Coilover suggestions?

Going specifically for an extremely low drop, and don't care too much for performance. What is the best coilover setup you suggest that is the best buy for under $1000?

TheDeluxeCo 04-24-2014 03:53 AM

This is the LOW that I want!

Bag it.

SportInjected 04-24-2014 08:52 AM

Yeah, bags if you want to go that low, but for under $1k, I've seen the bc extreme drop coils go pretty low.

If you want to go extremely low without looking retarded, buy a Go-Kart.

For that low, you have no choice but to bag it. otherwise there is no method to get your car on ramps, or off ramps for that matter once the drop has been done.

dbrandt01 04-24-2014 09:57 AM

I'd say BC Racing extreme drops. I mean I'm not that low, but I could be if I wanted to. I dropped mine 2 1/4" and thats low enough where I can still get in my driveway

I'll second the guys above comment. I could barely get on an alignment rack being low like I am. It took many boards to do it.

Here if you want to see

You're going to need adjustable suspension arms to run that much camber. You won't be able to achieve that look under $1,000...unless you really cut some serious corners and basically ruin your suspension lol

You dont need bags to be this low. My last car was really low, and I had no problems with driveways, just taking them slower and the occasional scrape.

^^ Did you look at the picture of the red car with like 1/2" of ground clearance? No chance you were that low static and able to get into anything except glass smooth roads.

Not that low, but was less than 2" from the ground. The red car is pretty "lip" low, which makes his car look lower about an inch.

cdrazic93 04-24-2014 07:22 PM

If youre going anywhere near that low, be prepared to spend alot of money on bumper repair and get ready to worry about bottoming out...over a speed bump.

If you can't afford to do something properly to your car don't do it. I am suggesting your budget and desired outcome are mutually exclusive.

That red car is bagged... Front wheels couldn't turn, and I'm betting it's actually making contact with the ground.

In other words, no, you're not going to do that cheaply, ever.

I mean you could take the coils off the car....lol

I like this idea as you then have both function* and form.

lol. It took me a moment to work out what I think you meant.
I think you are saying the coils would make good table legs. I am saying the car would make a good paper weight.
This is a good scenario because you can use my paper weight on your sprung table.

We need a slammed subforum. Not that I care what happens to people's cars but it's misleading to put this in the suspension forum when the car looks to be sitting on the ground.

cdrazic93 04-25-2014 03:26 AM

oh, btw OP how often are you willing to spend several hundred bucks on tires? because with the amount of uneven wear you would get from anything close to that set up is unrealistic.

@nabb335 is the owner, his car is actually static.

Good god, it's either trailered to events or the underside is smashed to hell. I couldn't even get out of my driveway let alone my community with a car that low.

Rename this subforum to 'Handling' or the like and shift the 'I want to be hectic low' threads to exterior modifications sub forum. There's a bunch of threads in the track day forum which would be better in a 'handling' forum as well. Everyone wins, people that care about handling don't have this sub forum clogged up and people that want advice on suspension mods for appearance reasons don't have their threads full of 'you're doing it wrong' posts.
