Random guess, $35k max.

FyeaFRS 05-12-2014 10:45 PM

A vortech sc kit and Perrin oil cooler. I have those, does that make me cool too?

How much do you think parts alone cost?

unsurety 05-13-2014 02:32 AM

Aftermarket parts almost never add to the value of a car. At least, nowhere near the cumulative value of the parts were when they were new.

Essentially, if this car is exactly how you'd build your car, you'll probably be getting a bargain.

For the SC, air suspension, and wheels alone its almost $10k. So maybe $15k-$17k total... but no one's gonna pay $40k for someone else's project car.

Lol @ reserve price not met. I guess some people pay the money for someone else's project, I couldn't do that myself.

mark0006 05-14-2014 01:52 AM

Its funny there are 44 bids and the current bid barely moves up. Looks like people are bidding a penny at a time. LOL

Pfffft, the wheels/tires, and supercharger alone come out to over $10,000. Air suspension alone is another 3k or more. Plus the rest of his suspension components, would bring the total to nearly 15k. There's a good 4k on the interior. 3k or so for the exterior. So there's 21k. Then add on the brakes and stereo stuff and you're in another couple thousand easily. There's still a couple grand more too from the other engine/drivetrain components.

We're talking a good 25k worth of parts on the car in all reality. While I agree that most aren't going to pay 40k for it, there are certainly people who would if they could. 30k or so isn't unreasonable for this thing, especially since the car has like 4k miles on it and it's already gotten a load of publicity on various media pages. That being said, I would hardly call this a "project car". This thing is finished and fully functional/drive able. If there were things missing or incomplete, I would agree but there isn't.

You or I may not be willing to pay that much, but somebody else is. I guarantee it.

Why are you stating new part prices on used parts? And how many people actually want to buy a car they haven't worked on themselves? And why do people part out their cars when selling if they can get face value for a car+parts together? And how is a car someone plans, works on, and builds not their project car? And why did you ignore the part where I said he might be able to get $35k for it which is reasonable. Is this your brother or something, cause you seem pretty angry over it.

OICU812 05-16-2014 10:41 AM

Well at least it's not over done, fairly tastefull overall really. If someone was going to drop 30k anyhow I mean this has 50+ in it with super low miles etc....that's said as a guess I'll say his reserve is no less the 35K

MeehowsBRZ 05-16-2014 10:46 AM

+1

It is a nice looking car.

Lmao I'm not even angry.

I stated prices in the same manner you did. You said wheels, suspension, and supercharger are 10k...when in fact, the wheels and supercharger by themselves comes to 10k. These are prices as new yes.. But I'm just following suit as you did.

This is a complete show car. When I think project car, I think work in progress. But to each their own.

I didn't ignore anything. You said nobody is going to pay 40k for the car. I said you might be right, but there might be somebody who will. I said mid 30s is reasonable, which you said too. If anything, I was agreeing.

And how many sentences must you start with the word "and"? :bonk:

I agree, for once a tuner didn't use a huge wing in the back. The car is tastefully done.

lol, I'm not a morning person... I shouldn't post before noon because I'm crabby and don't proof read. :D Yeah, I didn't mean 'project car' in a negative way, clearly the car is complete and looks amazing.

mark0006 05-17-2014 05:16 AM

njccmd2002 05-17-2014 08:36 AM

been there done that, bought someone elses gremlins, and got burned. granted it was a cheap car, still lost money...

fairz 05-17-2014 11:39 AM

I've seen that car in person at Wekfest last year in Houston, it looked magestic, at the show it was for sure the best BRZ there.

OICU812 05-20-2014 09:17 AM

Did it sell or reserve was never met?

Maowc 05-20-2014 10:27 AM

I always build my own car. Just the satisfaction of knowing the before and after of the mods. Only cars ill actually buy would be factory tuned like AMG and nismo or M
