Brake Pads?
 

Hey guys.

I have been looking for a good set of street pads for a while but can never find any consensus as to what is a good set. Just looking for something a bit better than stock for spirited weekend driving;) Any suggestions there?

Also, need a set of track pads for this season (HPDE). Anyone have a favorite in this regard? Car will be on coils with 450lb springs and 235 MPSS's. Just fluid and stainless lines for brake upgrades so far.

I've been running the EBC Yellowstuff pads front and rear. Stock rotors. What a difference!! They bite amazing. They work great cold and only get better as they heat up, that's when they really start to shine. I have yet to over heat these pads. They squeak a bit when braking but then again most performance pads do. I'd rather have a little squeak and know my car is going to stop. The car feels similar in stopping power to my 05 STi I had. I also have the Grimmspeed master cylinder brace, SS brake hoses, and Motul RBF 660. Hope this helps.

thanks to the OP for asking the question, i am also in the market for picking up some new pads, however i would like rear pads that would lock up the rear end when i pull the ebrake.

I just asked that same question
of FT86 speed factory. I am looking at DA2500, EBC or Winmax. Auto cross twice a month as well as DD.

What do you mean by "better" for spirited driving? More bite? More fade resistance? The stock pads are fine for daily driving, even spirited back roads. I have Ferodo DS2500's and they're a great hybrid pad. Mostly silent on the street and they'll take some track use too.

+1 on the Winmax suggestion. I'm running the W3s all around and they work great on the car. They do generate a bit of dust and noise, but nothing compared to the Hawk pads I had on the car before them.

Are you looking for a more aggressive street pad for daily driving/spirited weekend driving, and a separate set of race pads for the weekend?

Winmax W1 for street, Project Mu Club Racers for the weekend.

Pair it up with Project Mu G-Four, or Torque RT700.

I like CarboTech pads. The street pads are quiet with good behavior. And they are "chemically compatible" with their more aggressive AX/Track pads so you can swap pads without having to do a full bed-in.

I really like the project Mu club racers. I was fading hc+800, ferodo ds2500, and ebc yellows. I liked carbotechs on track but they were too loud on the street. I'm now dailying the club racers and they also hold up great for hpde.

CSG has all of this and you'd be very pleased with results. :)

The e-brake is a tiny drum brake in the middle of the rear disk. It uses different friction parts (drum brake shoes) than the pads being discussed here.

We have every pad mentioned so far in this thread :)

Another vouch for CSG. I met David and Mike in person... they really know their stuff and have tested a lot of their products. I wouldn't go to anyone else for brakes.

For a daily driver (no track use) I was recommended Winmax W1/W2.

Can i say for street driving the HC+800 are great. And yes CSG was where i got mine, great people to deal with

I'm running front - W1, rear - W2 setup & it's pretty nice setup.

Winmax have different levels of brake pads. So if you're interested hit em up on Their website or if you're friend w Moto on FB, message him. He can guide you to right Winmax pads you need.

Has anyone used the StopTech Street Performance Brake pads? I'm wondering if that would be a good option compared to the Winmax W1 or W2.

^^ Stay away, I've heard they're worse than stock.

Ferodo DS2500. Great all around for fun weekend driving, autoX, and some guys even use them on the track. Moderate dust, fairly low noise, good wear, very few judder/vibration issues, etc. Just a really solid performance pad that does a lot of things well.

I'm also on Ferodo DS2500 all around. Great street/track pad.

Mine are ordered and should be here on Thursday. Then I get to go to Vegas for the week come back, install,bed them in and race the next day.

I'm currently running Stoptech pads (albeit on my Brembo conversion) but I find them quite nice for daily driving. Funny thing is that they squeal at low speeds when it's raining or when roads are wet.

give CSG your business, they contribute alot around here. The only thing that prevented me from doing so on my brake pads was time constraints on a track day. Needed dem overnight parts from japan(10 miles down the road)

Have you tracked them yet? What I meant is that I've heard they take less heat than the stock pads do.
