Missed the last one.. Making a 6-hour drive to the Annual 86 Day Run on the 9th but I'll see if I can sneak this meet in too.

Just a heads up, this is the same time as Kaboom town (the fireworks display in Addison) so traffic is gonna be nuts!

Indeed it is. Looks like Kaboom Town starts at 5pm so it may not be all that bad at 7pm. It would all depends on where your coming from to get to this meet. 9:30pm is when the fireworks go off. So we are in the middle of the action between the start of the event and the start of the fireworks.

We had a fireworks show a few days ago in Allen and every street in a 3 mile radius was packed including parking lots. Tens of thousands of people showed up (maybe 50k-70k?) with streets getting packed 6-7 hours before the fireworks went off.

Do you know how popular or large Kaboom Town is? and if the all the streets and parking lots will be jammed?

Wish I could make it to this one. 5 people are on vacation this week though so my schedule is all mixed up. One of these days I'll make it out again.

I do not. Trying to change the location of the meet this close would create issues. I know some people that attend the meet do not check this forum for updates. Also some don't check the forum every week/day so we would miss people that way as well.

I know a place that would could have the meet and not have any of the issues of Kaboom Town but changing the location at this time might be rather problematic.

The location I would be moving it to would be the parking lot at:

Plano, TX 75093

Several restaurants around for food and no mess with the Addison traffic either. I need more people to agree to the change of location to commit to it.


You do realize that this meet is a month before the 86 meet in San Antonio right? There will be one right before the 86 meet in San Antonio but like I said that still another month away.

Yeah, I had mixed up my months.

In regards to kaboomtown, this year they decided to sell tickets so not just anybody can show up. I think they did that so that they COULD control the crowd to an extent.

At Jumpstreet? Kaboomtown is the largest fireworks display around. There will be tons of people, although mostly on the other side of the DNT....and the problem with the tickets, is they will limit the number of people to Addison Circle only, so everyone else will try to find a different spot to watch the show

Yeah that parking lot would be a good spot if we had to move the meet. Several of the resturants on that side of DNT are having events for this and taking up parking lots for music and what not. So we might have an issue with parking but I cant say for sure. Anyone else wanna move the meet due to Kaboom Town?

I worked in that area for a few years. We should be fine at out location. Most people will be on the other side of the DNT. There is also a great big parking lot all around Walmart where Preston Wood Mall was that people would use. If coming up from Dallas, people should take Montfort or Preston Rd to the meet location. If coming from the North, exit the tollway before Beltline at Keller Springs or Arapaho and go down Montfort to the meet location or take Preston to Beltline to the location. Whatever you do not use Beltline exit on the DNT.

Here is a map to beat any traffic. The dark green route avoids any traffic.

I was thinking that most people would be on the other side of DNT and to use side roads instead of DNT to get there.

So far the meet is still going to be in the normal location. Make sure to use the map that was provided above for traffic free areas.

They close exits and stuff at the DNT. Also the exits can back up onto the main lanes. Last year at certain times the exits for that area were closed and you had to keep going south on DNT towards Apha and 635. I was traveling from North of there at the time. Stay away from DNT /Beltline/ Arapaho and the intersections label "no".

Good luck getting to the meet spot. As I've stated before, this year KaboomTown sold tickets and people will not be allowed into the event without one. That being said, restaurants nearby will fill up fast and early. They also plan on shutting down exits off DNT and Belt Line as well.
