Feeler: Dyno Tuning Session via Jamesm @ HRI tuning

A few of us are interested in flying Jamesm of HRI tuning over to the bay area for some real time dyno tuning action. The facility is still TBD as well as the date.

Wanting to get a feel for how many people would be interested in booking time with him.

So far he has been fantastic to work with remotely and I can't wait to see what he can do in person.

@jamesm @pmccut @mkivsoopra

I'll let him chime in here about his credentials and his preferred programs to tune with.

tahdizzle 05-01-2014 06:57 PM

Which program does he tune with?

What are some of his notable tunes on the fa20 platform?

Honestly, i haven't heard one way or the other about this tuner.

EcuTek.

Check out the 'reviews' section on his FB page - https://www.facebook.com/hrituning/reviews

He's been active in the tuning section providing helpful webcasts and general help. You'll get an unlocked tune you can tweak yourself :) I'd much prefer to get a stable tune then learn enough to smooth it out from street logging.

I would be happy to host this event at our place if you guys are interested.

I don't need a tune at the moment but I would definatly come visit where ever this is for future tunes.

jamesm 05-01-2014 10:45 PM

Hopefully we can get something lined up. Need to escape all this humidity :).

Well then... you should start saving up. I'm sure he's going to be coming to the Bay Area more than once... Isn't that right @jamesm? Haha

sw20kosh 05-02-2014 02:39 AM

Jamesm will set our tunes straight! :)

Thanks Ed! I used to read nasioc daily and see your posts, so I'd definitely like to check out your facility.

We just need to figure out if anyone else is interested, or if it'll just be @sw20kosh and I.

@sw20kosh and @jamesm - what are you schedules like? I'm fine with weekday, weekend, whatever. Let's schedule this soon!

pmccut 05-06-2014 03:05 PM

+ @mkivsoopra :)

jamesm 05-06-2014 03:05 PM

I'd have to schedule a ways out... as it's on the complete other side of the country from me :). Also we'd need to get enough cars together to make it worth the trip... airfare alone is going to take a few to recoup lol. I have the flexibility to get some vaca time and head out there if we can get it all in place with probably 3 weeks to a month's notice.

tahdizzle 05-06-2014 03:07 PM

I'm in the market for a tune, probably won't pull the trigger until the fall.

sw20kosh 05-06-2014 03:10 PM

I'm in for sure as long as it isn't between jun 28th to July 10th

King Tut 05-06-2014 03:15 PM

@jamesm going big time.

What would be an idea of pricing for this so that people can be confident in signing up for a slot? The dyno tunes I have gone to have been x amount for a 3 hr dyno slot + y amount for the tuner to tune for 3 hrs.

Yeah it'd be nice to get more people on board, but I don't think there's an abundance of turbo guys out here. If it's just @sw20kosh and I, we'd pay for flight+hotel+shop dyno time, and your time of course.

You'd leave from Orlando airport? Flights look like $400-500, hotel depends on where you'd want to stay. Nothings cheap out here lol. Not sure how much dyno rental for 1-2 days would be either.

jamesm 05-06-2014 03:27 PM

i typically charge $400 for FI tunes and $300 for NA tunes, but if we get enough together we could maybe get the price down a bit. of course anyone who's already bought an e-tune from me wouldn't be paying for a separate tune, maybe just $100 for the time or something like that. i guess it would depend on how many there are in order to see how cheap i can make it and still be worth the trip.

I'm interested, but still on the fence. I'm doing a few things to try to rule out a hardware issue with my leaning out problem. Then if I go with @jamesm, I'll be upgrading injectors too.

pm me... i might have some ideas about your leaning out issue, depending on your setup.

Bump. Anyone else want to get an awesome tune in around a months time :)?

If not, let's book it @sw20kosh

James requests a mustang dyno (or i think any load based dyno ie not a dynojet). @jamesm

Yes... Gotta be a load dyno or you're better off on the street :)

pmccut 05-16-2014 03:27 AM

FFTEC, GST, Gp Motorwerke are in the peninsula area and have mustang dynos, no idea if they'd rent them out for the day. I can contact fftec and gst and see what their available/pricing is. I'd definitely like to stick to the bay area.

Mann's MAHA dyno is similar but they charge $175/hr for dyno rental, which seems absurd to me.

misooscar 06-08-2014 11:01 PM

I'm in, looking for a vortech e85 tune on 550 cc injectors, 270 l/hr pump, shooting for 350rwhp

Did you guys end up doing this already?

The Racers Line 11-28-2014 08:53 PM

I don't think this has happened yet, but we are still more then happy to host James. We have a dynocom that is calibrated and can load like a mustang.
