Hey there!

As far as car meets go, stay updated with this sub-forum as meetups are being arranged more frequently now that the weather is cooperating a little better.

Recently, there was a meet that had some 30+ FRS/BRZs show up, and some of the guys from that meet are trying to arrange a bi-weekly meet starting here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65602

There's also a group called BRZ World that hosts events on Facebook.

Bring your skis, Collingwood has the best Ontario has to offer. Blue mountain also has good downhill biking, if you're into that. Wasaga beach is half decent.

Check out TLMC http://www.twinlakesmc.org/ they put on some autocross events throughout the summer in the Barrie Molson Center parking lot which is close to the base

Awesome guys thanks for the info. Any idea what I'll be paying for insurance per month?
In BC I have 40% discount
I'm 24, no accidents... It's around $140 a month right now

23 here, and I'm paying $180 a month, no accidents/tickets either. So you're probably not too far off from $140.

KonTheory 05-18-2014 05:03 PM

Thank god. I was thinking it would be double lol

Welcome to eastern Canada!

Toronto Motorsports Park (TMP) and Canadian Tire Mostorsprt Park (CTMP formerly known as Mosport) are the closest tracks to CFB Borden (each about 2 hours from the base). If you want to travel east toward Ottawa there is also Shannonville Mostorsport Park (SMP) near Kingston and Calabogie Motorsports Park (CMP) about 1 hour northwest-ish of Ottawa. Further west there is Grand Bend Raceway (GBR) on the shores of lake Huron that doubles as a great vacation spot for non-motorsport family members.

CTMP actually has 2 tracks, the Grand Prix track (10 turns and very fast) and the Driver Development Track (known at the DDT it is newly paved and widenened). TMP also has a drag strip as does SMP and GBR.

There are many meets in the GTA area, many of which are not associated with any clubs and usually organized via forums such as this one or others.

A few links for you:

Is it illegal to have tinted windows in Ontario?
I assume I'll have to get an inspection done for switching provinces,

No, not necessarily. There isn't a set % of tint that is "illegal", it is to the discretion of the police officer. My friend has 20% tints and he hasn't ran into any trouble. But if you're being a nuisance and looking to be pulled over, the officer can say "your tints are too dark, and it's illegal.".

The O.P.P. seems to have been gifted by the current provincial gov't. Their budget not only included full auto shortie M16's and ceramic barrier vests in every cruiser, the tail light chasers even bought light meters to read window tint.

SWAT equipped traffic cops - Maybe they will use the machine guns to shoot at the motorcycles they are not legally allowed to chase.:thumbdown:

What are some good shops around Toronto?
That could potentially install a turbo kit, and have a dyno?

I would say either Alpha Motorsports or Touge Tuning should be good for the install. For dyno tuning most people go to Sasha from On Point Dyno.

ParangWala 06-27-2014 09:02 AM

I haven't used them but they seem to be a popular shop due to a certain pro drifter.
http://cyriousgarageworks.com

I've heard good things about tuning from Sasha and he has done some of the local FR-S/BRZ cars. You could always contact him http://www.onpointdyno.com and see if he has a recommended shop for you.

Hope this helps.

Borden is sort of in the middle of nowhere, you'll get to know hwy 400 quite well I imagine.

TLMC does auto-x just south of Barrie, really close to you.

OPSash 09-24-2014 02:08 PM

Welcome. I believe one of my customers Daniel Lampron has also been relocated to Bordon. He has a 370z Time Attack car that he is working on. Perhaps you guys will become friends.

Pat has done a lot of great work on the FR-S / BRZ, as does Chris at Touge Tuning.

I would be glad to help with dyno tuning of course.

Thanks,
