Bought my Frs, waiting for deliverey

(EDIT) Last night my girl and I signed the paperwork for her red manual FRS. Total cost after taxes license and fees, including permaplate, wheel locks rear bumper app and carpeted trunk mat $27169. Before taxes, fees and permaplate it was $25150ish. Dealer said they should be finally delivered before the end of next week and we can take it before June first.:D

v12 05-19-2012 10:43 PM

Awesome:D

YukiHachiRoku 05-19-2012 10:46 PM

Gratz! Red is a sexy color!

kyolml 05-19-2012 11:23 PM

Hey, your number doesn't add up for the total, I assume your county sales tax at 8.25%, your totol is less than that of the MSRP*1.0825

clayrush 05-20-2012 12:03 AM

o crap yeah forgot to add perma plate to the OG sell price. I added it last min because I liked it on my Highlander.

Prava 05-20-2012 01:13 AM

Nice, bro!

bestwheelbase 05-20-2012 01:25 AM

Congrats! What is perma plate?

It is an extra clear coat but i think it is more like a urethane or some Sort of plastic. It is really nice cuz u don't need to wax the car. And on my last car it seemed like fingerprints did not show up as much and dirt sorta wiped off. Also makes it more resistant to light scratches.

Interesting. What did it cost?

Also: Clarify the time frame that goes with the "don't need to wax the car" statement.

ngabdala 05-20-2012 02:22 AM

To maintain longevity in the paint you should wash it, clay it, wax it when you get it. You want to get the rail dust and other crap/toxins that's harmful to the paint with the claying before adding a clear applique to the car.

Judging by a google search, it basically appears to be dealer profit.

Dave-ROR 05-20-2012 09:28 AM

Congrats!

devo6273 05-20-2012 10:10 AM

Clayrush- Were you the one who said you were getting your car from the Vallejo dealership? If so, did you figure out a way to get them to not drill the front plate holes? When I asked them about it they said it was a no-go.

clayrush 05-20-2012 01:34 PM

doing a little more research, maybe i will pass on perma plate. I liked it on my Highlander, but maybe it was just because it was a brand new car and i thought it was better with it on.

As far as not drilling holes for the front plate, they did not seem game on the idea of not doing it. But i dropped the issue because MY girl decided she rather have the plate on the front.

Yeah, completely personal preference. I'm debating whether its worth it to try and convince them not to do it if I provide a plate relocation kit prior to driving it off the lot. Don't really want to go to the trouble of purchasing parts for a car until I'm 100% committed to buying.

Have they received your vehicle yet (ie have you gotten to check it out, test drive) or had you decided you were purchasing no matter what? I told myself I had to make sure that I could at least fit my wife in the back seat for short trips if we ever wanted to go out for a meal with friends or something.

clayrush 05-20-2012 03:23 PM

Just got back from the dealer, I droped the perma plate. shave 10 bucks a month off my payments. They did not give me a vin, but they have some serial number D1701683 and they know the build date. They know the car is at the dock and are just waiting for the truck to bring it. They don't have a exact date other than by the 27th.

no test drive or anything. best look we got was the BRZ's less than 10 feet away at the dock in Richmond CA and FRS about 30 feet away Belicia ca. Perhaps it is a bit odd to buy a car without any real interaction, but hell i bought my GT-S and i did not know how to drive a manual. :D

bestwheelbase 05-20-2012 04:03 PM

Good call on the perma plate. When you said "never wax the car" I began to wonder exactly how much snake oil they were selling.

Congrats! I am also getting a firestorm MT, but no accessory on mine. I heard the same thing from the dealer also. Our cars are at the dock, and they will be delivered to the dealers in the last week of May. By the way, your serial number looks like the last 8 digit of your vin number.

Yes :(

Fish 05-20-2012 07:57 PM

Nice, I'll be getting a Firestorm MT as well. While I got my VIN a couple weeks ago, all they have for the ETA is first week of June. I wish mine were getting here as early as everyone elses. I've been asking them to not install the front license plate bracket and can only hope they actually listen to me.

Depending where you live, I believe you can request thta they not drill the holes/not install the front license plate at all. I live in California and it is law to have a front license plate, so I have to have the holes drilled, obvoiusly. Do a little research, but I will bet that you are in the same boat as I am... I'm gonna fill the holes and paint over them. Then buy a kit to put the license plate under one of the headlights (not sure which one, yet). :sigh:

Tell your dealer not to touch your car with a drill, do this:

Correct me if I'm wrong... I thought that the vehicle comes with the holes already drilled for the license plate. No?:iono:

I don't think so. At least I've personally never seen that. I know when I was working at a BMW dealer there were no predrilled holes in the bumper. Some had hidden notches on the bottom to line up the license plate bracket. We were also specifically told not to "permanently" install the front brackets on the M cars. Would be nice if they were told the same thing with these vehicles.

It's simple. You tell the dealership that you will not take delivery of the car if they drill holes into your bumper. Tell them that you are willing to sign something taking responsibility for the decision in case you get a ticket for it, etc. I've purchased 2 new cars from different dealerships in NY where front plates are mandatory, and both dealers were cool with not putting it on the car. I also have friends that have done the same. Just make sure you get it in writing when you purchase the car that they do not drill the front bumper. Nothing ruins the look of any car faster IMO.

I was quite surprised, they flat out said "Our owner has forbidden this and if it's a dealbreaker let me know and I will refund your deposit." I didn't feel like fighting it too hard at the time so I let it slide.

I am going to let my dealer to drill the front plate holes simply because I don’t want to get pull over. I’m living in a city that has cop pulling over people for minor issues or lame reasons. Over the years, I got pull over for burnt front light, small minor windshield crack, side mount front plate (he thought I had no front plate), and less-than-full 3 second stop signal stop (the cop pull his stopwatch showing I stopped only for 2.5 seconds! Wtf!:iono:) When I first got my tC in 2004, I even got pull over for speeding going 35 mph in a 35 mph zone. Yes, going 35 in a 35 zone!:paddle: Of course, they dismissed the ticket later on. My friend said the cop just wanted to see what kind of car I was driving:iono:. I can imagine when I get my FR-S next week, the cops will look for every reason to pull me over. I don’t want to get extra attention, so I’ll let the dealer to drill the holes.

MrFRsLa 05-21-2012 09:45 PM

Sports car with front plates......ahhh man

Anything with 9-11 Rear plate frames = no tickets here

Seriously half the people that special ordered Prius Plugins from me didn't get front plates AND THAT CAR COMES WITH AN ELETRICAL PLUG!

(Cop pulls me over)

(Rolls down both illegal tinted front windows)(who knows might tint the windsheild)

Officer : Do you know why I pulled you over?

MrFRsLa : Why did you forget??

Score 1 for MrFRsLa!

I've done that in my first car, but the cop remember:mad0260:. He gave me a fix ticket.
