Nissan 2020 vs Toyota FT-1 vs Acura NSX
Nissan just took the covers off of its 2020 concept yesterday. Many believe this is a preview of the next R36 GT-R. The Toyota FT-1 is widely speculated to be the next Supra. Lastly we have the NSX concept which is pretty self explanatory. Which one do you like better? Also remember to vote in the polls.

Nissan tried to go Lamborghini...and failed. NSX has the engine in the right place, it gets my vote.
|
FT-1 gets my vote. I'm a huge fan of the long hood and short deck look.
|
FT-1. The look of the NSX already seems dated to me. The Nissan looks like a batmobile reject.

Even if they are concepts at the moment (I know the Acura will supposedly be made, but I'll wait until it's in showrooms), I'm happy that this conversation exists... The Acura looks a bit too much like an R8 to me, not that's an entirely bad thing, but something about it lacks passion to me. The Nissan would be my pic, if they made it exactly like the pictures, but we know they totally won't. So I guess my pic is the Toyota?
|
FT-1 has many body line characteristics of the Enzo. It gets my vote.
|
Honestly, I don't like any of them that much. However, if I had to chose between two ugly cars and an R8 clone with an Acura badge on the front, I'd have to go with the R8 (oh, sorry, NSX...).
|
i dont think the toyota is going to be in the same league as the other two. its probably for the best. i wouldnt mind if toyota just ignored competition and just made cars with fun as a priority depite the world becoming consumed with nurburg lap times.

FT-1: $60k (hinted by Kevin Hunter) NSX: $100k+ R36 GT-R: $100k+ |
This group might be a little biased.
|
Lol I was the only who voted or the Nissan 2020. I just want a faster GTR and a new design.

If I had to pick it would be the FT-1 but I personally don't really like any of them to be honest.
|
I've got a soft spot for Hondas, but...
FT-1 NSX <big gap> Nissan 2020 The Nissan is just so ugly, and looks like the visibility will be awful. |
NSX is great looking and will be faster, but for me it is FMR layout, so FT1.
|
FT1 gets my vote. NSX already looks dated.
|
I chose the FT-1. However, I'm jut glad our hopes of a Supra and NSX return is being fulfilled. Plus, Nissan probably continuing another GT-R successor instead of dropping the ball instead making money making boring cars. Makes me wanna cry.....They care about us! They really do!
|
Mid engine. Nsx gets my vote.
|
^surprise surprise :p
|
NSX. 1) probably going to be built in Ohio (if our backwater-ass government doesn't screw it up) and 2) Strongly hinted it would be a hybrid. Green Supercars FTW!
|
Mid engine ftw
|
The Nissan looks like it doesn't have a clear idea of what it wants to be. It's too scattered with no single design concept. The current GT-R is much closer to the original GT-R as far as design and heritage goes; this one is a jumbled mess.
The Acura is beautiful, but it could have come out in 2005 and looked just like that. Not what I would expect as the hot new concept car. I like the Toyota best, personally. I like the Formula 1-esque front end, and I like that the long hood reminds me of the Supra. From every angle, it looks like something special. The Acura looks like a middle of the road sportscar that a dentist would drive to work and the Nissan looks like an abstract artist's concept of what a car should look like. On acid. |
The Nissan will turn heads but the look might get old fast.
The Toyota has a penis nose. The NSX has that classic supercar look. NSX it is |
Is it bad that I really don't like any of them?
I like the FT1 from the A-pillar back. I don't care for anything else among the 3. |

2. Honda has already confirm it will be AWD hybrid. and lastly Honda has said the new NSX will cost more than the current $100k R35 GT-R. |

Nissan: I've fond of the R32 and R34, not so much the 33. Most people agree to like those the best. The newer GTR is cool and I like the way it looks but I don't know if I would call it "attractive". It's aggressive and looks cool but it doesn't have the same visual presence as the older ones. This new concept though is just too much of a radical design for me. It's co complex and busy that it doesn't even look like a car. It seems as though Nissan believes that so long as they keep the same tail lights, it automatically looks like a GTR, and I don't believe that. It should look like a modern day Japanese coupe, not what a car in Japan might look like in another 20 years. Acura: It just doesn't strike me as an NSX. It looks like something a different car maker would have made. I think the early 90s model is the best and it still looks great to this day. I'm all for updating it so it doesn't look so aged but it's just crazy to see how much they don't even look alike. I figured there would be more styling cues from the last model, but there isn't. Toyota: it not bad at all but from the a-pillar forward, I can't get into it. Personally, I hate the look of the headlights and front bumper design. The front fenders are ok, but they feel out of place on that car. Like they were just drag and dropped from a different design. If I had to choose one from the three, it would be the Toyota. |

Funny anecdotal story - a coworker of mine came up to me the other day and said he saw one in a parking lot and started talking to the owner. The owner eventually told him it was for sale, "only thirty-five." The coworker then relays this to me and says "Man thirty-five hundred for that car is a great deal, if I had the cash I would've bought it." I laughed a little and said uh, no, you're missing a decimal place. He was shocked that they're still worth that much. |
I really want to choose the FT-1, but I dislike the split/dual fascia design. The profile view is very very sexy though.
I'd go with the NSX at this point in time, though. |
ft-1 for 2 reasons:
1: It is the most likely to every happen of the 3. We all know the NSX is perpetual vaporware. 2: Assuming the 3 came into purchasable existence, the FT-1 will most likely be the least complicated and most affordable and to me, that's more important. |
NSX!! Midship layout. Wonder if will come with Vtec
|
I think the front end on FT1 looks better than the NSX.
|
The nissan is just fugly and they'll never make a car that looks anything like that.
The FT-1 and NSX are at least possible for production, except I'd be surprised if we saw either. The NSX doesn't do anything for me, not now and not 5 years ago when they showed the exact same damn car. |
I think nissan went for an extremely radical look, but the top view pic looks better. I don't know why, but I just like those smooth FT-1 curves. Hate both the Nissan and NSX rims (inversely similar to each other). FT-1 wheels remind me of the GT86 concept wheels.
Liking the NSX front best (best use of the latest grill logo in any Acura) but it went to Aventadorishhh for my taste |
I'm not surprised by the results. On the other forums I posted in it has been the same.
Toyota > Honda > Nissan |
