That kit looks nice. Great alternative to the JDM TRD package.

brokedrifter 04-10-2014 10:13 PM

Trd kit looks good
But Quad tip is too much and not sure what kind of yellow the paint is

I love boost!!!!!!

Tt3Sheppard 04-10-2014 10:16 PM

Tail lamps look like they are black inside

Burrcold 04-10-2014 10:18 PM

Meh, it'll be appealing to the few that have been wanting yellow as an option.

Scions pictures of the rear lights always look darker.

Struckbylitenin 04-10-2014 10:31 PM

Ill just spend the ~$200 for the springs and put them on my 10 series. The rest is just "meh"

Fett4Real 04-10-2014 10:32 PM

Wonder what the cost will be...probably 30k ish?

asianbob 04-10-2014 10:34 PM

I want the fender garnish

jblmr2 04-10-2014 10:36 PM

Here we go again, another special with no performance upgrades!

I am glad they did yellow, But I personally don't care for the kit

CokeSlap 04-10-2014 10:46 PM

I hope this makes getting the quad tip exhaust cheaper for us normies.

Quentin 04-10-2014 10:49 PM

Interesting! I spy a TRD rear spoiler. I might have to buy this. Black Prodrive GT1s and done.

Pegasus 04-10-2014 10:49 PM

I just bought a Monogram, I would be a little upset if I didn't hate the color yellow with everything in my soul. Anything short of a supercar that is yellow turns into the ugliest car within 50 miles after 5 years old. Old dodge neon, VW beetle, Ford mustang. Anything that is 5+ years old and not an Italian supercar is uugggglllyyyy. God I hate yellow.

Probably not if these are prepared at the "TRD Factory".

Luis_GT 04-10-2014 10:50 PM

I want that fender garnish

Fett4Real 04-10-2014 10:56 PM

Shame it still has OEM FR-S wheels

headlikeahole 04-10-2014 10:57 PM

Color is ugly, body kit is ugly, quad tip is ugly and they insist on selling us those ugly wheels...

Keep up the good work.

husker741 04-10-2014 10:58 PM

Man their marketing department is so fucking smart.

(Summer 2012)

-Here everyone, buy the brand new RWD sport car from Toyota!

(One year later)

-Sell that regular, old FR-S and buy the 10 Series that is exclusive and has genuine JDM parts!

(6 months later)

-Fuck your 10 Series, we came out with a better alternative with the same options and more, in every color already available called the Monogram Series!

(2 months later)

-That Monogram Series is old news and isn't special, so here, take this special edition yellow color, with a few TRD add ons, with literally everything you get on the Monogram! Are you pissed yet? Well if you aren't, you probably will be when we release the 2015 that has a turbo (lol jk, we don't want a fucking turbo)

*With all of these, you get great appearance upgrades for a lot more money, but no one wants more power, so you don't get any!!! Isn't it fucking great???

FyeaFRS 04-10-2014 11:00 PM

I think Toyota should have spent their time actually resolving the issues with the 2013/2014 before they start releasing all these lame variations. Fuel pumps, transmissions, seals, etc. I'm glad Subaru told them to go pound sand when they wanted to do a soft top convertible and a four-door. I also like how they put out numbered editions after the car had been out for over a year. Where's my fancy number plate?

They should at least made them a different finish...black satin would have been nice....

Burrcold 04-10-2014 11:01 PM

Anyone else notice the shark fin? Looks like this is going to be a '15 model year then.

Quentin 04-10-2014 11:03 PM

I forgot how Scion put a gun to your head forcing you to buy the car.

Only naive people could expect power upgrades on a BRAND NEW ENGINE on the 3rd model year. Be realistic, people.

Did anyone say they are forcing us? It's just aggravating, albeit very intelligent on their part, to keep releasing all these special editions that make the "regular" ones slightly lose their "cool" factor.

Also, many platforms receive yearly performance bumps or power bumps after at least a couple years.

Hyundai did it with the Genesis...

sprintertrueno86 04-10-2014 11:11 PM

Pffft..

I'd wait for the Scion FRS 10 Series RS 1.5 Monogram instead.

Pontiac did it with the GTO in the second year. The Corvette just got a new transmission in it's second year.

The crying in here sure makes it sound like people were forced. It is an aero kit and a special color. It costs practically nothing to offer this as a limited run. An engine revision after 2 years would cost a lot more.

It isn't about making yours less cool. Mod it to be unique to you if that is your concern. Or, buy a car you enjoy rather than how cool it is. Maybe some of us that have been waiting for a color, or a package, or the time to be right (my daughter is about to go front facing in her car seat) should get a chance to be cool. They are only making 1500. They only sell 30k twins a year in the US. It isn't like you are going to see 3 on your street like I do with our Rav4.

Subaru doesn't revise engines that often. We'll probably see some additional engine on the refresh. Is it not ironic that you are complaining about your car being less cool due to these packages when your car would be far less cool if they rolled out a 280hp FR-S? You'd want the new turbo one and the value of the one you own would tank! That would legitimately cost you money. As long as the engine stays the same, your car will retain value better.

DarkSunrise 04-10-2014 11:17 PM

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think it looks great, color and all.

I think you should re-read the comments. I don't see anyone crying? I was simply saying how genius the Toyota marketing is. I mod my car to make it my own. However, I would also enjoy having the headlights and a few other things. And don't say to get Winjets, cuz I don't want replicas. You're missing my point completely.

That was with the mid cycle refresh, wasn't it? (2013 model... 09-12 were all the old engine, IIRC)

GTO was only a new model for the US. It had the old engine in Australia as a Holden well before hitting our shores.

zigzagz94 04-10-2014 11:21 PM

DAFUQ? Does that sh!t say the xB shoots Scion Logo holograms on the ground R2D2 style....

retrosmiths 04-10-2014 11:25 PM

As a previous owner of a tC Release Series (RS) 7.0, I would never buy another one. It was hard to find (aesthetic) mods that come in that color, and if you can't find one you have to buy it unpainted and have a body shop do it for you, or settle for black (which is probably the only color that matches the yellow without looking tacky).

The +$3,000 to the price with no real power gains is just NOT worth it.

Lastly, their "unique" RS paint color is baloney. The red tC RS 8.0 was re-released as just a regular tC a year after. The tC RS 7.0's yellow paint is/was an available option for the Prius (outside the US) and the FJ Cruiser, and now, this FR-S RS 1.0 seems to share that same yellow paint, too.

FiRStsc10n 04-10-2014 11:32 PM

It looks like the wheels aren't machine finished but almost matte. Let's see it gets all the goodies a monogram gets, with a TRD body kit + suspension + quad exhaust. Probably looking at $32000+

On a completely different note, I don't get how they had the 10 Series Scion xB (Silver Ignition blah blah) and then go and release a xB RS 10.0. Confusing.

There are quite a few moaning posts about it just being looks... which is all the release series has ever been. Your's was pretty sarcastic, too.

Look at it this way. You've been enjoying a RWD sports car for two years while I've been rocking a Prius for two years. I might have LED headlights, but I've still been driving a Prius that stickers for $32k. A 134hp FWD mommy mobile that cost $32k. (Having kids makes you do crazy things...). Not having the HIDs on the FR-S was an attempt at keeping the cost down. It isn't like they rolled the HIDs out as standard on all '15 models at no cost. This car will surely push $29k or more.

Tea86 04-10-2014 11:40 PM

the wait begins for the fr-s rs monogram...
