Loudest BOV
So I have the FA20club kit with the Turbosmart 50mm Q BOV, and it is too quiet for my taste, what BOV out there will conform to my kit and is a very nice loud pleasing sound?
|
HKS or Tial might work for you.
|
I have an hks ssqv iv. It's plenty loud. I will be upgrading to a Precision BOV in the near future which is loud as well, without the whistle. Its more of a "wooosh."
|
Are pretty much all BOV's on the market universal? I heard the Turbo-XS Type RFL was one of the loudest but not sure if it is universal.
|
Is this the fast and the furious?...

On another note are all these aftermarket BOV's, are they all universal but just need to have a flange welded on or something? |
HKS SSQV with enough boost, with an open hood literally hurts my ears. Very loud, and sounds really good :)
|
SSQV is probably the loudest. I like the Type-S because F&F.
|
Just remember that you've got to live with the loudness once you get it. I went through a few BOV's on my WRX before finally settling on an APS 50/50 valve. I had a Greddy and the HKS SSQV as well. The HKS is definitely loud and it can get a bit annoying after a while. I liked the APS because if you drove it lightly, it recirc'd and you heard nothing, but if you got on it, you got the typical whoosh.
|
I run the SSQV4 on my Evo and it's definitely loud enough to get attention.
Thinking about switching to this BOV though: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pbUMXZvfi8"]Turbo Charged Subaru STI DUCK CALL Blow off Valve. - YouTube[/ame] |
Run no bov :)

TurboXS RFL. You can hear when I'm doing my burnout. This video was taken from pretty far away too

I have the turbosmart raceport BoV, it gives the turkey gobble right after the woosh. Best of both worlds of the "surge" noise and the "woosh".
"wooooshh gobble gobble gobble!" |
I'm running a Turbosmart dual port BOV with my Vortech SC. I blocked off one of the ports with the included plug and run either the horn for the "whoosh" sound or the recirc fitting with a breather filter if I want it quiet. Best of both worlds and takes 10 seconds to switch it out with no tools :)

I have the Tial 50mm BOV on my car, and it is fairly loud. It makes a loud cough under hard load shifting, and under medium loads it makes the stuttering sounds, just perfect IMO.

You should get some whistle tips too.

I'm going to the Summer Kickoff tomorrow in Oakland. I can pick up some there. I'll stop by the shop in this vid.

I dunno about loudest since the HKS SSQV is pretty damn loud with the right insert, but it's still very loud because of it's megaphone. Quote:
That's the sound of not having a BOV or bypass valve and/or antilag. Quote:
Gobble gobble sound means it's not adjusted correctly and you're still getting reversion. The sound from a BOV is directly related to how much boost you're running. Low boost isn't going to be loud at all... |
