Gentle Leader - "Docked!" (New England)

As many of you have said there have been about 3 three ships from Japan as possibles for SNE's first delivery. It appears the "Gentle Leader" was that ship. It just docked at ~6am this morning in Davisville Port (Kingston, RI). This ship just recently came from a quick stop in Baltimore. The wait should almost be over. Also I found a recent video about the port:

Live Map

Hoping that there are some SDC cars on there as well, more specifically mine

ngabdala 05-23-2012 12:29 PM

How do we know this boat would carry Subaru?

Also, thanks for the info. Hope mine is on it or the one on the 30th.

I pre-ordered from the 3rd largest Subie dealership in NE. He says they get their first shipment on the 7th of June and the next around 2 weeks later.

Unfortunetly I have no DEFINITIVE proof. I recall from past posts here there were 3 ships someone tracked from FHI in Japan (gentle leader being one). Also the port history of the ship I can only find back to when it arrived in Baltimore.

Anyone live near Kingston, RI??? From a google map view it appears with the right set of bonocs you should be able to see what's unloading.

Spaceywilly 05-23-2012 12:56 PM

Yeah I live about 10 minutes from Quonset Point. Last time I went down it was pretty tough to see the cars that were just unloaded, but there were plenty of Subies that were in sight. Hopefully they'll park them close enough that I can get some pictures. FWIW my dealer (Patrick Subaru) said they expect their first shipment May 29-31 so it makes sense for the boat to be getting here now.

Someone hire a Private Investigator to snap some shots for us. They did that on the west coast. Now that's dedication or obsession :thanks:

:scared0016: Definitely an obsession... I'm looking at Google terrain maps for higher elevations in the area.

A nice vantage point is needed for :coolpics:!

brzmass12 05-23-2012 02:13 PM

Just received word from my dealer (Patrick Subaru) that the ship is at the port in Rhode Island. Also received good news that my SWP Limited is on this ship and I should be able to take delivery by next week depending on how fast they can get the cars out of there.

Pretty excited!!!

DMViper 05-23-2012 02:32 PM

Well, that confirms that this boat is a BRZ boat. :confused0068:

davesrave 05-23-2012 02:42 PM

I can see the Gentle Leader from across the bay, but it's too far away to make out any vehicles coming off of it. Damn!

You sir, need a telescope...or at least some high power binoculars.

davisk6 05-23-2012 04:03 PM

Nice! Hopefully my SWP Limited is on that boat too :)

M-17 05-23-2012 04:06 PM

All I want is Crystal Black for the right price.

Spaceywilly 05-23-2012 07:40 PM

So I took a drive down to Quonset Point. Unfortunately did not see all our BRZs as I was hoping but there were definitely a ton of Subarus that had just been unloaded, and there was one BRZ near the office but unfortunately parked where I couldn't get a good picture of it.

Turbowned 05-23-2012 11:27 PM

Hmmm, maybe if we need to pick up an Audi at the port this week I'll offer to be the runner for the day ;) Saw lots of nice Porsches sitting pretty at Quonset, along with tons of Audis and Subarus.

Spaceywilly 05-24-2012 01:03 AM

There were 2 R8's there, let me know if you need someone to drive the second one :)

DMViper 05-24-2012 12:27 PM

Woh! It just docked in boston. Hmmmm.... Will if it's also dropping off brz's there, then it's that much closer to me!

It stopped in Boston! F***!!!! I COULD HAVE DRIVEN DOWN THERE ON MY WAY TO WORK!!! Damn it....It will be dark by the time I get home...maybe I'll stop by tomorrow.

bladesamurai 05-24-2012 02:35 PM

Well that's pretty exciting. I hope to hear from my dealer soon!

Sony 05-24-2012 07:57 PM

this vehicle dock is litterally 5 minutes from my house...im going to try and swing by it tomorrow before work!

DMViper 05-24-2012 11:00 PM

:w00t: + :coolpics: = Nice!

bladesamurai 05-25-2012 09:58 AM

The boat is now on it's way down to Jacksonville Florida, so it seems the first shipment of cars for SNE have been fully dropped off in RI and MA. Sort through them quick!

M-17 05-25-2012 01:58 PM

I'll be checking in on Monday to see if anyone has backed out on their orders.

Sony 05-25-2012 04:21 PM

Unfortunately i was running late for work this morning so i couldnt check the docks. Sorry guys!

davisk6 05-25-2012 07:43 PM

I got word today that my car was offloaded into Boston yesterday, so yes, there are BRZ's in port in Charlestown.

Nice! Who give you that little tidbit??

speedracer38 05-26-2012 01:04 AM

I got word that my BRZ was on the boat and was told by the dealership I should have it in a few days. The things that pisses me off now is my salesman who I know more about the car then he does is now telling me I have to wait for the "second shipment" so my BRZ could just be sitting down at the port for a few weeks until they decide to send the second shipment of cars to the area  I told him I'm very unhappy knowing the car has arrived and was told I would have it midweek and now not knowing when the car will be here is very frustrating.

*Rant.....I asked him to call SNE to get a delivery date since the car is in port now and he said he is just going to wait for them to say the car is coming. What the fuck kind of salesman am I dealing with?! I asked him firmly to call SNE and get details instead of just waiting around and he still seemed uninterested. Very unhappy with how he handles business.

Salesperson as the dealership I ordered from. The car is listed as "In Port" on their inventory.

I was told something similar in regards to amount of time in port. I can take up to 3 weeks for the cars to be processed and shipped. I understand your disappointment. Myself, on the other hand, don't really care. The hard part for me was waiting to see if the car was on the first shipments. Now that it is actually in the port, I can relax. The car does exist and is close by. It's no longer "IF", but "WHEN", which is much better.

#87 05-26-2012 09:44 AM

Anyone have a delivery date? I was told "you may be able to pick it up next week", hope it's true.

Turbowned 05-26-2012 10:33 AM

I'm honestly hoping it does take 3 weeks. I was planning for mid-June, as that was the approximate time frame I was given. I'm hoping to have a busy sales weekend and sock away a little extra dough to put down on the car before I pick it up. I'm also trying to free up some liquid assets before then - stocks, insurance reimbursement, selling spare car parts. This is my first new car purchase and first car loan so I want to make sure all my ducks are in a row before sitting down in the finance office.

Sony 05-26-2012 10:34 AM

I'm heading over to the port now to see if I can see the cars, I doubt I can see anything but I can try :)

I'm waiting for the finance guy at Subaru dealer to call me back with the result of the credit application and see what rate they offer me.

Sony 05-26-2012 01:19 PM

well i went over and i couldnt see any 86's they were out of view most likely behind the giant pile of road salt that was 100 feet high and 800 feet long

That damn salt :mad0259:

Ruining our cars in the winter, and ruining our view in the spring. :bonk:

Turbowned 05-26-2012 01:33 PM

Drat!!! We need a helicopter or level A clearance into the port. Who can arrange this? I'll begin assembling a team of divers to infiltrate the area tonight. Anyone got a grappling hook? A parachute?

speedracer38 05-27-2012 12:24 PM

My dealer got back to me and said I can get the car this Thursday!!

Partial Stall 05-28-2012 02:57 PM

Just FYI my dealer told me my WRB limited MT will be ready sometime this week.

I checked your old posts and noticed you ordered relatively recently; what was your position in your dealer's allocation queue?
