Yes, we know.

MokSpeed 05-15-2014 01:28 PM

No minor changes so still glad I bought mine when I did! Curious to see this new shade of halo pearl though.

Turbo95eg6 05-15-2014 01:40 PM

Tips still look too small. Too bad they couldn't add the JDM ones.

acg2010 05-15-2014 01:46 PM

Steel looks pretty close to the 10 series colors. Nice color, it really grew on me over time, and now that color shifting from silver to blue to an almost battleship-ish grey is one of my favorites.

And at least the automatic price only went up 200 bucks.

2015 Scion FR-S Gets Re-Tuned Suspension, Appearance Updates, Price Drop

Quote:

The Scion FR-S is half of our favorite set of affordable new sports car twins, and for the 2015 model year, it’s getting just a bit better.

Already a compact bundle of fun, the 2015 FR-S gains a more rigid front suspension and re-tuned rear dampers for less body roll and more chassis-driver communication.

On the appearance front, the 2015 Scion FR-S gets a shark-fin antenna to replace the previous pole antenna and larger exhaust tips that fit more flush against the rear bumper. Inside the cabin, the new FR-S will get a new carbon fiber-look interior panel and automatic on-off headlights. A new Steel exterior color replaces the previous Argento, while the pearl white Halo ($395) replaces the previous Whiteout.

Best of all, despite the equipment and handling upgrades, the 2015 Scion FR-S starts out $355 cheaper than the 2014 model, with the base six-speed manual version starting at $24,900, and the six-speed auto starting from $26,000.

Good news for sure!! Every little bit counts. That 355 will pay for gas and mods :P

Rampage 05-15-2014 02:57 PM

What do you want to bet that the suspension changes and re-tuning of the rear shocks makes the rear end stick better and harder to induce oversteer or drift?

That would be the end result of all the boyracer and drifter wannabees spinning off the roads and into curbs, trees, telephone poles, ditches, cliffs, etc.

I must be the only person that hates the looks of Shark Wart (Uh, I mean Fin) antennas. I like the rest of the updates on the 15 but if I were to buy one at some point down the road then I would have to revert the antenna back to the original base with a shorty style mast.

NLS8520 05-15-2014 03:00 PM

Thanks for posting this info. I was curious what the exhaust tips would look like, a huge improvement. I like them quite a bit actually. Also nice to see the new white on a twin.

Zaku 05-15-2014 03:01 PM

If you want to see the colors just take a look at the new WRX they have the same white and Silver, BRZ will also be the same color just official Subaru color names instead of SCION names.

Also, I have the feeling, and this is just a hunch that the FRS suspension tuning is to make it more similar to the BRZ's suspension tuning which was different since launch.

I think the exhaust tips are the same size, no?

Yeah same tips farther in for safety standards to avoid burn risk.

It has some noticible pearl in it… There's a 15 WRX STI with the Crystal white at Carr Subaru in Beaverton, if you wanna check it out. It's a few shades whiter than SWP without the cream/yellow hue.

They have to be different. The JDM ones are/can be pushed in all the way, and still long enough to come out past the bumper. The US ones are more than likely shortened due to regulations.

21_nola_05 05-15-2014 03:35 PM

Looks like some sort of matte black color ? could be the lighting

Kimsey47 05-15-2014 03:37 PM

Wow, nice to know I won't be missing out with my 86! To all those who were waiting for 2015 for the "turbo" version:

FyeaFRS 05-15-2014 03:37 PM

Sooo....shark fin antenna and what?... different tips on the same exhaust?

If there's anything else, it didn't jump out, which equates to worthless.

Down? The msrp on the '13 was 25,255 and '14 was 25,455..?

CruiseZen 05-15-2014 03:43 PM

I think the biggest news in this is that the most popular color for the FR-S, Whiteout, is being discontinued and replaced by Halo Pearl. Wonder why?

Yeah when I installed my JDM ones I actually had to push them past the little built in bump stop thing because they stuck out way too far. Now they stick out about 1/4 inch and you cant see the back end of them like you can in the new scion pic

mikko86 05-15-2014 03:47 PM

Were the knee pads only on the monograms? I coulda sworn I read somewhere they were added to 2014 models but now removed for 2015?

If you have a current model then why would you care? Shock retuning and increased stability. Minor but they are changes.

Veloist 05-15-2014 03:49 PM

That's pretty cool. I'm interested in seeing the white in person. I'm going to check my local Subaru dealerships to see if they have an STI in that White color for now.

Halo sounds like a pretty cool name for a color.

So resale on the old cars with that color can go up, lol.

subiestyle 05-15-2014 04:06 PM

I've always wanted the white on the FRS to be much whiter.

I'm gonna have to trade mine in, not really.

N1rve 05-15-2014 04:12 PM

I WANT THOSE TIPS!!! LOL

Comparison Pricing minus 755 delivery. (MSRP) Prices are from Scion.com

Per Press release: "All prices listed exclude the delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee of $755".

2013-24,500 --- 2015-24,900 + $400

2014-24,700 --- 2015-24,900 + $200

How this is $355 less i don't understand. Did I do the math wrong?

Edited, 2013 was 24,500

hur1ey02 05-15-2014 04:14 PM

^ agreed. I would like a bright white. Sharkfin looks good. The standard exhaust tips are pathetic, anyways. They need replaced for sure. Good call on the auto on/off headlights, too.

Well whoever thought a turbo version will ever come out has to reconsider in buying a different car.

D88 05-15-2014 04:19 PM

By auto on/off headlights are they speaking about DRLs whenever you start/turn off the car or do they mean the headlight/taillight lights you turn on for night driving will come on when it's dark enough?

Ahh, my mistake, it says MSRP above the price, so I assumed it included the 755 like it does on Scion's website for the 2013 and 2014. Didn't see the line on the press release below what's shown in the first post about the prices.

The 2013 is 24,500 without the 755 and the 2014 is 24,700 for the manual so the increase from the 2014 is 200, you're right.

The auto is 25,800 for the 2014 now 26,000 so 200 on that one too. Guess motor authority messed that one up.

Standardizing of color options, this happens quite often. Subaru started with Crystal White Pearl, or "Halo", on the brand new 2015 WRX, which we will most likely see trickle down to the rest of the 2015 line, including the BRZ and of course the FR-S.

maxeveland 05-15-2014 04:34 PM

"A new designed key"

Anyone know what this looks like??
