Decisions decisions...

So I'm in the process of getting my FR-S currently, but I am stuck in a perdictament.

I want to get a Monogram FR-S 6spd in Raven, the dealership I work for cannot get one as no one wants to trade and they cant locate one any other way. They have a 13' Firestorm that has been sitting for the past year which they are willing to give me at cost, it does have the TRD exhaust on it already as it was supposed to be one of the managers demos. Now of course this makes a great deal for me but the orange is so meh.

I know of another dealership that has a black monogram for sale nearby, should I pull a **** move and go to that dealership with all my paperwork and try to get them to match or should I just take the better deal. AHhhhhhhhhh:mad0260:

Ultimately do what YOU feel is best. This is a huge investment and you don't want to have any regrets, even if that means going elsewhere to get the car you want....don't settle!

What the hell?

Your sense of loyalty is misguided. Why should you have to accept a substitute product you don't really want to make the dealer happy? If they want your money, they're supposed to be making you happy.

They don't have what you want. Another dealer does. Go buy what you want from the guy who has it. That's just business.

If the dealer were trying to substitute a tC, would you be willing to take that deal out of your sense of loyalty? The difference is only a matter of degree.

I really can't get my head around having that kind of loyalty to a car dealer that I would buy a car I didn't want to keep them happy.

So I was talking to the sales manager and found out that its 0% interest, OJ here I come baby.

Jond63 05-03-2014 03:47 PM

Is it Firestorm or Hot Lava?

jflogerzi 05-03-2014 04:10 PM

Get the color you want. Don't settle over a few thousands of $$

Hot Lava, and I'm going with the 0%, its about $100 a month difference in payment compared to the monogram.

AVodka14 05-03-2014 04:22 PM

Get the Raven Monogram. Saving money may sound appealing up front. Yet buyer's remorse can set in quite quickly.

D_Thissen 05-03-2014 04:28 PM

But do you want the monogram? If you do, and can afford it, get it! Like everyone said, its a big investment to not be 100% satisfied!

amilleri 05-03-2014 04:59 PM

Man, you guys are right, I'm going to see if the dealership can match mine on everything with the monogram

If they can't...screw them. Go elsewhere and get the ride you want. Loyalty should be reciprocated. They are lucky to have a such a dedicated customer as yourself. I would have been gone as soon as they said they could not allocate the car I wanted. On to the next one!

Tromatic 05-03-2014 07:20 PM

F the Monogram. It's more money for the same car.

Annahra 05-03-2014 07:26 PM

I compromised on color/options the first time around and I loved the car, but now that I have exactly what I really wanted I am IN LOVE with the car :). No compromises!

PEWPEW 05-03-2014 07:34 PM

Get the monogram, the headlights alone are a butt load of money. You also get all the other dual climate whatevers, but don't settle!

ericmpena 05-03-2014 07:37 PM

Never settle. You'll always have that thought in the back of you head of you made the right choice. Go with what are 100% sure you will be satisfied with! FYI, I waited 6+ months for a manual SWP BRZ Limited to become available near me. I still had to drive an hour to pick it up, but I have 0 regret about waiting for the car I knew I wanted instead of settling.

fae7 05-03-2014 07:43 PM

Don't settle, get the monogram.
However, there is no way the dealer will match on price for a 2013 base model vs. 2014 Monogram. I've also heard that the dealerships can re-locate cars for you. Atleast I know that the Scion dealers I've talked to, were willing to do so to get the color/model I want.

amilleri 05-03-2014 07:51 PM

I drove down to the dealership today and they sold the call 15 minutes after I called on the phone, mother fuckers... I didnt expect them to match the price on the monogram vs base also, I wanted to see if they would match the dealership I work at price of the monogram, although they cant even allocate one.

So I'm currently back to square one, I need to check around the state and see if anyone else have a black on black mono :D

Also the sales person at the dealership I went to took my name and number and is going to give me a call monday morning after he sees if they have any allocated they can bring in.

Checked every dealership in the state no one has a monogram raven fr-s, I sent a contact info to one in NY about a 1hr 20min drive away hopefully they still have it.

Lavalover 05-04-2014 02:08 PM

I took delivery on a Lava Monogram a couple weeks ago. The first dealer I went to acted like they never heard of a Monogram. When I showed them the website they then said "Oh they aren't released yet." That was 2+ months ago.

The second dealer took the trouble to listen to what I wanted and did not try to jerk me around to sell something already on the lot. They took my order for a Monogram and I had to wait nearly two months. Definitely worth the wait. The headlights are perfect and the leather seats, upgraded audio, and keyless entry are all very nice. I think the Monogram is a decent value proposition.

SciOnDrifTtSlIdeR 05-04-2014 02:16 PM

i agree with getting the car you want dont settle i almost did and i would have hated it... my only regret is not getting the trd intake and exhaust

Jegan_V 05-04-2014 02:45 PM

If you have a working car and you're willing to wait for the exact car you want, its always worth the wait.

I was willing to accept a base 2014 until I heard the Monogram series came out. Once that happened even though my 2014 actually came, my dealer was absolutely willing to hold it for me should the Monogram actually not materialize(I'm in Canada and back then only had US confirmation). Once I got confirmation for Monogram orders, I took it and I don't regret waiting. I wanted to get in the car back in September of last year. I received my car in mid March.

amilleri 05-04-2014 04:03 PM

Right now I am carless as my car was sold and they took it today. I'm waiting a couple of days before I decide on whether or not to take the hot lava. I really want a monogram and definitely willing to pay the difference, I have a couple of dealerships contacting me monday so we'll see what happens.

AndyJ 05-04-2014 04:31 PM

Rent a car for a couple of weeks or a month so you don't make a decision under stress and regret it later.

LXXXV1 05-05-2014 01:25 AM

ABSOLUTELY get the car you want. You don't want to turn your head in envy every time you see a raven drive by...not only will you regret not getting the car you wanted but you'll end up slowly hating your own car.

My friend got a silver sonata bc her dealer said they didn't have a white when she was there. She was stupid and naive and bought it anyway. She told me how it hurts every time she sees a white one drive by. Now...she wants to sell it for an FRS...pretty hard for a 24 year old who just paid off her first car to take a $9K loss just to get the car she wants now, when she should've gotten the one she wanted to begin with.

Big investment. Get EXACTLY what you want. And seriously...keyless entry ftmfw. Main reason I got my monogram, because Scion doesn't offer it as an DIO and I wasn't feeling a Subaru.

amilleri 05-05-2014 03:41 PM

They brought in a grey monogram for me, and I'm excited, it looks better in person and am not disappointed about not having black. I'm taking delivery tonight and I'll post pictures later in a new thread.

Go you! I couldn't decide between whiteout and asphalt but ended up going with the whiteout and have had 0 regrets. The monogram was definitely worth the wait. The HIDs, heated seats, auto climate, and keyless entry truly are the best. Even more so for me coming from a 92 Integra GSR haha.

Annahra 05-05-2014 04:26 PM

Grey will be A LOT easier to maintain!

Unless you can afford it, I'd say don't bother with the monogram. It's at least a $3,000 difference in price and you can do a hell lot more with that in aftermarket mods. Of course this is assuming you even want to mod your car.

Edit: Just read that you got an asphault Monogram. CONGRATS!
