goodies coming in this week!

#maverick# 07-31-2014 12:16 AM

Package came in
http://i59.tinypic.com/120nuo9.jpg

Ready for my 1k mile oil change. Was reccomended amsoil by a friend so i went with them. I will also be sending my oil for analysis to blackstone labs.
I will be doing a diff and tranny fluid change at 1500 miles, i will be going with motul 300 for those!

#maverick# 08-01-2014 12:14 AM

Dyno Graph as promised. This is with only the perrin 3" catback

http://i59.tinypic.com/2mxiow4.jpg

#maverick# 08-18-2014 12:10 AM

Finally got my CUSCO intake tube & cosworth drop-in filter installed. The difference is definitely noticeable in the peppiness of the car.
Also those ugly ass yellow caps in the engine bay had to go, so i grabbed some blue engine bay enamel and went to work on them.
http://i57.tinypic.com/2zgdkp1.jpg

As for an update on how my experience with learning stick shift is coming along, I am no longer afraid of being stopped on hills haha. Starts are still a little harder to be quick and smooth, but nonetheless better than the first month LOL. 2nd gear shifts are getting smoother as well. I got rev matching learned pretty well into every gear except 2nd haha so difficult for me to get that one well, also ive started dabbling into a little heel & toe and it definitely takes a little getting used to but apart from all that im pretty happy with my progress and i hope i continue to get better.

#maverick# 08-26-2014 01:10 AM

Catless Front Pipe came in today. I ordered the cheapest i could find, its just a piped after all.
J2 Catless front pipe:

http://i62.tinypic.com/33u4lqc.jpg

So stoked to get this one on. Ive also been setting money aside out of every weeks paycheck for a flex fuel kit so look for that in the near future!

#maverick# 09-04-2014 11:55 PM

My car made some friends at school haha

http://i58.tinypic.com/2uhwtag.jpg

#maverick# 09-18-2014 08:05 PM

Installed the catless frontpipe

[ame]http://youtu.be/eEZmjG5t5L8[/ame]

[ame]http://youtu.be/trwUj8ikKew[/ame]

I also installed the whiteline shifter bushings as well as the energy suspension rear shifter bushings. This along with a trans and diff fluid swap with motul gear 300 has made the shifting almost silky smooth.

I highly reccomend the above mods, all of them can be done for under 100 bucks and will totally change how the shifting feels. I'm ecstatic about it!

Update: Kit is taking a little longer than expected due to the holidays and the powder coaters dragging ass. Ordered a south bend stage 3 endurance clutch with a stage 2 flywheel, which I also found out is backordered until after the new year. And the car is now in the garage chilling on jack stands waiting to go under the knife :D
