Took my Stock-ish BRZ to the 1/4mile. Very pleased

Ran my 2014 BRZ at my local 1/4mile dragstrip a few days back. Temp was around 70* and the pressure was unusually high for Alabama. Track was very well prepped as well.

Car is a 6spd manual with a handful of "mods":

Perrin Crank pulley
Perrin drop in air filter
Perrin shift and trans bushings

That's it. I was very pleased with my times. Ran it 5 times total. I was very happy with its consistency.

This was my best run of the night.

nice work

Liehtw8 05-04-2014 07:48 PM

Not bad at all :respekt:

SHOspazz92 05-05-2014 07:43 PM

That 60' time is what got you there. Nice runs.

Nice. What's your launch sequence?

Mister 05-06-2014 01:37 PM

Nice! That is a great 60 foot. You must have launched pretty damn near perfect.
Are you running stock tires?

I miss going to the strip, have not done it for a couple years, not since I had my Camaro. If I ever get some power mods on the FRS I'll go to see what it can do.

ML 05-06-2014 02:02 PM

nice, best Ive done on stock tires was a 9.7 , so gives me hope.

TchDwnUGA 05-07-2014 06:11 PM

I pretty much just turned T/C off, revved it up to 4500rpms then slipped the clutch a slight bit before dumping it. I had Zero wheel spin or hopping issues.

The track was prepped very well. My other runs had 60fts around 2.2. One run even trapped 95.2mph but I had a 2.23 60ft, which killed it.

TchDwnUGA 05-08-2014 08:05 AM

A couple pics from that night. I was 4 for 4 against the Mustang. It was a 96 4.6 Auto. Guy got desperate after the 2nd run and decided to go put drag radials on a 15 second car. Can't polish a turd, so it still ran 15s, just with a slightly better 60ft, lol.

And I was happy about my 14.7 (2.0 60') with just an air filter, no muffler and RE760s. Our track was TOO well prepped. Wish I had brought less sticky tires haha. ~80F with high humidity.

Good job. There is another tenth in the 60ft, which is nearly worth 2 tenths top end so you have a 14.5 easily waiting with a slightly quicker launch!

SLC_BRZ 05-08-2014 09:16 AM

Nice work

DarkSunrise 05-08-2014 10:41 AM

Not bad at all for nearly stock.

Kido1986 05-08-2014 11:08 AM

At your track, is a 4.000 or 0.000 perfect RT? Our time slips are at 0.000.

FT86boxer 05-09-2014 01:01 AM

that's pretty good time for stock

Grassroots_BRZ 05-09-2014 02:06 PM

Nice. Didn't think the quarter mile on this car could be that good.

gily25 05-09-2014 05:51 PM

Nice pics...we haven't seen many drag pics with mostly stock 86's. It's usually just the big turbo builds.

yeahigotnothing 05-14-2014 10:38 AM

Good times, man, nice to see BRZ owners winning on the strip after having to hear so much about the twin's lack of power/numbers.

These cars are super slow in a straight line.

Bragging about barely beating some old crapbox Mustang..

Everything is relative. Theres no car on earth that cab beat yhe teletron 5000 that will come out in 20 years so why should anyone bother? Maybe..... fun?

TchDwnUGA 06-02-2014 08:12 PM

I think I'm going to try and head back this Friday. Weather should be fairly similar to last time (according to the forecast), if anything, it'll be hotter.

I've since installed a Zeta intake tube to delete the sound generator. I also have a set of rear diff bushings I'd like to get installed if I have the time.

Not expecting any measurable improvement from either, but I'd like to see if I can get my 60ft down and trap 95+. The car trapped 95.2 on a previous run, but I had a poorer 60ft. Im thinking there's a 14.5 in the car.

Will update!

This was my best run of the night.

Great numbers! I hope that my numbers are some where near those.

Was this with stock wheels and tires? Also do you know the DA - Density Altitude? Here in Southern California we have a DA above 2,000 at Fontana Auto Club Speedway. I haven't taken the BRZ up there yet but my GT-R ran multiple 11.1 @ 124mph.

I'm hoping for solid #'s out of my 100% stock BRZ.

Cheers,

-Nate

TchDwnUGA 06-03-2014 12:00 AM

Yes, it was on the stock wheels and tires on the stock pressures.

Here's the upcoming DA for the track I will be running at. I don't know what the #s were on the night that ran.

I don't know if you noticed, but it's 2014.

Our cars would have been fast during the Stone Age, too.
