Afterwards go check out the Goonies house and the nearby historic army base.

Andrew025 05-03-2014 03:03 AM

I went to the http://www.nwautox.org site to find the NWAA rules and requirements but there doesn't seem to be any listed. I've never done any autocross, so not too familiar with the rules. Do I need to bring my own helmet or anything?

They told me there will be helmets there if you don't have one. I think pants may be required as well but not sure. Aside from that not much is required except a car that isn't leaking anything. Email the person listed on motorsportreg's website. That's what I did as I was wondering about the helmet thing as well since my lady is coming and doesn't have one.

thehapaone 05-05-2014 02:32 AM

I might go to the test and tune day if I sell off my stock wheels and tires (broke like a mofo right now)

BRZPDX 05-05-2014 11:30 AM

are you guys spending the night on Friday night? What time are you planning on leaving Friday? I'm itching to go Auto-X now, even though my car might blow up lol. I may go install my oil cooler this week for this, so I can be a bit more on the safe side.

Also feel more comfortable driving out together, if my car decides to take a shit on the freeway.

Just chip in a buy me lunch or something when we autox. Maybe we can have a quick poker game or something before we all go to sleep that night.

So far Kohei is going to stay with me and my lady. There are 2 beds available (fight with Kohei over one) and a couch, plus plenty of floor space. Just bring a sleeping bag.

I'll either be leaving my house in Beaverton around 930pm Friday night if I have softball and if softball is rained out I will leave my house around 530-6pm.

Personal message me if you'd like to stay Friday night so I can give you the address and put you on the list of guests.

Thank you for staying on top of this event for the forum.

I will likely wake up early Saturday morning and drive up with a couple of other people who will attend the event. So if anyone is interested in going together the morning of the event leave a note here or send me PM. When preparing for the event, keep the following in mind:

1. The event will take place on an abandoned WWII airfield, so entering and exiting will occur only in the morning, lunch break and end of the session because we will need to cross secured Coast Guard facilities.

2. Bring a chair and refreshments.

3. Make sure you have a least 1/2 tank of gas, you will burn through a good portion of fuel.

4. Pray for sunny weather!

Looking forward to seeing you everyone who attends.

BRZPDX 05-06-2014 10:25 PM

Jason!! Super excited to see your car (oh and you too lol)!

Lets see more 86's out there, and put those mods to the test. I'm definitely putting everything to a test, starting with the drive out to Astoria!

NickFRS 05-07-2014 12:11 AM

What will the test and tune day include? Can you go balls to wall on those days? How many runs? Brie n I will come occupy some floor space n run the FRS/WRX.

It's basically timed but no one keeps track for competition. Sunday is the competition day where you'll be ranked. Saturday is basically practice for the competition Sunday.

BRZPDX 05-09-2014 01:26 AM

just got my new brake pads, changing brake fluids, installing oil cooler and a new front lip! Come at me bro.

digital_assassin 05-09-2014 01:44 AM

I wish I could come out but will be at Drift Office updating the tune for race track. Jason had nothing but good things to say about this event last year.

Do the tune the weekend after so you can join us! :) The only reason I'm going is because Jason talked up the event and I have free lodging (as do all of us as I invited everyone in the club!)

digital_assassin 05-09-2014 10:58 AM

Since I put on the new exhaust I've been throwing O2 sensor Codes so need to see what thats about and adjust the tune before driving hard.

PERRIN_Chris 05-09-2014 02:31 PM

Are they OK with people yokin it?! That would be awesome!

vroom4 05-09-2014 03:29 PM

No, because its autocross, not be jackass day. ;)

PERRIN_Chris 05-09-2014 05:12 PM

Yes that's what I meant, that would be fun!

dvsidboy 05-10-2014 02:02 PM

I am out, we launch our new brand that day and I drew the short straw to man the command center.

But I would be going to the PCA event, need to hold my place in points.

Thatruth2001 05-10-2014 04:37 PM

I am coming for you on Sunday. Ben and I have put a target on you back.

My wife and daughter let me out of my parental duties for the weekend.

Who is driving up the day of the event?

stockysnail 05-13-2014 05:45 PM

Only Kohei and I are on the registered list on motorsportreg. Where is everyone else at? Come on guys it's cheap and fun!

Andrew025 05-14-2014 02:39 AM

I don't know how they managed it, but damn near every event lands on my long week at work.
Oh well, at least I'm making it to the one in June for sure.

Decay107 05-14-2014 08:36 PM

I'll likely be down for the Saturday test and tune day. I need to figure out how to drive the car all over again, just got aligned and the front end feels totally different (bites a WHOLE lot harder) with an extra 3 deg of front camber.

Your tires won't last long with that much camber!

My experience has been that camber itself does not affect wear nearly as much as toe changes that accompany camber changes (that many "stance" folk fail to account for). I don't really expect 3.1 deg per side with 0 toe to be that bad, but we'll see.

TRUTH. I have been at 3 degrees for sometime now and nothing drastic happening.

I will say that much camber up front I think is overkill for Autocross, I am actually dialing mine back into the 2s.

BRZPDX 05-15-2014 07:27 PM

Josh, find a good place to eat around your neighborhood and I will meet you there Friday evening before we take off to Astoria.

I'd say we should go hit up some bars in Astoria on Friday night.

Theres not a lot in the way of quality bars in Astoria but there are a couple great places to hang out and drink amazing beer. Fort George Brewery is/was my standard watering hole. If they have the Czech Pilsner on draft make sure u drink several. Its amazing.

Bow Picker for lunch is a must if u like fish and chips.

If u need more info about astoria just let me know, as up til recently I called it home. I do miss it a lot.

Decay107 05-15-2014 08:07 PM

Second the Bowpicker recommendation! Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had.

Also I would recommend taking 47 to 202 to get out there, it's a way more interesting drive than sitting behind logging trucks and lifted pickups towing boats on 26.

BRZPDX 05-15-2014 08:12 PM

Damn that sounds so good, Josh we are going to this fish and chips place now.

Decay107 05-16-2014 03:03 PM

Signed up for the test and tune day :burnrubber:

Thatruth2001 05-16-2014 11:30 PM

Signed up and ready. Who is driving up tomorrow morning. if anyone is interested, I am meeting an autos friend at the Starbucks located in Salmon Creek at 6:00 AM. Adress is 14300 NE 20th Avenue.

ilpad 05-17-2014 03:47 AM

I would, but my FRS is up on jack stands tore apart atm getting the next phase of my build done this weekend. Crossing my fingers I should have it all done by sunday.

Decay107 05-17-2014 11:10 PM

Great time today and the weather in the afternoon turned out perfect! Once I finally got heat in my tires (and stopped getting lost :bonk: ) I ended up turning in a 49.3 which was quite a good improvement from my 68 second (soaking wet) first run of the day.

They were totally OK with it, there was a guy there with a 400+ HP S13 who was valiently trying to do the entire course without straitening (pretty sure he accomplished it too)

stockysnail 05-18-2014 02:06 AM

I took 308 pictures today so if anyone wants pictures of their car let me know. For those of you going tomorrow good luck. I was in it for only Saturday. On the second set before the sun decided to come out and I decided I needed to leave early I turned in a 49.428. I know I could have done better but I'm there to have fun not compete. Everyone improved even my lady I brought. I'll post one picture of each of us to here from the 308 I took soon. :)

Here's the pics of each of the BRZ and FR-S drivers except myself. My lady was driving my car so you can at least see it even though I'm not in it. ;) I have full size originals if anyone wants any. I took pics of other non-86er cars as well if interested. The guy in the grey BRZ isn't on the forums yet but I gave him the club business card. ;)

 I'm pretty sure in that picture I'm entirely lost. Damn though, with the bridge in the back that is an awesome pic. Glad something could come out of that run.

BRZPDX 05-18-2014 12:00 PM

Thanks for the pics Josh. My time was 50.112 after it started to dry up. I finally got the course then had to leave.. The morning was pretty challenging, and not working the course makes it difficult without maps.

Relearning the car all over again lolz.

Thatruth2001 05-18-2014 02:34 PM

Great time and lots of fun, but too many damn people besides the FR-S and BRZ crew. Great place to hold an autoX then PIR. Packwood in June. . . . Hopefully some folks decide to attend. Final and best time 47.843
