Any suggestions on type of leather jacket to compliment my car and style?

Anyone mod their car to play a theme song when the Driver door is opened ?

I believe these young men are stylishly attired for a jaunt in a Japanese vehicle. Note the 5 point harnesses and helmets and protective eyewear. Safety first!

Stylish leather jackets are hard to pull off by modern standards unless you're a really, really pretty bro and subscribe to Esquire or GQ.

Those Toyota jackets aren't too bad... But not my style.
I'll wait for the black leather w/ red stitching and Alcantara inserts :-) |

I'd like a satin jacket (or whatever they're actually called if they have a different name) to wear for cruises.
|
I usually go shirtless to meets/cruises.
Less weight. |

Just get a scorpion jacket and act like you're autistic. You'll be a big hit at the car meets. |

I had a very warm, cozy Italian sweater that I always wore when I drove my Fiat. It had a full length zip, a mock turtleneck and was a *beautiful* mustard yellow color. It was just SO comfy. I wanted to believe that it was wool, but probably wasn't. It was very soft, and nothing that I buy in Italy has tags on it.
My wife made me stop wearing it. She says the color is Godawful. It's all about being comfortable. And if you think you look badass, then that's all that matters. :-) |
Nobody buy this one, I've got dibs:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Sewn-Sa...item461adaf4a4 e: and if you're a small person, here is a perfect one if you like "ironic" stuff. e2: unrelated but the picture on this ad cracks me up. |
This was probably one of the best threads I have read on this forum. Seeing everyone's suggestions had be laughing so hard.

I've had this jacket for 4 years, always wear it driving.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/attac...1&d=1271166064 Never owned a BMW, but strangers/gear-heads always ask "So which ///M do you drive?" I just give them the above look. Very snug/comfortable and warm, while resisting wind. |

How much are you looking to spend? Personally, I love outerwear and don't mind spending the dough on some good pieces.
I prefer browns and black and a stand up collar. For driving, I'd avoid a jacket with a belted waist. I don't know what kind of "look" you're going for either. If you really want a classic type of jacket, you could emulate classic motorcycle looks. Belstaff or Barbour for a longer, softish waxed cotton jacket (Belstaff runs a bit slimmer and is a bit more expensive). The Barbour International would be the equivalent to the Belstaff Roadmaster, albeit baggier and IMO shorter. Both are belted at the waist. I used to own both, but sold them. You could also go for a leather motorcycle looking jacket. Vanson makes great leather pieces though some of them are pretty heavy. Lookswise, I've been trying to find the Maison Martin Margiela 5-zip in Black Calfskin, but it sells out super fast each season it's out. It'll cost you a couple thousand if you can find it though (http://www.styleforum.net/t/284359/m...p-moto-leather). Traditional, rugged look: Steve McQueen showing how cool a Barbour International jacket can be: http://adaugeoadvertising.files.word...re_77-jpg.jpeg Belstaff jackets are a bit more fashion-oriented these days after the British brand was retooled into an Italian fashion brand: http://cdni.condenast.co.uk/642x390/..._b_642x390.jpg Motorcycle Leathers, or such inspired: My personal favorite "fashion" jacket, the thin Maison Martin Margiela "5-Zip": https://cache.mrporter.com/images/pr...2_mrp_in_l.jpg Schott's super famous Perfecto, seen here in an unusual brown. Worn by the Terminator, Marlon Brando, punk stars from every era, and easily customizable... http://www.contextclothing.com/image...al1%20copy.jpg An example of a "modded" Perfecto jacket, worn by Brando: http://www.filmjackets.com/FILM_JACK...ildOne-013.jpg Military, or such inspired: Buzz Rickson's makes a special black MA-1 flight (inspired all the 'bomber' jackets) jacket 'reproduction' (black was never made). MA-1's all look fairly similar and some vintage ones come embroidered or have patches on them. They're good for driving because they were designed for aviation use. The cockpits are very cramped, so if a pilot can stay comfortable in his MA-1, you'd be fine too. They're cut shorter for comfort while seated, and cuffs are elasticized so it doesn't get in the way of operating toggles and what not. http://s23.postimg.org/km98fm7mz/BRXWG02.jpg Another great flight jacket is the classic Type A-2 (flight jacket). There are so many variations out there... http://image.space.rakuten.co.jp/lg0...9e9zik8zj.jpeg My favorite Type A-2 is one with a "blood chit" on the back. Major historical significance, you can Google it yourself. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...leXfKDLRf5mf6Q Going to edit this post to have more detail. |
A zip hoodie or a light jacket with a small manufacturer logo or something is ideal. I was looking at the Perrin hoodie but decided it was a bit much for me.
I have a lightweight Puma zip hoodie that's perfect for driving days. |
If you can get one in the right size, a cycling jacket looks pretty cool
