How long do you plan to keep it?
If you don't plan to keep it indefinitely, what are the cars that you think will potentially make you want to replace your ft86, disregarding 5 seaters. Looking at the current automotive landscape there is nothing within 100k range in the next couple years that is exciting. I want to see lotus make a come back, or some manufacture step up to fill its void, that would make things interesting again.

I plan on keeping my twin indefinitely. Unless they bring out a new S2000 or the lightweight Z car or Silvia return, I can't see anything replacing my twin in the immediate future.
That said. I do like that new BMW 2 Series. |
Probably DD for 5-10 years, then replace. Too much fun to bail on quickly

im hoping to keep mine long enough at least for the loan duration...
|
I was going to keep mine until I ran it into the ground. Then the engine blew up, so I guess I succeeded? :iono: I'd like the new one to last a bit longer.
|
Don't plan on getting rid of mine unless I just run out of space to keep her!
|
Plan on keeping mine until the day I die or it dies. Whichever comes first.
|
My plan is to keep it at least 3-4 years and re-evaluate. having come from a V8, if the new Camaro based on the ATS platform lives up to the hype, or the C7 or current 1LE's starts popping up more on used market, I may switch back to Chevy. I love this car, especially after having owned a AE86 and an FC rotary; I appreciate the handling and balance. But I do miss my V8.
|
I'd like to keep it indefinitely and store it once it craps out on me. I will probably replace it in 7-10 years.

Also, I want to keep the brz as long as it takes me to save for a new STI I guess |
Long enough to pay off the negative equity and then possibly look into a new WRX/STi. Maybe by then the "I want something new" itch will be gone.
|
It makes a decent daily driver and secondary track toy to my other car. Also fun for Autocross. So, I doubt will be going anywhere for a while. I won't mod it much, and don't like high mileage cars. I'll probably remove whatever I put on it and transfer it to a newer one on trade in.

As long as i can. Planning on getting a new car in a few years in addtition to the frs
|
I usually keep the car more than 5+ years. i enjoy modding little by little lol
and hate to have mortgage again |
I shall keep the car for 15 years until my son has a license. It would be a perfect first car for him.
|
Will trade it in before winter, found out I'm a very chill driver and I'm not using this car as intended, I need a "grampa mobile"
|
Ill trade in when they give an interesting update to the twins. Ill buy the new twin.
|
I plan to keep this indefinitely.
|
No plans to replaced it... Unless they introduce new model with engine upgrade... :-)
|
My BRZ is a replacement for my prior daily driver (1994 Honda Prelude Si) which was forced into retirement last summer with 391,100 miles.
Conditions willing, I plan on keeping the BRZ as a daily driver for at least 80% of my Prelude's useful life. As an aside, I still have my 2001 AP1 S2000 (with 37,000 miles) which I will own forever. That said, next car to add to the garage will either be the next NSX (should it ever reach production) or a Nissan GT-R. |
I don't plan to get rid of it, although it will be supplanted as a daily driver at some point. I made that mistake with my MK1 MR2, should have kept it, fixed it and still have it in the garage.
At some point I might give it to one of my sons. Probably in my will! |
I have three possible "upgrades":
BMW i8, Porche Cayman variant or a yet unannounced Tesla coupe. I think all three will be under 100k in the next 3 years. To be clear I don't see those specific models as comparable or even similar to the Twins, just three cars that I am very interested in owning one day. |
I'm planning on keeping it till I can afford my Lamborghini.
So by the looks of it I'll be owning my twin forever .....:sigh: |
i plan on keeping it and teaching my kids to drive manual with it.
|
Til my lease runs out then it's back to German makes for life.
|
I've driven the Integra, Prelude, 240sx, BMW Z4, RSX-S, S2K, 300Z, Celica & Celica All-Trac, MR2 & MR2 turbo, and 3 generations of the Civic SI.
There's no doubt in my mind.. I want to eventually replace my 86 with another 86! |

Keeping it through my loan term at the least, but probably longer than that.
I see myself getting into a new DD sometime soon (new S3 sedan perhaps?) and then turning the BRZ into a full time weekend/track toy. |
Never selling... That's like $12000 loss. This car is good enough to keep forever anyways.
|
I plan on keeping it for most of it or my life.
Unless they finally release the new Rx7 in the next 2 years..... |

No other car is as much "fun to drive" , so it has a permanent home here!
|
I'll keep mine for as long as I can put off buying an old Porsche, or possibly indefinitely if I can somehow swing owning two cars simultaneously.
Fun fact, though: I think the BRZ will be the most modern car I own for the foreseeable future. If I do replace it, it will be with something that doesn't have satnav or stability control. |

Unless my fiance finds a good job right after college then maybe a used Cayman S. Or maybe I'll just pay cash for a mk1 or mk2 GTI and turn it into a show car. So many decisions. |
Yes
|
I'm with @Ganthrithor As soon as I have Porsche money...away it goes...maybe not right away cause it is fun to drive but it'll never be Porsche refined. Who knows...the plan could change if a turbo came along for this car, but that idea is becoming so far fetched, it's not worth dwelling on anymore.

Most likely until it no longer becomes financially smart to keep it running.
