Did you purchase this from japanparts?

calibrz 06-04-2014 04:58 PM

RICE.

racecarshots 06-04-2014 04:59 PM

I dislike myself for wanting to buy louvers before I buy coilovers.

lol

Those are rad.

TBBandit 06-04-2014 05:00 PM

How much? What are they made of?

Turbo95eg6 06-04-2014 05:03 PM

Would love to see it without those transformers taillights...

Guillaume 06-04-2014 05:06 PM

What's the view like in your central mirror?

malave7567 06-04-2014 05:21 PM

I love the TRD louvers. Extremely. I just can't spend 900 to order them from japanparts. I wish I could.

Yeah got them from japanparts. Took only a week and a half to get. They are a harder plastic type material. They are held on by double sided tape brackets which use hex screws to secure louvers. And yeah I've been second guessing my Spyder tails and thinking about the toms instead here's requested pics. Yeah I agree they're freakin expensive, but I don't regret the purchase. Nice! I have an asphalt too and I want the louvers.

I noticed your badges are silver instead of chrome.. what did you use to do that? Does it match scion's badges pretty well? I want to do the exact same thing to mine

hmong337 06-05-2014 01:11 AM

I like the louvers!

post_break 06-05-2014 08:55 AM

Do they rattle or make noise?

DarkSunrise 06-05-2014 09:05 AM

Haha those go pretty well with the car. It's funny, I usually think of american muscle cars from the 80s when I think of louvers, but this works somehow.

CruiseZen 06-05-2014 09:12 AM

Just curious, since it is bolted on, how do you wash the rear window?

aakash 06-05-2014 10:42 AM

that looks mean as fuck....yup mean as fuck...

Dadhawk 06-05-2014 10:58 AM

Want so bad. Price, cannot justify!

Looks great though congrats!

Nevermore 06-05-2014 01:53 PM

They look good on this color, now I wonder how they look on a hot lava. I'm in the same boat as everybody else though, just can't swing that price. Plus I don't know if they'd work with other ideas I have.

Tye300 06-05-2014 02:11 PM

Looks good on asphalt. Now the taillights look out of place though.

Thanks, I've decided to change out tailights something solid red, keeping the louvers there's just too much going on in the back end, too busy now.

Color keyed louvers on hot lava would be badass! But then that's probably going to cost ~1400 then :-(

To get a real detailed cleaning you'll have to take the whole thing off, disappointing I know as some louvers simply hinge open. But the louvers are decently spaced apart where I can manage to get my hands in there okay

I've had them on for about 3 days prior and didn't notice anything different going 85 mph tops. But I tried to really listen for it this morning, and you can hear some faint rattle only on crappy roads. Highways and decently kept roads I couldn't really hear it. But I did use lock tite to keep the screws in place, maybe without it over time more rattle means tighten it down lol

Although going through the laser wash this morning and the air dry made quite a lot of noise. Bit scary actually lol but the lock tite did it's job :-)

They look pretty good, probably why I manned up and bought them for my car. Mine should be here on Monday. Glad someone else was able to post how the template lays out and how it attaches to the trunk area.

Carlitoz3 06-05-2014 11:11 PM

Definitely want this once I can afford it :)

Mooseknuckle44 06-06-2014 07:43 AM

IMHO, no. Not even no.....HELL no. All I can think of is an early 90's Ford Escort.
Blah. BUT, It's your ride and if you like em that is all that matters. It definitely doesn't fit the tails tho. I love those tails, but the 80's look with the futuristic tails look conflicts IMO. Almost confising. You need ultra dim, dingy all red tails.....like the ugly a$$ Toms.

...

@Dizzywithadame I see you are in Nevada. I've you noticed a appreciable difference in the internal temp of the car when parked, or driving? I would think blocking out the back glass would make a decent difference.

malave7567 06-06-2014 08:03 AM

I'm more sold than ever on these louvers after those pics... Now, what to do to get money..? lol.

All those that want these but need to save the money, make sure you set aside about $1100 because that's what it comes out to after shipping. Not sure what the OP paid shipped, but mine were $1,071 from japanparts.com

Nevermore 06-06-2014 11:28 AM

@ShutterSpeed pictures are definitely requested. I need to see it on your car.

tahdizzle 06-06-2014 11:33 AM

I like em. :P

aznatama 06-06-2014 11:55 AM

Looks like it'll be a pain to wash your windows... Remove and re-install every car wash...

Actually yes, I've noticed a difference even with tint in the rear window. I have 35% tint in rear. But it's a minor plus seeing as tint is a fraction of the cost of the louvers

Yeah it is if you want it absolutely clean, it's wide enough for you to get your hand in there with a towel to do a decent enough job, at least for me. Air compressor helps a lot though
