Anyone tried these 3D Maxpider Kagu Floormats?
http://www.andysautosport.com/floormats/scion_fr-s.html
Looks like they are nice, but I am worrying about the fitness cuz I'v never seem a set of these floor mats in our cars. http://www.andysautosport.com/images...sc00202201.jpg http://www.andysautosport.com/images...sc00202202.jpg http://www.andysautosport.com/images...sc00202209.jpg http://www.andysautosport.com/images...01101501-a.jpg http://www.andysautosport.com/images...01101502-a.jpg http://www.andysautosport.com/images...01101509-a.jpg They are similar to the K2 Gear. I loved these floor mats but as I know they only come as RHD. http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minka...t=afcf25b34977 http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minka...t=eec9ee65df96 . |
Why don't you buy it then let everyone know about the fitment?

But it will be better if someone has already done. |
I have had them (the 3D Design ones, not K2... I wish) for several months now. They're from the same company. I'm the original person that found the K2's and tried to inquire to no avail for LHD owners. I finally just said screw it and decided to pull the trigger on the 3D Design ones I saw online because I hated my stock North American market Subaru mats.
Fit and finish is great, I just wish the dead pedal wasn't half covered. I'll write a short review and post some pics when I get time this weekend. |

I am interested in the paddle "half covered" issue(I assumed that it is the same problem as weather tech mats). It seems like these 3D design floor mats looks a lot better than weather tech and more functional than oem one. IMO the weather tech mat make this car cheap and make a "SUV style" interior. |
Essentially since it's probably made by the same company, the 3D Design mats are pretty much identical to the K2 mats except for the nice faux red border stitching.
Here's my pics below. Please excuse the slight dirt on them. This was when I first got them in and forgot to take pics before installing and using them. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j4...321_203620.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j4...321_203639.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j4...321_203019.jpg |

Since it's a rubber consistency on the top layer you can simply use a wet rag to wipe it down. I'm sure you could also hose it down if needed, just be mindful of the under layer that's a sort of grippy fabric type (to grip the stock carpet better). Seems to fair well but I'm the type that tries not to drag as much as possible inside to begin with. I'd say the first thing to wear eventually (hopefully a long, long time down the road) would be the driver's heel plate since it gets the most abuse. Hopefully this helped anyone considering buying these mats. The Weather Tech ones were a bit too "utilitarian" looking for this car, IMHO. EDIT: BTW, got mine off eBay. Can't beat free shipping. |

I love them! They look great! |
Fwiw weather tech are a 100% perfect for mat in our cars. :)

What is the peddle issue?

Got mine in today. Pleased with the fit. I'd have gone Husky XAct Contour if they were available but alas they are not.
Nice substantial feel to 'em. I don't like the normal Husky/Weathertechs as they give that tap dancing feeling. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps8q2del8f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psbb7uo6am.jpg |

I can see the edge of the mat on the DP if I lean back against my headrest. But I have to try. I am 6' and have the seat one click forward from all the way back and the backrest just ahead of halfway back I think (pretty upright). |
I have had the RHD version of the 3D mates for a few months now. I love them, just replaced the 3D Badge with a 86 themed one
Wear well, clean up easy, don't move at all when fitted. |

Are the Kagu and Aries the same mats? I noticed they both use "maxpider technology" to grip the carpet. If so, then auto anything has a good deal on them. It's $98...plus 10% off (coupon code ARIES10)...plus free shipping.
That comes to $88 for a full set shipped. eBay seems to be $130. Thoughts?: http://www.autoanything.com/floor-ma...FUVqfgod878AkA If these are the same ones, I'll probably order a set from AA. EDIT: Nevermind. I think the link I included above is for the rears only. I can't find the fronts anywhere on AA. Looks like eBay may be a better option after all. |

Very easy, pair of pliers on the knob on the back of the mat and it pops off, then pull the badge off from the front. two almost invisible holes in the front. |
how much for just the rears ?
|
Anyone successfully ordered this from Andy's? I put in my order over a month ago and they're still trying to sort out the part # with their suppliers...
|
I have weather tech mats.
In my opinion based on pics, the fitment seems to be about the same. The look and texture seems very different. If you want to save 10-20 on front mats, get the 3D. I believe I got my weather techs for 80 or 90 from a third party vendor. If you need rear mats that match front, no brainier 3D. Overall for most owners (who need just front mats) I think it's a wash and should decide based on appearance/texture preference. |

The ebay seller said they should have some come ~21st of this month, so we'll see. |
hey! those aren't bad. Nice textures. I still prefer my weathertechs more since its a bit taller on the sides so it'll contain all the gunk making it easier to dump and clean.
But I do LOVE the coverage of the rear mats but no one ever sits in the back so its kinda pointless. |

Sorry to bring up an old thread but has anyone had these for longer than 6 months? I've had weather tech in my past 2 cars (370z/335i) and got it for my mother's Nissan Juke. After about 6 months/year the weather tech really start to fold up and feel cheap.. I'm thinking it's the hot sun that makes them flex and start to form in really weird ways? I am very interested on getting these since I'm suppose to get my FRS sometime this week(if the buyer for my car does not back out).
So once again, do these flex? Because I really like the way they look, seems like a better quality over the weather tech. |
Dear fellow forum members,
I purchased my LHD ones on Amazon. They fit well. Rare ones aren't perfect, but then again no one ever wants to sit in the back. |

how's the grip overall of the Maxpider mats? is the heel area grippier?

Even I have these floor mat in my brz and I like them. The finish and look is better that weathertech IMO.

Cheaper, $72.99 shipped for fronts [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Aries-SC00211509-Black-Front-Floor/dp/B00JF86JXU/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Scion%7C91&Model=F R-S%7C21599&Year=2013%7C2013&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&newV ehicle=1&s=automotive&vehicleId=1&vehicleType=auto motive"]http://www.amazon.com/Aries-SC00211509-Black-Front-Floor/dp/B00JF86JXU/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Scion%7C91&Model=F R-S%7C21599&Year=2013%7C2013&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&newV ehicle=1&s=automotive&vehicleId=1&vehicleType=auto motive[/ame] Is there any difference between the 3D MAXpider and the Aries 3D mats or do they both come out of the same Chinese factory? |
My review of these mats. Just got mine... Fits just fine. Looks great. I like the look better than the pattern on the weather tech mats.
http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/IMG_3280.JPG I had an issue though with my shoe/foot placement and these mats. The lip at the edges of the mat, while nice looking, pushed my foot over to the left just enough to make it uncomfortable on my knee when I'm on the gas (normally the edge of my heel is up against the edge of the footwell). So, took a blade to the edge and sliced off that damn edge... http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/IMG_3282.JPG Much much better now... We don't have snow where I'm at and no drinks allowed in the car so no need for major liquid puddling/spillage protection from that raised edge. http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/IMG_3281.JPG Next thing I might do is slice the part covering the dead pedal. I can see the half covered dead pedal with my seat position and it kinda bugs me. But I'll wait and see if I get used to it and it stops bugging me. http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/IMG_3283.JPG |
I'll be installing mine this weekend. Received em this week, looks to be in perfect condition even though Amazon marked it as "Used - Good"
The box was beat to hell with holes all over it, but the mats themselves were untouched. $69 :D :D :D @Pointmutation I wouldn't remove the bit over the dead pedal, I feel like a lot of dirt from your foot will just drip down and pool under the mat (when your foot is wet anyway). Also, any ideas on removing the 3D emblem? I noticed they're riveted on. I wanna remove them somehow and then cover the leftover holes with a Subaru emblem (like the ones sold for the weather tech mats) or something. |
Quote:
No need to put anything back in it's place to cover the holes. You'll see when you remove them. |
Quote:
But I took some pliers to the rivets on the back and just ripped them off. The holes left behind are tiny and probably wont be noticable. Will post pics tomorrow once I install em. |
My 6 month review of the mats...
So far these mats are doing their job and protecting the car from the elements (which, where I live, is only rain, dirt, and sand. Lol). Now that I've had these mats for 6 months now, here are some wear and tear shots. This car is my DDer. http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/crap1/IMG_3815.JPG http://www.pointmutation.com/crap/crap1/IMG_3816.JPG Basically the rubber contours are being flattened by my heels with more flattening from the heel of my clutch foot. And it looks like my heel placement for the gas pedal is causing the corner of the extra rubber layer to peel up. Anyway, I'll be adding a metal heel plate on top of the map to remedy this wearing down situation of the floor mat. |
