Obsurd!!!!

MeFryRice 04-21-2014 10:51 PM

Yup and my dumba** would be stupid enough to buy them simply because not many other people are willing to spend the money.

Burrcold 04-21-2014 11:03 PM

If anyone pays that much for an intake, they should be insta-banned from the site.

zooki 04-21-2014 11:04 PM

I'm waiting for someone to say that isn't a "true" CAI because the air filter is in the engine bay.(conveniently placed right behind the radiator by the way) anyway, too rich for my blood....

Why? Please explain to me why you should be banned for simply buying expensive parts?

Relax, it was a joke.

mashal 04-21-2014 11:49 PM

2000 intake? That's like nearly a tenth of what a used FRS costs..

Fett4Real 04-21-2014 11:52 PM

carbon fiber aint cheap...

JDMenrique 04-21-2014 11:55 PM

Buying a $2000 intake is just about one of the DUMBEST things I've ever heard.

Juvenile 04-21-2014 11:56 PM

Some Gruppe M intakes range from $1500 to $2k +

JDMenrique 04-22-2014 12:05 AM

CF or not its freaking ugly... and thats coming from a CF whore.

Panda Mao 04-22-2014 12:07 AM

that $2000 intake better offer insane weight reduction, awesome induction sound, and lastly lots and lots of wheel hp increase....

Juvenile 04-22-2014 12:08 AM

Ah well it is a Gruppe M item, I guess the extra $300 is for the name :D

protpibe 04-22-2014 02:19 AM

Take the money you would spend on both of those and use it to buy a turbo/sc?

Wait. Are you insinuating that the air BEHIND the radiator would be cooler than the ambient engine bay air temp?

nelsmar 04-22-2014 03:03 AM

If it works... I fail to see the problem if it is genially 1,600 in well spent R&D. There were a number of S2000 intakes in the 1000+$ bracket that were shown to make good horsepower gains from a car that had a similar efficiency from an OEM intake as the FRS. You gotta pay to play. Someone who is tracking a hardcore N/A car may be willing to purchase this intake to get every last little bit of power if it actually benefits.

I strongly considered saving up for one of the premium S2000 intakes my self many years ago.

Fett4Real 04-22-2014 03:29 AM

Precisely

Not everyone wants FI

Fett4Real 04-22-2014 03:37 AM

Exactly the opposite. I was just being facetious. Some people will say that a "true" CAI HAS to have the air filter outside of the engine compartment, no matter where it actually draws the air from. This intake is positioned behind the radiator and above the exhaust manifold. I wonder how efficient CF is as an insulator?

fang_gt86 04-22-2014 11:05 AM

The intake better be 24k gold-plated, diamonds in-beded, one of a kind, and gives 50WHP.

Very efficient as an insulator

The exhaust has my interest, although $2550 is still a bit much. $2000 intake is just absurd.. that's 1/2 way to a turbo setup.

xwd 04-22-2014 01:25 PM

A few different JDM companies are selling that intake... I think Revolutions has been selling it as well.

I like the single exit Ti exhaust, it looks similar to the Fujitsubo one but it's way more expensive. No idea why you would buy it versus the Tomei one though.

BRZ? 04-22-2014 01:25 PM

No thank you

1ofaKind 04-22-2014 05:57 PM

You gotta pay to play!

FR-S Matt 04-22-2014 05:59 PM

Groupbuy? Just like the TRD Supercharger groupbuy I'm waiting for?

what if those embedded diamonds broke off the intake? and flew into moving parts...yikes ><

Fett4Real 04-22-2014 07:53 PM

Seriously if you have no interest in it just save yourself the time and find another post...theyre not going to change the cost based on your whining. Like previously stated its a dry carbon intake...theres cheaper plastic intakes for sure buy on of them if you so choose. Go look at the Mugen intake for the S2000 its only $300 shy of this...for less product.

BlueDubbinTDI 04-22-2014 08:05 PM

An intake that costs more than my whole build...hmmm...

driftartist 04-22-2014 08:24 PM

I'd hate for the diamonds to be in-bedded when they should be in the car and not in bed... Now if they were embedded then I'd be down.

spdfreak 04-22-2014 09:05 PM

Shit, and I'm sitting here sweating a $50 air filter purchase...

nooo. no.

no.

It's a discussion forum. People are discussing. An intake that is 10% the cost of the vehicle is certainly worthy of discussing the price of it..

Nobody is doubting the quality of the materials, it's just that it seems to be beyond overkill for this car.

Making a comment about the cost is more useful than somebody complaining about the people complaining.

I think the only people this intake would ever apply to would be those doing a full N/A build. For the money, most would just go FI or leave it alone. And I think the built N/A motor market is extremely (as in almost nobody at the moment) small.

Fett4Real 04-22-2014 09:12 PM

Less then 10% even for the premium with 0 options...or frs with no added anything. And no kidding its for an NA build...think thats pretty well implied. Theres people out there that would buy it I assure you. Shit, people have the TRD big brake kit that costs $5000... people buy special edition 10 series with lights and a special color...if you build it they will buy it...if this gave more then 5hp over any other intake I would be surprised...more then likely its similar in #s to the TRD and other intakes...but people dont always buy things for HP but for status...and again CF doesnt exchange heat, so its functional for sure, and lightweight. And like I also said I wouldnt be surprised if PW JDM makes a copy and sells it for half the cost.
