No deep low sound?

Is there any exhaust out there that doesn't sound deep & low? I am trying to avoid the whole boxer rumble thing.

This one sounds pretty decent, but wondering are they any other out there.

You could always swap out the boxer engine....

That video... reminded me of the Honda B series motors...

husker741 05-03-2014 02:01 PM

Buy a shitty eBay exhaust. The rasp and leaks will hide the rumble.

gramicci101 05-03-2014 02:02 PM

Get an equal length header instead of an unequal length header.

akahenry 05-03-2014 02:19 PM

...wtf i actually want that deep & low boxer rumble.

86-tundra 05-03-2014 04:11 PM

OP's video sounds like my car in high revs, and I've got uel :iono:

brianhj 05-03-2014 04:24 PM

EL header, OP

I kinda prefer that sound over the obnoxious UEL

FR-S Matt 05-03-2014 04:50 PM

Sell your car or get an equal length header.

UEL is hardly obnoxious. EL fartcan honda sounding is obnoxious. I like my deep rumble and sounding like a WRX.

enwave 05-03-2014 05:07 PM

Just keep your car in the high RPM range. That's the main reason you like the sound in the video -- even UEL headers at higher RPM sound less "rumble" and more smooth. But yes, EL will sound smoother all the way around.

I have a UEL and love it.

Wtf, buy a VW diesel.

radroach 05-03-2014 06:41 PM

auto factory is my favorite GT86 tuned setup! They've got a lot on it, like a 5.1 gear ratio, and full exhaust setup with OP and FP. I think their dolphin tail exhaust alone is around $3k.

DarkSunrise 05-03-2014 09:17 PM

Most EL headers will provide that sound. Here's Nameless EL header:

And JDL:

JW89225 05-03-2014 10:47 PM

^ Not bad ! Guess I'll go for a EL header. I guess boxer rumble just never did it for me. I really like the boxer sound on those GT3 though, maybe I'll have to look into that in a couple more years!

Am I the only one who likes both? For me it is only if the exhaust is too loud, raspy or drones. I love how my nameless sounds, and I also like matts Jdl UEL. To each their own. I went nameless in hopes of more power in the dip, and I'm very happy with it.

This is a great look on it. Everyone should be happy we have so many options to customize. The aftermarket exploded for this car.

enwave 05-04-2014 12:18 AM

Definitely agree that both sound great. I had a hard time choosing my header. If EL sounds more like your cup of tea, you won't regret it! I just don't want everyone to think the UEL sounds like cheesy rumble :)

All exhausts are gonna sound "low" at LOW rpms and less at higher rpms.

That's pretty insightful

Panda Mao 05-05-2014 08:18 PM

but every motor has its distinct sound and the rumble u get out of the boxer is just the way the motor naturally sounds. well I heard that with equal length headers it helps tone down the rumble to more of a typical 4 banger sound from inline 4's but that kinda defeats the purpose although I wish I can have the sound of a small liter v8 from exotics i dont know why but i luv that sound but I do still luv the boxer rumble too

IAmNotTheDriftKing 05-05-2014 10:43 PM

Choose the dark side. Become one of us. Either way, get some EL headers for that race car sound! I think both sound great, I mean how can you not love this?
