Is It Just Me...

...or do the twins bear some resemblance to the original 240Z?

A little bit

Prog 04-23-2014 02:17 PM

I'm not really seeing any resemblance other than the fact that they're both sporty cars.

Sideways&Smiling 04-23-2014 02:17 PM

It's not just you. Check out this article: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the...-408769384/all

The 240Z is exactly what came to mind when I test drove it. Of course I don't think I've ever seen and certainly never driven the 2000GT, which is definitely more influential from the Toyota perspective.

But for me - it is the modern 240Z.

gramicci101 04-23-2014 02:21 PM

No way, the wheels are totally different.

Hot Lava 04-23-2014 02:27 PM

The only resemblance with the 240 I see is the rear fender.

TStafford 04-23-2014 02:33 PM

Well I always liked the old 240Zs too!

Turbo95eg6 04-23-2014 02:41 PM

Pretty much anyone that sees the pointy end of the side windows and/or somewhat bulging quarter panels automatically think it looks like a 86.

stugray 04-23-2014 02:53 PM

How about this instead?:

I dont mind driving a car that cost 1/6 as much as that one but looks just as good !

tahdizzle 04-23-2014 02:56 PM

The ft-86s look like a 2000gt, purposely.

I think the general lines are similar to a Jaguar F-type coupe.

Not just you:

If in 2006 when I bought my first 240Z I had known the FRS was going to be showing up, I would have held off and bought the FRS instead. It's everything the old Zs are, but with the knowledge that when you hit the ignition, the damn thing is going to start and idle guaranteed (It also has a working rear defroster and dash clock :D)

Regalo 04-27-2014 08:23 PM

Me and a couple friends were talking about this the other day. Ironically, I think the twins look more like the 240z than the 370z.

I own both, and completely agree.

litemup 05-28-2014 12:59 AM

I still get a lump in my throat whenever I see a 240Z. Mine was #9248.

And I know the 86 was styled with a nod to the 2000GT but when I sit in it, ...yeah, it's a Z.
