What to do (srs)
I dont know what to do. My car was parked nicely and it looked beautiful after the rain when i was walking towards it. Then Noticed a banged up honda accord behind it with many dents and fake carbon fiber hood.
His front bumper was in contact with my rear bumper.(he left it in PARK like that) with plenty of space behind him I took pictures of his car riding my cars ass. I moved the car and now have multiple scratches. It looks like he dug into the paint with his plates multiple times. I took pics of his car and mine. WHAT DO? leave a note or what will post pics shortly to moderators, if this is not the right place please forgive me |
You should of reported it to the police right there and then...they would take pictures and measure the marks. It's a hit and run. It's going to be harder to prove now since it's just pictures...but if the police were actually there... then they would had pinned it on the other guy.
All you can do now is file a comprehensive claim for "hit and run" with a police report, pay your deductible and get it repainted. If the car is still there...call 911 immediately and say "I just returned back to my car and found another car lodged into my bumper!!" |

Is it worth it?
|
Yes. Call

It's worth it just to teach that lowlife a lesson.

If it were me, I would pursue justice (not to sound corny). It's not the cops job to tell you that anyways, its his job to take the police report. |

You live in New York (probably in the city as well judging by the fact that the cops told you to get a bumper guard). This shit will happen unless you're super vigilant about where you drive and park your car. People have no respect for your personal property in NYC and I've witnessed many many times people will use the bumpers as bumpers to parallel park. It's just a fact of living in NYC.
|
It sucks to park in the streets at NYC cause people like to touch bumpers when they park. Even in the parking lots, sometimes I take 2 spaces cause I just can't trust the other people.
|
Mount some spikes to your bumper and see if he keeps doing it.
Definitely don't accidentally roll back into his car though........ ........ . |
In Brazil, nearly all cars have tow balls installed as rear bumper protection. Not sure what they do about the front.

You can either use comprehensive to fix it, pay out of pocket, or try to get his insurance to fix it. Or you can live with it. Since you live in a big city it will probably happen again, unfortunately. (Another reason not to live in a city!)
If it were me, I'd live with it for now (or touch up paint). In 2 years your bumper will be trashed from rock chips anyway. Fix it down the road when you decide you want a perfect bumper again. I was going to get my bumper repainted on my WRX, but then I realized I would never get that money back. I don't think these minor cosmetic blemishes annoy a used car shopper as much as it annoys the original owner. |
You should have filed the report anyway. Sometimes people can be honest. I would be getting it fixed. Looks like a new bumper and plastic will be needed. It's a new car so I would expect it to stay that way for a while.

One of the few rules you want to live in life is: Do not lie to police. About anything, ever. They can be real pricks about that (for good reason).
File a report anyways, leave him in a position to lie to the police. Reach out to his insurance. etc. Take him to small claims, let him lie to a judge. |
Should have released the air from all his tires.
In NYC if there is a parking space a smart car can fit in, guaranteed a Suburban will try to get in it. |

Now I want to put two big tow hooks in the rear bumper.

That is truly BS... I would rather wait outside for the drivers return with any one of these pictured below but that wouldn't be a very good ending :paddle:... |
