Best Subaru OEM parts we can get

I won a $250 voucher for OEM parts at a local dealer.

I am trying to find nice BRZ accessories to get.

Unfortunately, I'm not finding anything I like.

Please offer your ideas, including any Impreza STI parts that fit our car and are actual performance improvements.

Thanks!!

Search for the Forrester xt oil cooler

That was going to be my idea as well.

Reaper 05-05-2014 12:08 AM

Dont forget you could also buy shirts and hats and a coffee cup and a Subaru thermos and a block heater. Id go that route if I already had cool oil.

Will they let you use it on any of the items here: http://www.subaru.com/enthusiasts/gear/index.html

There's pretty much everything on here from key chains to watches to shirts.

Turbo95eg6 05-05-2014 12:14 AM

Plate frame
Sti valve cap covers
Rear cargo trunk Matt
Sun visor cover
Exhaust tips
Framless mirror from Toyota
Mud flaps

STI strut bar ?

If you don't have the OEM rubber trunk mat, take a look at it. I usually keep my back seat down. Anything sitting on the carpeted area (seat back) slides around as I'm driving. But everything on the rubber trunk mat stays put. I suppose it also protects the carpet.

I actually bought the thing by accident. I was trying to order the silly cargo organizer, but the dealer clicked the trunk mat instead. Turned out to be a great mistake.

Also, that fitted sun visor is a great accessory, especially if you live in an area with plenty of sun. When I forget to put it up, the steering wheel and gear shift knob are like fire.

*cough* Sell the voucher on here for $175 *cough*

I agree, I use my trunk everyday and it's a must have.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions! I should have given a little background. My car is turbo and have pretty much updated everything on it. Added mod list to OP.

Radiator/oil cooler, exhaust. It is a voucher to use at the local subaru dealer. I have homelink mirror, I have sun visor.

No need for block heater in FL.

I would sell the voucher for $200, but it's a paper to be used only at that dealer.

The STI strut bar is an interesting one but I wonder if the dealer can actually order it.

I was wondering if the Impreza STI swaybars are actually an improvement over our stock ones... @CSG Mike

Get the RED LED footwell illumination kit, just picked up my car a few days ago with it and it is awesome.

Sportsguy83 05-05-2014 11:01 AM

I'm almost resigned to just buy the subwoofer, even thought I'm not crazy about it.

OrbitalEllipses 05-05-2014 11:02 AM

Keep it for gaskets, bolts, pop-rivets and other consumable garbage. If you want STI swaybars, they're cheap on the used market as take-offs while using a voucher for a new one would be a waste given the cost (IMO anyway).

Where did you get those from?

I did the same on my old GTI. It was a great cheap mod.

The problem is its a one time use voucher and no cash value so whatever is not used, is lost. I thought about getting all in filters and selling them, but that would be painfully slow.

vroom4 05-05-2014 11:44 AM

Oil and filters.

gramicci101 05-05-2014 11:47 AM

It's a shame you don't live out here; the Subaru dealer sells Motul fluids and GTSpec parts.

Wow... I would go for that!!

sklimo 05-05-2014 11:49 AM

Get shit ton of crush washers and oil filters. Coolant maybe also??

When I was buying crush washers the guy at the parts counter tried to argue with me that putting Motul 300 in the transmission would void the warranty and I needed to use genuine Subaru fluid. I go to the cashier to pay for my washers, and there's a big stand of Motul 300 and 300LS right there.

He also didn't want to sell me the crush washers to begin with. "The fluid shouldn't be changed out this soon, what does the Subaru maintenance plan require?" It doesn't matter what it requires, old man. I feel like changing my fluid. If I wanted to do it every week, I could.

Floggin Tires 05-05-2014 12:35 PM

I would agree with shit tons of oil n filters.

Well, make sure to get at least like 50 of those pop-rivets when you do buy everything else. I've only taken the engine bellypan off a handful of times and those pop-rivets are straight fucked.

BRZtoni 05-05-2014 03:02 PM

Pop rivets, gaskets and oil filters and possibly panel screws

It changes the dynamics of the car, but it isn't necessarily an "improvement" per se. It really depends on what you're looking for in terms of how the car responds to steering input and which end breaks loose first at terminal cornering speeds.

If your local dealer can order STI catalog stuff, I'd recommend you get other things:

Metal oil filler cap (sucks when your plastic one breaks... it takes a long time, but they all eventually do)
1.3 bar radiator cap (more pressure before it flows into the reservoir)
STI shift knob, if you like it.

Maybe the STI strut brace bar (yeah, it's floppy, but it doesn't work by bending... its a torsion/compression bar)

Thanks a lot man, very valuable info!

Does your dealer do a full line of tires? Can it be used on tires? My dealer promised me tire rack pricing on an upgraded set of Michelins...if I had one of those vouchers I'd be real happy.

Awesome. Will that review include a part #?

qitorr 05-05-2014 06:51 PM

The new keyfobs reported for the 2015 limited look really nice if they do in fact come out. Not sure when they could be ordered and if there is a time limit on your voucher.

+1 for the key fob. Hopefully they aren't too expensive.

Don't think the dealer can order any of that stuff (I could be wrong cuz my local dealer has STI Performance parts for the WRX STI). The new STI metal oil filler cap for the BRZ also allows it to be opened with a socket wrench in case it gets stuck.
