New Hood

1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone seen or have this CF hood yet? I was at a meet in NJ last weekend and talked to a guy that had this hood. Looks amazing in my opinion. Reminds me of the new Vipers' hood. I believe it's made by Top Secret. Anyway I was wondering if anyone who has one could post up some pics. I would love to get an idea of what it would look like on my whiteout.

tahdizzle 05-01-2014 02:57 PM

Hmmm. I don't see that hood molded for the fender flares.

Here is another shot of the hood. It seems that there is a style with the ram air vent and some without. I'm not sure what you mean by molded for the fender flares? Can you explain a bit?

kelvinchu 05-01-2014 04:29 PM

I don't think the first one is for the twins

tahdizzle 05-01-2014 04:31 PM

The twins have bulges in the hood for where the wheel wells are. The first picture does not look like its for the twins.

I'd also be more interested in the hood w/o that little non functional hood scoop.

soundman98 05-02-2014 09:51 PM

i'd be curious to see one painted a brighter body color..

gramicci101 05-02-2014 10:24 PM

The top hood is not an FR-S hood. The lines are completely wrong.

I think the bottom hood might be Varis?

Brick 05-02-2014 10:34 PM

The top is being sold as a FRS hood, the lines of the vents are screwing with your perception.
If you google top secret FRS hood the top picture comes up in multiple vendors.

merlin2111 05-02-2014 10:39 PM

Top picture has the nostril lines so i think the guy above me is correct

The vendors are using a stock photo then. Why aren't the corners cut off to fit the headlights? What about the massive hood bump? That hood looks like it goes to a 240 or a mustang or something.

The top hood is clearly NOT for a Twin... Twin's neither have crease lines like a BMW/Mustang hood nor windshield squirter nozzles on the hood and the front corners are missing the unique chamfer design of the twins...hood looks like it's more for a BMW or Mustang.

dkrou351 05-06-2014 09:47 AM

Now that you guys are saying it, I believe the top hood is for a Mustang, sorry for the mix up. I can see the headlight bevel in the hood matching a mustang. The second hood though, is the hood I am trying to get more info on. The name of the hood is Black Op's, by Top Secret. I saw it on an FR-S at a meet in NJ, but it was unpainted carbon fiber. I would love to see the hood painted in any stock color just so I can get an idea of it matching the rest of the car. Not sure about you guys but the Siebon hood styles just don't do it for me.

Found it... or likely a copy.
599.99 fiberglass
699.99 carbon.

They (fastscion.com) CLAIM it isn't hand laid and only weighs 8lbs (carbon.) I do love the fact it doesn't have shitty chicken-wire mesh.
However after spending 15min searching reviews... it seems they are a poor quaility, knockoff company running 3 sites with a BAD reputation. The hood is listed as exclusive through them and they list themselves as the manufactuer even after calling it the Top Secret hood. Sadly no version availiable without the stupid scoop in the center.

I will keep searching for another vendor and hopefully find the version without the center-scoop myself.

edit: Talked with BulletProof Automotive whome has been working with Top Secret on their golden rocketbunny'd car. There never is, never was, (or in the near future) never will be a Top Secret hood.

The company is simply using their name.

I'm fairly confident that the first picture is a OEM style CF Jeep SRT8 Hood. Looks like it could look pretty good if the one for the 86 didn't have that stupid center scoop lol

I'm gonna revive this thread, this hood seems to have disappeared. I personally think that without the intake duct this is the best looking vented hood design I've seen. It blends in with the body lines and really shows off how low the engine sits by filling that empty space. Also it doesn't have the louvered vent look which pretty much every other hood design has.

I'm seriously interested in having this custom made without the ram duct. Anyone else?

I recently bought this hood off of someone local and did just that. Filled in the the middle air duct and left the two vents on the side.

Any shots from the top showing the hood vents?

What trade is this hood?
What store do you sell?

$600?? For a hood?? Too expensive. I’d only pay $100

TachyonBomb 11-21-2017 09:19 AM

This hood is based off of a hood created by this JDM company named Auto Factory.
It's called the J-TEC Cooling Bonnet, here is a link to their site:

From the time everyone in the group paid to have the molds made to truck in front of my house with a hood was about 12-13 months.

Marsh Composites does high grade stuff but they're not a big shop and have a lot of demand.

I really want to order from them, I just can't justify the outlay of money for something that I won't get for a year.

It looks amazing on your car!

It's worth the wait. Instant gratification is fun and all, but good handmade parts take time to make.

Axis2011KR 06-13-2023 01:46 PM

I'd heard the lead times were improving FWIW but still a while, I've been talking with them about a few pieces
