Depo Headlights?

I saw these at the NY auto show. I tried doing a search for these depo headlights, but couldn't find anything.

I think these look amazing. Anyone know who makes them and where I can buy them? Sorry, low quality iPhone pics.

DEPO makes them, and the few bits of info I'm finding all say "coming soon."

Who is DEPO, you ask? Not a clue. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_automotive?ie=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=Depo&node=15684181]Here's[/ame] a link to their stuff on Amazon. I couldn't find a homepage, just a lot of forum references for people installing their lights on other cars.

Edit: apparently they're a Taiwanese company that makes DOT-approved headlights, often mimicking JDM styles or converting to HID.

The eyelid thing reminds me of of the BMW headlights

Looks to be similar/the same headlights that were supposedly by Valenti and were features on several of the vehicles at TAS this year - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1501435

I've been waiting to hear more information on this style of headlight myself.

DEPO is a very common name in the OEM industry for light housings. they are similar to TYC in many regards. they don't do all that much with the aftermarket though, and some of what they do, isn't credited as their product...

CircuitJerk 04-20-2014 02:02 AM

DEPO is one of the major contract manufacturers for headlights, tail lights etc.
They make the TOMS tails, for instance.
It's about time they came up with something....

OURO3OROS 04-20-2014 10:23 AM

Those look like the have LEDs inside

immaculate 04-20-2014 10:41 AM

I ran DEPO headlights on my RSX and the durability was terrible. They fit nicely and looked great at first, but within less than a year the lenses were messed up. It looked almost as if there was a layer of tape on top that was partially peeling off. Slight issues with hazing too.

As stated above, DEPO makes the TOMS taillights that seem to be holding up well for most people. Of course taillights are subject to a lot less abuse than headlights, so that may be why. I'd never buy another DEPO headlight again after my first experience.

CircuitJerk 04-20-2014 10:49 AM

Depo Headlights?

No doubt they've had issues here and there. They all do at some point. (Not just DEPOT)
I've had several sets over the years with no issue.
Sorry to see you had a bad experience.

Burrcold 04-20-2014 10:49 AM

I'll second that. DEPO does not make great aftermarket headlights. I'm sure their OEM stuff is better quality, and it seems like my TOMS are holding up well.

their aftermarket seems to be really hit-or-miss, but their oem stuff seems to be generally reliable..

DJCarbine 04-20-2014 02:04 PM

My TOMs are holding up good, and my Depo headlights on my old e36 were of good quality as well.

B-R-Z 04-20-2014 11:08 PM

I had depot headlights on my Integra GSR about 10 years ago when I wanted to go from the pre-98 style front end to 98+ front end. Fitment and everything was fine, no issues at all.

Turbo95eg6 04-21-2014 12:29 AM

Same here... They were pretty popular in the honda scene way back in the day

Diode Dynamics 04-21-2014 06:42 PM

DEPO is one of the 20 largest companies in Taiwan. They are a highly respected manufacturer and they produce OEM housings for several big name auto manufacturers. Very quality construction and design.

DEPO is OEM quality FWIW

I believe TOM'S Tail lights are manufactured by Depo.

Ammunition 04-26-2014 12:52 AM

My BC tail lights are manufactured by Depo. I've had them installed for a few months now, and throughout the winter and all of the rain I haven't had any issues with them so far.

Definitely looking forward to hearing more information about these headlights!

I was at the auto show on Saturday and I was able to ask Kenny Chan for the BRZ keys and he turn on the lights for me. I can tell you those LED's are F**** Bright ass hell.

Well they'd be hard to notice during the day for sure, but lucky for us FR-S guys, we'll still have separate turn signals in the stock location which will be visible.

I don't know much about wiring, but you must be right. I didn't think about being able to keep the stock lights in addition to those in the headlight.

Yeah. So while the BRZ guys will have it easier in the sense that these headlights would be completely plug and play, for FR-S guys, Our will probably be plug and play, and then an additional splice from the turn signal wires.
Personally, if that's the way the FR-S owners have to install these headlights, I won't even splice the turn signals. I'll leave the turn signals inside the headlights unconnected.

Yeah, it would be kind of a pain for a redundant feature.

I apologize for bumping an older thread, but since I'm still interested in these and I presume that a few others might be to, I found this short video posted up on YouTube the other night -

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNhWrwX4GTY"]Scion FRS (GT86) FR-S BRZ GT86 LED headlights - YouTube[/ame]

It still seems as though there isn't much information circulation with regards to these headlights - the site that posted this video also didn't seem to have any information on them except for the (heinous) $800 price quote for them, lol.

BRZPDX 08-06-2014 03:05 AM

Any info on these yet?

Anyone order these yet? I would pull the trigger, but I have a base 2013 fr-s which would require re-wiring or some kind of 6-8pin harness.

Aren't they designed for factory fit HID cars only? Although I'm sure I've seen an LED model on its way.

LED86 03-01-2015 05:46 AM

I have them installed and made a thread about it here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83144
