Before you bought this car, did you hesitate and realize you're buying the new Civic?
I know I didn't. But boy it is nauseating seeing how many people are ricing these cars out or just driving stupidly. The companies did great insuring that they would sell because they are priced competitively, but sometimes I wish it was more expensive to keep some people from buying it.
And to those of you who say "don't care what others say, do what you like", do you appreciate that your car's value is dwindling and your insurance is going up because people don't know how to drive these? When they first came out, the BRZ and FR-S were looked at as great looking, sweet cars by most people. They are still great to the people that appreciate what they do. It just sucks that the general public is starting to see these cars as loud, obnoxious, riced out cars. The more I go through Facebook groups and see what people are doing to their cars, it just annoys the shit out of me. Sorry if you think I shouldn't get annoyed by it, but the more and more people do that shit, the more that these cars get lumped into the "rice" group. /rant |
JDM as frig, yo! :burnrubber:

Well I mean, Honda Civics do hold their values pretty damn well. Soooo, I don't see your point.

Heh. Looking forward to seeing the riced-out junk in ten years with rusty fart-cans and cracked Rocket Bozo bodywork. I'll (hopefully) be driving around in a very clean mostly-stock FR-S. Not really bothered by it, just want to make sure they know we are laughing at them, not with them.

The other thing is, these really aren't that cheap. They're not in the civic price range. The civic starts at about 7k less, and you can get year or two old ones cheap. This car doesn't have nearly as large a used market to choose from and they start mid 20s. Though it's clear people have over extended themselves as I'm starting to see a lot of used ones with very low miles popping up. |

That thought never crossed my mind. I'm more curious if people hesitate or realize they're making themselves look ghetto and trashy when getting their new tattoo...you know...cause it's nauseating seeing how many sluts and criminals have tattoos.
See how narrow minded that sounded? |

I used to care about what other people did with their cars and personal properties. But then I grew up and realized that it does not effect me at all. Therefore, why care?

GUIZE I JUST CARE SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE THINK. Just wait until your insurance goes up again when people like this get into accidents. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK1iPjJBbgg"]Scion Frs Drifting - YouTube[/ame] |
It's a somewhat cheap sports car. Idk what you were expecting - some sort of mandatory ethics class on how to "tastefully" modify your car? Maybe you care too much and this is the best way for you to vent your frustrations?

To some, your car would be considered rice, Husker. This sort of thing is inevitable when an affordable sporty car comes out. They want to make their car unique and buy a bunch of aftermarket stuff but before they know it, the car develops all sorts of problems so they try to sell it. My generation of Eclipse is notorious for this - I probably have one of the last mostly stock GSX's left. I think it might actually help the resale value if most other people mod theirs - as long as you don't heavily mod your own and take good care of it.

THIS! I don't want my insurance going up because its a car driven by a bunch of reckless young kids. |

Really, if you worry about this, you should never buy a car unless you bought it to store in a garage shrink wrapped for 40 years. All cars (that are not in the equivalent of a museum) have dwindling value. Of course, since I've never sold/traded-in a car with less than 200,000 miles on it, I'm probably not the best judge of this. |
i love the automatic drifting and yeah this is turning into one of those more garbage communities. it happens when cars prices creep into the prices stupid kids can afford. its a good car but i probably wouldnt have bought one if i waited until after my car situation changed.

My insurance is the same. $124 per month. You know what? If my insurance does raise, I'll be able to afford it since I settled for a cheap sports car.
|
That's why I boughts tha BRZ bra...noo ricerz here.
|
I don't think it really matters. I believe the average eye can see when care and effort was put into a car vs. something that was done half ass-ed or wrong. Sometimes I see Civics and I wonder why they even bothered modding it and other times I see civics that I know have been modded to a personal taste and look pretty good. I don't mind anyone who mods their car with care and personal taste in mind...I do mind when they put a loud ass no-name exhaust on and they're missing a hub cab and their struts are blown.

When I sold my '95 Civic coupe, and my wife's '02 Si hatch, we got good money because they weren't riced out pieces of poo. Just something to consider...
Insurance on the other hand, not much we can do about that. |

Only a couple years old and there's a ton with plastidip all over them. We are off to a bright start but as long as you keep yours pristine who cares. My insurance has only gone down so far

The new civic? I was aware that it would be a popular car which is bound to get riced out but by if you've looked out there lately civics are still civics. If anything you have more kids in hyundai genesis coupe 2.0s with blow off valves revving up in parking lots to get attention. The FRS an option in todays market. If you can afford an FRS chances are you've looked at a gen coupe, 370z, hell pretty much any sports car south of 40k. It's all affordable with financing. If anything the civic crowed moved on to the 350z since so many are out there and at a cheap price. Beating the dead horse again with the whole ricer thing is getting so old lol

This isn't really the "new" Civic. Its a far harder car to convince a naive mother to buy it for herself but also for you to drive as well. Most don't see the harm in buying a normal looking sedan. This car, they immediately assume you're going to race people and they were never part of the equation. New 240SX? That's probably the closest equivalent. |
