From what I can see it looks like it redlines at 7k, but he is shifting at 8k. Might be a pretty good idea of what we will see on the production car.

Serious question because I see this a lot. Do the video game developers somehow have access to information that we the consumer do not?

Why are we looking at a video game and assuming what we see reflects a car that hasn't been released yet?

I think they had special access to the GT-R and actually helped design the Multi Function Display on it. Don't know if they have a Toyota connection or not.

ichitaka05 07-27-2010 08:37 PM

Also the game developer has seen what's under the hood of FT86

KyShro 07-27-2010 08:37 PM

Totally. Kazunori Yamauchi is a HUGE car fan. Like he said above, Polyphony Digital helped develop the gauges for the R35. I dont think its very many game developers, by Yamauchi has played a huge influence in Japanese car culture. He isnt going to make something up and put it into one of his cars in GT5. What you see is most likely going to function like it would in the real car.

70NYD 07-27-2010 09:14 PM

thats the FT86 concepts interior 100%, doesnt mean it will be like that in production. fav bit from the 1st time i saw the gauge cluster was the track map :D

the thing on the A pillar is a little window reffer to attach 2,3,4,6

I wouldn't go so far as to say that is how the production car will be exactly, but he does have a Toyota connection. He drove the IS-F in the Nurburgring 24hr races this year and last, and IIRC works in conjunction to deliver the Data logger visualization technology.

How is it old? This is the first time there has been video of the FT86's gauges in GT5. And yes, the driver sucks very much.

Not sure how I feel about that little window. It's somewhat cool but a bit pointless and it's reducing the structure of the pillar. I doubt that'll make the D.O.T cut.

Yeah no sh*t! If they are going to debut a game, at least have someone who can get past the first corner! :burnrubber:

that wasn't anyone from PD driving. must have been someone from the general public, or a game reviewer who has never driven a car before...

I don't know if it's pointless. I drove my buddy's Yaris and its pillars are huge and annoying. The window might be an ok work-around. But we'll have to drive it to know for sure.

NESW20 07-28-2010 07:10 PM

new camaro pillars are more huge and annoying. come to think of it, everything about the new camaro is annoying. :D

Midship Runabout 07-28-2010 07:10 PM

Aftermarket will make CF inserts anyways.

It's more asthetic than anything. I bet the Yaris' pillars are huge annoying since that car has 0 appeal. The FT pillars are thin enough that they won't cause too much blind spots.

True we probably won't know until we see the final production if it will even have that window. If they equip it with side curtain airbags, then I would highly doubt it.

djohnson 07-28-2010 08:17 PM

If you like the windows, tell yourself it will make it because it can reduce blind spots... If you dont, then tell yourself it will hinder crash safety. Kinda could go both ways don't ya think?

Optimistically speaking, I hope it has a solid pillar because if a small window will help reduce blind spots, I'm an accident waiting to happen. ;)

Ya, I saw that in a episode of Top Gear. They developed the software for the GT-R like the G measurements and such.

I think to be able to create an accurate model of the car in game, they would have to see it for themselves. I'm sure that is what went down since both companies are Japanese.

Hmm, I can't find this vid. There aren't any vids on that page.
