Does your BRZ still turn heads?

This is going to sound like a bit of a humble brag, but here it goes.

I've had my BRZ for two years now, and since new I've seen a people looking at my car on the highway (sometimes passengers craning their necks to look at it as the car passes me). I even still get compliments on it at the gas station, parking lots, etc. When the car was brand new this was understandable. I had one of the first in the DMV region. But now BRZs/FR-Ss are all over the place, so my car is nothing special. For what it's worth, my car is always clean and shiny when I have it out. I don't drive it in the rain (or Winter) unless necessary.

Granted, my car is modified, but it's very mild, so I don't think that's it. Does anyone else experience this, even after the car has been out for two years?

butto answer you, where I live there isn't a BRZ and FR-S. There's one in a town 20 minutes away. There's a few about 30 minutes away. So, many people come up to me and talk about it because they've seen the FR-S Commercial or they see the pictures online, but haven't seen them in person. When I'm parked outside a lot of people seem to stare. I am lowered though about 2" or so, but still have stock wheels. I enjoy seeing pictures being taken of my car and cops asking about it. It's entertaining.

Thanks for linking me to the other threads. The search terms for a thread of this nature are hard to get right.

I get people talking to me in parking lots all over the place, and a lot of dirty envious looks from the younger crowd here in Calgary. In rural BC where my parents have a holiday home its either rednecks who don't look twice or people with their eyes popping out of their heads...

Kimsey47 05-23-2014 09:35 AM

Here in Chattanooga I still get the "breakneck looks", those who speed up to take a look to see what the car is, and then finally the rednecks in diesel dullies that think I'll drag race them down a public highway.

Car has no real modifications except for a Perrin exhaust, and to my anger, seems to attract people when its dirtier than when clean... I guess "Because Subaru?" lol

sklimo 05-23-2014 09:55 AM

Mine turns cops heads. Cuz LOUD

Annahra 05-23-2014 10:02 AM

I still get lots of looks and comments. I get less crazy interest now though, not like when it first came out (I got my silver Aug '12). I would have people pull over, get out of their cars, walk around it, take pictures, etc.

CBRZY 05-23-2014 10:11 AM

I still get a lot of looks because although it's been out for 2 years or so, it's still relatively uncommon.
I see guys in their M6's staring, or people taking pictures, and occasionally get the "Breakneck" type of look on the highway. I get some gas attendants chatting me up sometimes, still.
Not modified, just exhaust, taillights and a track decal xD

gily25 05-23-2014 01:54 PM

Just yesterday the car next to me rolled down the window to say nice car, granted driver was in a ghetto'd out Honda, but still. There's a few popping up in my area but still not too many, I see at least 5 tCs during my commute and I'm lucky to see one BRZ/FR-S.

spitz 05-23-2014 01:56 PM

I get a few people that say nice car. That's it, but then again, everyone and their mother owns a BRZ/FRS in California.

xxscaxx 05-23-2014 02:15 PM

Almost every week I get one of these. Not a ton in my area but a few. I had a taxi driver follow me off the highway and beep at me at a stoplight to ask me what kind of car I had and tell me how good it looked. That was three days ago.

Then two days ago had a guy at a gas station come up to me asking what it was, how nice it was, etc lol. I'm actually kind of surprised as well that people still come up to me and ask me what car it is etc.

Its very flattering honestly lol. I am a bit more modded from the normal brz/frs but not that much really. Our cars just are still relatively new and are unlike most cars out there so I guess people tend to notice them more.

Muskokan 05-23-2014 02:27 PM

Winter driving in northern muskoka, masewell be a fucking unicorn I ride to work.

swpbrz 05-23-2014 02:29 PM

I am naturally scary and unapproachable. So only a few people work up the coyrage for an akward talk.

Cool car! I bet its fast.

Well not really, you see sir this was a joint venture by suburu and toyota designed to be a gr.... oh he walked off

Turbo95eg6 05-23-2014 03:19 PM

Guess I don't spend most of my driving paying attention to other people's reactions.

When I visited the bay area last October, I saw soooo many of them.

Jac 05-23-2014 03:55 PM

About once a week I'll get someone striking up a conversation with me about the car. This week I've had 3 such encounters.

Mynismo08 05-23-2014 03:59 PM

I have people stare at my FR-S quite a bit even though there are a few in the DMV area. I use mine as a daily driver that I treat really gently so it always looks nice and it's currently completely stock, but people still look at it. I'm surprised because there's about 20 BRZ's over at my local Subaru dealer.

tomkozski 05-23-2014 04:21 PM

I think the WRB color contributes to the 'turning heads,' as it is a fairly unique color and looks fantastic when clean. The WRB, and Hot Lava for the FR-S, really stand out on the road as most cars are white, black, or silver - really noticeable when I park it in large parking lots, makes mine easy to spot.

My BRZ still turns heads at my workplace garage, and I've had mine since last July. And last week had someone at the gas station ask me if my car was the new Porsche...

_______ 05-23-2014 05:36 PM

Definitely depends on where you live. Im probably one of the few that has one in my town so I still get compliments. When I travel closer to areas around Philly or NYC I dont get squat since im sure theyre more common around those parts.

BRZZZZZZZZZZ 05-23-2014 06:11 PM

Had some junior high school kids yell nice wheels when I was on lunch today and had to stop by home.

kalamitykode 05-23-2014 06:57 PM

Meh, I get the occasional person staring at me as I go by them. People here don't seem to understand that mine isn't a Scion, though..

ZionsWrath 05-23-2014 07:00 PM

Nobody cares about mine

chas3wba0 05-23-2014 07:35 PM

Some lady asked me at a stoplight, "Nice Sewbarew! Is that a Dubbow-Yew Awwr Ex??"

...that's what I get for debadging

inertia 05-24-2014 12:25 AM

Noticed the difference in attention comparing when I first got the car to now. Must say it has decrease but I could care less. Love this car!

kavanagh 05-24-2014 12:44 PM

Valet parked for dinner last night and we sat on yr patio. They left ours right in front of the valet stand with a C63 in front and there was also some giant flashy SUV. Everything else they drove over to the 'common' lot... 2014 Stingray, Porsche Cayan, BMW 6 Series, countless Lexus and Mercedes. It was fun to see all those cars driven off to park while our little FRS sat up front and got all the walk by stares.

Yep, had a repair van catch up to me just to thumb me up!

Choco 05-24-2014 04:48 PM

Had mine for almost 2 years. Still turns heads but I think it's mostly because I'm a female owner...

FRSpappa 05-24-2014 08:38 PM

Just got my 2014 and had the windows tinted. Guy at the tint shop asked what it was and never did one. Said doing the back window was a pain with the 3rd brake light. Crushing in Palm Springs last weekend and guys were watching an Audi A10 until I rolled by!...lol

Just started a new job, and I've had 3 or 4 people come up in the first week, asking if that was my car.

DSOmegaX 05-24-2014 11:43 PM

Yeap! Cause it looks like this, making people ask me whether I work for Subaru and my car is a demo/press/test car =)

I turn around and take a second look at my car every time I walk away from it. That's all that matters. I'm still very much in love with my beauty.

FRSpappa 05-25-2014 01:28 AM

Nice vid, would have helped him for sure. He had to have a second go at it to get it done.

When I first got the car, I got the occasional compliment of how nice of a car it was. But now, I'm only getting comments from people telling me how its not a real sports car and how its slow, etc. The FRS/BRZ has definitely gained in popularity/ownership lately so it is not that uncommon to see one anymore.

I am considering trading in for a 2015 WRX STi, but until then:

I still get people looking when they pass my car.

The driver in a red dodge charger gave me the shocker sign when i was driving around some twisty roads earlier.

skye67 05-25-2014 04:24 PM

Went to pick up my new handgun yesterday. And forgot about the annual peddlers fair in town. Being in the foothills of the sierras, a lot of cars and bikes make the nice drive to get out of the valley heat. I got ether a wavw or a headlight flash from, 2 Corvettes, show car quality black and yellow Camaro, a number of bikes and thumbs up from both the CHP officers working traffic control as I purrred passed the in first gear with my OTH and catback.
As I got to the gun store, I backed up to the store. I put in park and tap the gas, to hear the exhaust noise against the cinder block wall. Now, the regular gun shop guys are in side. These guys own cars like 65 stingrays, 440 Charger, 383 T bucket and 454 Nova, all come out to check out the noise. As old as they are, the knowledge of modern car is amazing. A quick trip to the gun shop turns in to a 2 hour long discussion of horsepower, modding cars, turbos vs supercharger, power vs weight. I have to pop my hood to show my goodies. Im finally allow to go in to pick up my gun, but not with out more discussion of the restrictions to the modern car. Driving back, more head light flashing, and thumbs up by two different CHP officers doing traffic control. I love my car.
So much for a quick trip to the gun shop.

speargunsandracecars 05-25-2014 04:41 PM

I get looks here and there. It gets annoying when I'm driving and people get curious. They tend to tailgate or drive right next to me. I avoid driving alongside other vehicles like the plague, especially if I can help it. Lesson learned from riding motorcycles. I had a co-worker of mine say how much it looks like a Ferrari. And some of my off-road-bro co-workers keep referring to it as a rice burner. It's certainly a striking vehicle, but my BRZ is SSM, so it blends it much better than louder colors. Just the way I like it.

alpine 05-25-2014 04:56 PM

Mine is pretty modified so yes, I had a guy asked me if it was a Tesla the other day he almost fell over backwards when I said it was a Subaru hahah
