Exhaust shopping is exhausting
Hey guys ive been looking for a good exhaust for about a month now and cant find the perfect one yet. I want one with a deep rumble with little to no drone. So far I really like Perrin and HKS exhausts. Was wondering if there's any out there with a better sound and/or performance. Dont really have a budget so any options ill look into. Any ideas and opinions ill appreciate it.

I love my FT86 SpeedFactory V1. If I didn't have a full exhaust, I would've stuck with the unresonated, but I went resonated when I had my header. They sound fantastic, are made by a great company who backs their products, and there is no drone.
You are going to get everyone saying their own opinion of their own exhaust and why it is better than the previous opinion. Searching is your friend. I would also recommend Perrin because many people have it and love it. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the feedback ill look them.

@husker741 is right, everyone will say the exhaust they chose. So to follow suit I bought the Borla catback and love it. No drone and an awesome deep tone, also at cruising RPM you can barely hear it. Good luck with your search!!

nameless axle back with 2.5" piping and 5" mufflers. http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...eback-exhaust/ It's well made, fits proper, easy to install and the tips look good! humfrz |
I'm running the Ark Grip- it's awesome, but probably not as deep sounding as you would like- but zero drone. A few guys up in the PNW have the Ark DTS, nice and deep, and also no drone.
Both are great, but don't expect to be saving weight. |
I just got through the exhausting exhaust shopping myself. Personally I decided on the nameless axleback (along with downpipe, and HKS EL Header).
Runner up was the Perrin 2.5" which some of the vendors can give you an amazing deal on. Since you mention wanting no drone, make sure you get something resonated. |
Invidia N1 has the lowest toned rumble, but will drone if u take the cat out of the front pipe.

I've yet to hear the HKS EL with Nameless Exhaust, but I had a chance at a nameless axleback for under $300 shipped that I couldn't pass up. I'll get some video once everything arrives. |
The invidia N1 is deep and definitely says "I'm here!!"
For example, my fiance knows exactly when I come home from work from inside the house just from the rumble |
For exhaust, I like the Ark Grip. They're releasing a 3'' one soon if I'm not mistaken.

Perrin 2.5 unresonated catback sounds pretty damn nice!!!

I have the HKS Legamax Sports. Still waiting on my FT86SF UEL to get everything on though.
Not expecting a lot of drone/rasp/volume with my set up. FT86SF Cat'd (obviously) UEL, Motiv OP, Motiv Cat'd FP, HKS Legamax Sports CBE |
Still an underrated exhaust: the Corsa Catback. Absolutely no drone at all. I have heard all the exhausts in the contemplation thread, and this one took the cake and ate it too.

I am running Perrin 3" catback exhaust, love it and will stay with it. used to have my N1, it just too loud at 6am, so i sold it.

Ark DT-S is what you're looking for

I've been looking at exhausts a while, but I actually haven't had any because I don't have the money to buy them. At any rate, I'm basically in a similar situation to you and I thought I would share some of what I have discovered. To me, these three exhausts produce similar notes, with their own variations, and all sound pretty good. The nameless axelback, the PERRIN catback, and the Ark Grip/DTS. I have considered all of them, but so far the PERRIN is what's on my wishlist.

M7 T-Titan. No drone, no complaints. Similar design to the Invidia N1 except with an unresonated midpipe, sounds very throaty on WOT. Coupled with an UEL Header, the sound will be orgasmic- sounding like a TRUE SUBBIE!

TBH I've heard the Perrin in person many times and I really love it. I think it sounds just as good as my Ark Grip. The one thing I keep hearing from Perrin owners is that it's a little too quiet... but for me that's a plus. Sounds sexy as hell from outside of the car IMO.
Edit: Just as a side note, the Perrin from outside sounds closer to the Grip than the DTS, it's not as deep. Can't recall from interior as it was different days that I've heard the exhaust from inside, but the Perrin is a great sounding exhaust throughout the entire rev range. |
Decided and ordered the Perrin 2.5 resonated exhaust along with a Perrin over pipe and HKS front pipe. I think its a good set up and should sound pretty good.

^^It definitely will sound awesome^^
