Lighting Red 05-20-2012 07:49 PM

Wow, those clear markers hit faster than I expected them to.

MmmHamSandwich 05-20-2012 07:56 PM

Exhaust tips for $525. And I thought Subaru charged a lot for a spoiler.

bestwheelbase 05-20-2012 07:57 PM

Cool stuff.

Lighting Red 05-20-2012 07:59 PM

I just checked the link, and all that crap is OOOOOOOOOVER priced.

Scooby South 05-20-2012 07:59 PM

yep...some of that stuff..is OMG pricey.....PASS..

Fortunate Few 05-20-2012 08:01 PM

I hope all of that stuff is significantly marked up. The modellista roof antenna looks way better than other ones ive seen. Simple.

I want the visors and trd trunk lip too.

Scooby South 05-20-2012 08:04 PM

Go to the Store site ...to see specific BRZ items..

Bill

mattles 05-20-2012 08:48 PM

holy JDMtyte-tax, yo.

NYC BRZ 05-20-2012 09:15 PM

Holy shnikes. I'm waiting until we can get part numbers for this stuff and using my super secret squirrel dealer connections for my discount lol. I wonder if STI is going to do the short throw shifter and shift bushing kit?

NO...but KartBoy definitely is..;):party0030:

brianbot5000 05-20-2012 09:20 PM

Call me crazy but I'd just about pay that for the exhaust tips. They're 100% better looking.

Speaking of which, I assume those tips are fairly interchangeable? I assumed they'd be spot welded on, but if not then does anyone know how they are attached? Some serious screws? For that money I'd want to know they aren't going anywhere.

Scooby South 05-20-2012 09:32 PM

^^^ you probably could go to the local muffler shop and get tips put on for a Fraction of that... :)

Exhaust tips are typically held on with a single screw threaded from the bottom applying tension to the exhaust pipe onto which the tip is attached. My guess is that it's the same for the 86.

For that money you can almost buy a catback exhaust. Anyone who pays that much for tips is an utter fool.

If you are desperate just go online or even to Pep Boys (lawl) and buy a set for as low as 1/10th the cost.

OEM tips usually slide on a bracket and are secured with a bolt. Aftermarkets slide on and often have one or more bolts that either bite into the stock pipe or tighten the back of the tip onto the pipe.

uspspro 05-20-2012 09:43 PM

You can get most of that stuff from Carson Toyota for way cheaper

Lighting Red 05-20-2012 09:50 PM

Admittedly, that "Type A" fender garnish is quite good looking.

MmmHamSandwich 05-20-2012 09:55 PM

Admittedly, after seeing that chrome trim for the cup holders, I realized I would pay money for silver bezels on the HVAC controls for the Premium. They look stupidly cheap as is.

I saw one picture where they were brushed silver and it looked much better. Wonder how hard it would be to remove the bezels and at worst, try to paint them.

WingsofWar 05-20-2012 10:46 PM

OEM accessories & tuning parts have always been priced at a incredibly high premium for all makes and models. However at this point, I wouldn't give a second thought about purchasing those items. Why? because it drives the collectors status points up the roof.
Especially being historical first year items, and those items will greatly increase in price as soon as the car switches to classic car status.

Tbxgz 05-20-2012 11:03 PM

where do i click for the ft86club discount?

Scooby South 05-21-2012 01:22 PM

give it some time....these things (knock-offs) will be dirt cheap

I'm sure prices will drop once they realize no one's buying them at these outrageous prices. The rear diffuser is $1049+250 for shipping? Dealer cost in the U.S. is $600. Can probably get one for less than $700. (which is already insane)

Who wants to make these for not $179+shipping? That's plain stoopid!

WRXGuy1 05-21-2012 02:40 PM

It's interesting that these are all from the same seller. I'm sure once other companies get in on this prices will come down. Also, they are located in Japan so I'm sure the price conversion is making them more expensive then they are to them.

They are also trying to capitalize on the fact that they are the only people advertising BRZ/FRS parts on ebay at the moment. Supply and Demand!!!

ESBjiujitsu 05-21-2012 03:37 PM

+10 HP combined lol

But seriously it looks like the buyer is in japan, i would say not bad if he was including the shipping with the items, but hes still adding another 39+ for ems frieght.

Every one of the items he listed we can get for a cheaper price with the shipping from japan included.

Just a heads up guys keep an eye in the vendors forum, i already have a lot of the oem jdm stuff listed and the trd.

We are currenrly waiting for the price on the Modellista stuff including the antenna, and the of course the exhaust tips everyone is asking about.

And if anyone is looking for anything specific please pm anytime

I could but I wouldn't. They'll add to much weight to the car. :D

And the price on that really is "plain stoopid."

Turbowned 05-21-2012 04:22 PM

Aww c'mon man! Half an ounce here, half an ounce there... It won't affect the car's polar moment of inertia unless you move the cupholders closer to the shifter ;)

this JDM stuff is gonna cost an arm n a leg.

jonnyquest 05-22-2012 10:22 AM

This stuff will drop as soon as the car is out for a little while

I kind of doubt both of these... this isn't like the WRX where the tranny is a couple feet ahead of the shifter. I suspect the stick has a very short or possibly even non-existent linkage. From what I've seen so far, the shifter movement is already extremely short, and I suspect it won't need any special bushings. My Elan's shifter goes straight into the gearbox without any linkage, and it is wonderfully short and mechanical-feeling. If the BRZ is anything like that, I will be ecstatic.

...I just did a little looking, and there's some photos of the transmission on this page that show some linkage coming out near the rear of the transmission; I assume that's the linkage we're talking about. Not much there to do anything with. :)

mattles 05-22-2012 11:45 AM

As the 86 is RWD, its transmission hat/turret is directly under the center console, and as such has no linkage or cables/arms/what have you. The shifter rod and bushings go directly into the shifter turret on the back of the transmission unit, and may even be lubricated by the oil in the casing of the transmission.

That being said, even though this is an AZ1 transmission like the s2000, it still seems like it has a longer throw, in my opinion it needs a shorter throw and a shorter overall height, but certainly nothing drastic as its quite a bit better than most cars out these days.

We'll just have to wait and see now wont we

I have all the shifter parts lying on my workbench. We WILL have something... I just need the shop BRZ to hit to test out the prototypes.

Then to see how long it take GTP to make shitty knockoffs.

Tom
