Remove Paddle Shifters

Hey guys just wondering can you remove the paddle shifters off the steering wheel?

JonAvalon 06-16-2014 11:47 AM

Yep you can, i haven't done it myself but doesn't seem difficult at all.

In this thread you can see where it points to unscrew them.

I've been thinking about relocating or adjusting the wiper stalk because it gets in my way when I'm using the paddles in a slide. How do the paddles get in your way? From getting a full grip on the wheel?

I have an 2016 automatic and I was wondering if there is anyway for me to replace the Steering wheel with an after market one and get rid off the paddles???

mclovin85 05-12-2017 01:41 PM

trade in for 6 speed :D

raian 05-13-2017 12:43 PM

i just replaced the steering wheel with a mt steering wheel LOL

edit : the paddle shifters are connected to the steering wheel so you can easily replace it with a regular or aftermarket

It's like neutering your AT!

shiumai 05-13-2017 01:54 PM

I wouldn't have bought my AT without paddle shifters. That being said, he can still shift in Manual mode with the automatic transmission gear selector.

Yeah, but they set it up backwards :bonk: First, and last time I used it, my upshift was a downshift.

I thought that as well! downshifts should have been a forward push and upshifts a rearward push. I never use the shifter either.

You can swap that around, it's just changing 2 cables. Plus becomes minus and vice versa.
Somewhere there is a topic about this.

Yep, any race car with a sequential shift, is going to use inertia to aid in the shifting. Granted teh inertia is going to be minimized with light weight shift knob and linkage, but still, when you brake objects in motion tend to stay in motion, ie moving forward, so down shift is forward. Under acceleration, things want to stay 'still', so the upshift is pulled back.

Use physics to your advantage!!

True, but with the paddles, I don't have to remove my hands from the steering wheel.
