Door Unlock Issue

Recently every time I go to unlock the car with the door handle, it goes through an unusually long beeping sequence that is similar to the hazards being on. It's not the usual double beep that takes place when unlocking. Does anyone have any insight on this? I can't find a solution anywhere. I've attached a video demonstrating the problem.

Anyone?

Target70 04-08-2014 04:23 PM

never heard of it, maybe try unhooking the battery to clear any electronic issue?

raptor87 04-13-2014 03:27 PM

woah thats weird

extrashaky 04-13-2014 06:49 PM

Does it happen on both doors, or just on the driver's side?

TONYpepperon1 04-26-2014 06:11 PM

Tried the battery. No luck... it happens on both sides but not every time. It's temperamental lol

Figure it out? New key fob?

TONYpepperon1 04-27-2014 04:44 PM

I will have to check the spare. I'll report back after I give it a couple of days.

Do your windows retract slightly when you open the door? It may be the car telling you to reset your auto window retract if they got stuck for some reason. When did the car start doing this and for how long? Most likely it's the car telling you something is wrong with it and the first thing that comes to my head is the Window Auto-Retract mechanism isn't working.

The instructions on how to reset the Auto-Window retract when opening is in your user manual.

Yea the windows are retracting so i dont think its that. Its been happening for a couple months now. Sometimes it hapoens sometimes it doesnt. Very strange.

That's one weird problem. Sounds like it's time to go to the dealer for some warranty work.

You didn't happen to leave your spare fob in your car did you ?

That is odd. If your sitting inside the car and the car is off and open the door to get out does do the same thing? Now if it does, next question is if it does it when you hit the fob to unlock vs unlocking the door manually from the switch? Final question does it act this way of you have your window down and then lock it and open it from the outside?

It may fix it if you try re setting your windows position, I forget the steps to do this. It's something like holding down the window button and turning the key to power on. It is listed in the manual.

Also double check the window trim all around where the window meets the rubber incase something is preventing the window from reaching the full up position.

I have had a similar issue. I made a thread on it. See below for my original post. I never got any help on it.

I'm having trouble with the drivers door lock on my 2013 BRZ limited.
Here are the symptoms
When using the keyless entry on the drivers door: The car double beeps five times, unlocks the passenger door but doesn't unlock the drivers door.
When using the keyless entry on the passenger door: The passenger door unlocks but the drivers door doesn't. The car still does the double five beep.
When using the keyfob to lock/unlock the car: Only the passenger door locks/unlocks.
When using the door lock/unlock button on the inside door trim: Only the passenger door locks/unlocks.
The drivers door only locks using the manual lock on the door trim or the key hole and unlocks when doing the same.

I have done the 12v reset. Unhooking the battery. No change. I have tried both keyfobs with new batteries. I have checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dash.

ran a random google search, seems like other toyota folks have run into this as well. couldn't find a solid answer, but some say it was due to a lock mechanism on one of the doors or trunk failing/sticking/some other issue when trying to lock/unlock.

nobody has taken the car to the dealer for further inquiry? curious about solution.
