For those that have them, whats the MPG?

Anyone know the MPG so far? And has anyone tried putting less then 93 in it?

WRXGuy1 05-20-2012 12:42 PM

The new mileage estimates seem to be pretty accurate these days, so I would expect to see around 28MPG.

dori. 05-20-2012 12:43 PM

you can put 91 in the car. you have to be able to because Cali peeps can't get any better than that swill at normal gas stations.

And um, I'll be making an (well formatted) MPG thread once more people get their cars (and have broken them in) . Kinda pointless to aggregate data when only like 3 people have the car lol.

But to help you out, when I spoke to the Subaru rep that was at my dealer, he said that he got 32 mpg highway in a Limited manual.
Unless you just want

GrimmSpeed 05-20-2012 12:58 PM

In the other thread people were answering high 20's low 30's which is pretty badass IMO!

dwcnmv 05-20-2012 02:02 PM

The little meter says I'm averaging 25. however that is with plenty of spirited outings with passengers. I doubt the accuracy of the meter though. In my past experience they haven't been great. I'll be getting real numbers once I fill it up a few times and record mileage.

F**K That!!! Move outta Cali ASAP! I pay $4.05 for 93 in MA, and even that feels steep.

What's with the look?
I pay 4.30(premium) here in Seattle.

Chauntalei 05-20-2012 05:38 PM

91 Premium is about 4.30-4.60 here in the San Francisco Bay Area, depending where you are.

Regular here in NY is $3.90~. Don't really recall 93 prices, since my car uses 87 atm, but it's around $4.20~ I'd say.

Queens by me.

Big T 05-20-2012 08:11 PM

3.71 for 93 in central TX

Scooby South 05-20-2012 08:26 PM

The Area District Sales Rep is driving a Pre-production Limited ..and after talking with him...he was saying with the manual trans...was avg about 34 mpg...:)...from what I am seeing...as long as you drive it gingerly..you CAN save some Gas...and get Great MPG... but then theres that pesky Right Pedal BEGGING TO BE PUT DOWN...;)..aahhhhhhh ...

Poughkeepsie

cwik 05-20-2012 08:40 PM

I've done about 160 miles or so in my manual limited BRZ, and I'm averaging 21 MPG. Fuel efficiency is going to be all over the place as you break the car in (you drive differently than if the engine was worked in), and the engine is still settling in. I assume the numbers will reach some equilibrium after the first 1000 miles or so.

mechaghost 05-20-2012 09:56 PM

I'm at 27.7 on AT with 600 miles

I love how this turned into a gas cost thread. Anywhere from $3.57 - $3.69 here in NH.

Wow Dadhawk..

That's very impressive and very encouraging. I'm sure my milage will be worse than that since I am getting a MT. But, for you being more city than hwy.. that is excellent mpg numbers.

Plus, most cars see better mpgs as they continue breaking in.. so you could certainly see those numbers increase another 2-3 mpgs over the next 5k to 10k miles.

HotLavaMann 05-24-2012 01:18 PM

I setup a fuelly page to track mine.

mattles 05-24-2012 01:49 PM

Check my sig for fuelly -- I figured this would be helpful to everyone out there~

NYC BRZ 05-24-2012 02:20 PM

Got my Fuelly account set up not I just need the car. My G8 is a joke. I avg 11.5mpg since 90% of my driving is City.

mechaghost 05-24-2012 03:12 PM

I'm at 27.9 mpg now. Third tank of gas with 700 miles on the odo

WingsofWar 05-24-2012 03:36 PM

im getting some reports in japan of people getting anywhere from 45-60 mpg city driving with some light spirited driving in town in the GT86 AT models.

cwik 05-24-2012 04:06 PM

I just went for my first fill up in my MT Limited and got 21.2 MPG, although I'm purposely not driving it super efficient while I break it in (don't want to stay at the same speed for too long, so I'm slowly accelerating and decelerating all of the time which isn't great for fuel efficiency).

60mpg consistently is a bit sketch sounding unless they don't have stop signs/lights around but 60mpg at say 40mph cruising in 6th gear is plausible. Gotta love that 0.582 6th gear, 1300rpm lol.

However with a MT you can use the higher gears below 30mph so with hardcore frequently shifting to not stall, you can probably pull the most utterly ridiculous city mpg off.

Mine is not that had but I feel your pain. In time we will both be happily enjoying half the cylinders and twice the fun!

What are you driving now? (sorry to thread jack) I'm nervous about going from a 354whp/361lbft torque monster to the BRZ, lol. It will be more rewarding when I have to fill up less and get to have more fun at autocrosses/everyday though. You just can't use all of that power in NY other than getting on highways and passing people, lol.

Is Japan downhill no matter where you go?

Turbowned 05-25-2012 02:54 PM

Maybe they meant 45-60km/gallon ;)

I noticed the avg. fuel economy went up considerably over time when I got my new Audi in January. I've put about 8,500 miles on it so far and it's gone up from a long-time average of 19mpg to 22.1mpg. The EPA estimates it gets up to 27mpg on the highway; I averaged 30mpg on my last 80 mile trip. I think we can do better than what the EPA estimates. It all depends on your driving style and traffic conditions, though.

2005 CTS-V. I wanted to try an American V8. Now that I can check it off my bucket list, I am ready to move on. To your good point about usable power... I think one element of that is the size/weight of cars like the CTS-V and G8. They've got sporting flavor but ultimately they're cruisers. I want to get back in to a smaller/lighter platform.

Most definitely. This is where smooth inputs and looking ahead can really make a difference. Example: Approaching intersections, I often look at the cross-traffic signals to know when mine will turn green... why hurry and stop at a red light when you can roll through without wasting energy? :w00t:
