Y U no lemon law?

jack43 04-17-2014 01:42 AM

Also curious what they'll do with about 800 faulty GT3 engines.

Probably trash them or test them. Production of the new engines starts soon.

My thoughts EXACTLY! He qualifies for sure!

Ew PDK.

That's funny, I had the soaked passenger footwell problem but it's because I had a plugged drain hole. Not sure how a new car would have that happen...

Most contracts stipulate that you must use the companies own arbitration process before taking legal action (check the contract for your car, it's in the fine print). I understand why he hasn't gone full on 'fuck you' mode yet, but it should be really really soon. Glad it got posted here, with all the comparisons to Porsche it's nice to know the Toyobaru is ahead in a few areas...

porsche profits a frs for each car it sells, yet they act like cheapskates to their customers when recalls happen

alan.chalkley 04-17-2014 08:42 AM

He is not the only one.
My friend here in Australia is having worse problems with his Porsche dealers attitude to fixing his Porsche.
He has even hired a private investigator to help prove his case.

onefitz 04-17-2014 11:40 AM

"yes they even replaced the horn... the one fucking thing in the caah that does work"

It's really a two part issue isn't it?

1: German reliability is still questionable.
2: The dealership model in the USA is an antiquated cartel that needs to die as it's a big part of why dealerships suck.

Really put things into perspective. I'm a big fan of japan's engineering, car or motorcycle. Though I gotta give that guy prop for having that humourous attitude...this car ain't cheap.

chrisl 04-17-2014 12:46 PM

Wow - Porsches are usually pretty good in quality and reliability too - that guy really got a lemon. It's a shame his dealer hasn't treated him better in replacing/refunding the car.

I was thinking the same thing. I would be cussing them out! He made it into a big joke. I lol'd

It sounds to me like it started as a poorly installed wiring harness and then as the techs at the dealer have taken things apart to attempt to fix all the wiring issues they have introduced additional issues. My brand new watched it drive off the truck Cayman R had a wiring issue on the way home from the dealer the first day when I got an error for the headlight leveling not working. Took three trips to the dealer and multiple calls to Germany for the solution to be found of a wire that was grounding out only when the car was under its own weight which means not on a lift where it was most of the time they were checking it out. They did fix it, and the car was perfect after that.

This is depressing to me. I picked up a fully inspected 08 997tt back in September. 16k miles. It has been an absolute nightmare. (not as bad as the guys' in the video, but it shouldn't be happening). In my case my: clutch accumulator, clutch slave cylinder, water pump, water pump pulley, dry sump tank hairline crack, and oil lubrication tank crack at a factory weld, have/are being replaced.

White64Goat 04-18-2014 11:25 AM

I'd say that guy is lucky he didn't get run into when either the car stalled out or broke down on the interstate.

I still love Porsches...

I had a Boxster S...was my Dream car...got it used...basically paid cash for it (traded in my H-D V-Rod Screamin' Eagle Edition + $$$$)

Then I found out about the IMS Failure thing...after that, every weird sound scared me and eventually I could not enjoy it...

Traded it in eventually...

I one day would like to get a Cayman S or a 911 Turbo (like an older one)...

This video scares me...because even though I have been burnt once...and I see other people get spanked...I still love Porsches and I will one day buy another one...I wonder if this is how every dude that ever dated or dates Taylor Swift feels? You know...she's pretty but obviously a head case with relationship issues and one day she is going to write a song about how mean you were...even though she drank the last of the milk at night and you had no milk for your cereal in the morning.

sprintertrueno86 04-18-2014 03:59 PM

The whistling passenger window would drive me INSANE. I can't imagine dealing with the problems he's experiencing in a 100k+ vehicle.

And I'm here complaining about a minor dash rattle in my BRZ.
