I did get to test drive it which was amazing. Pulls nice, its stable and well balanced... Love the interior, everything is within reach. I cant wait until they can actually sell me the car LOL...

CSSM 05-15-2012 04:51 AM

Very cool! Congratulations! That is an interesting dealership..

Metabrz 05-15-2012 05:02 AM

Congratulations. May I ask why if they have the car in stock which you ordered the cant / won't let you take it away?

TuxedoCartman 05-15-2012 05:10 AM

Holy hell-monkeys that's hot!!! :eyebulge:

My days of owning (and washing) black cars are behind me, but doesn't stop them from being drop-dead sexy though!

I believe its because the car doesn't go on sale until June 1st. So from what im told it will just sit in their showroom (with doors locked, lol) looking pretty until then.

There's a First-86 at my local dealership. Everyone is allowed to touch and sit in the car.

That's horrible for the person that car belongs to...

The black looks fantastic though, thanks for the pics its nice to have some reassurance on my decision to get black (seems like no love for black at all on the forum!)

Fortunately a buddy of mine works there and assured my no one other than staff will be able to get into the car.

In the picture it is not. It is in another showroom still in Santa Monica. They left it there for me to take it for a spin.

djdnz 05-15-2012 02:37 PM

I have a feeling your idea of locked doors is a bit different than theirs. A car in the show room to entice more buyers is likely not going to stay locked when they want to check out the interior.

ngabdala 05-15-2012 02:46 PM

It's his fault. He didn't show up for days and on Sat. he finally shows up with his wife/girlfriend and leaves the dealership with her to discuss their budget. It is still there today as I went in to get my FR-S deposit because I'm keeping my BRZ order

Man I don't know how you can stand next to her, then sit in her, and then walk away...............:brokenheart:

Can you answer me this, what are your first impressions of the car? Did you go home and think about the car after you saw it? Anything surprise you in person?

The wait till June 1st is not cool. Is there any chance they could let it go may 28ish? Or are they sticking to June 1st? I don't understand how a dealer could have the car in stock, and not let it go. :(

Funny... Me and my girl got into the car, went around SaMo for a test drive and instantly fell in love... Its response is amazing, really makes you feel one with the car. You get good feedback from the road and the suspension tuning isnt harsh, its just right. We came back to the show room, and didnt want to get out of the car hahaha.

The only thing that i found interesting, was the Valet Button located inside the trunk lol... This button's function disables the keyless entry to the trunk as well as entry to the trunk via the latch inside the car. The only way in to the trunk is via a key.... but if you have noticed there is no key hole... well apparently there is haha, its just facing downward next to the handle of the trunk. Bit of an awkward placement but i can see its function if you're smuggling in bicycles :) hahahaha

Trust me i dont understand why either, but i am pretty sure its also a Scion Corporate order and not so much the dealer that doesnt want to sell it. But its cool, ill just shop around for wheels to slap on in the mean time:thumbup:

Torture! Just remember what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. When you do get the car, it will be even sweeter....

Congrats though, the black is very nice..

I agree black is king. I just can't deal with the swirls and the car not looking clean unless you wax it.

I probably saved myself $1,000 in wax jobs by switching to a silver car.

But at night black is king. And the pics look so sexy.

kwood9000 05-15-2012 06:33 PM

Congrats...that black looks great!

I wrestled with the decision to get black for a long time. I finally chose the Ultramarine. Then they announced the red trim WAS coming to Canada (originally they all told us it was all black inside). So, not wanting to have a "Superman motif" I changed to black. I will do paint sealant at the dealership, but I'll still have to wash/wax it often.

Damn it looks good!

Jay Grey 05-15-2012 07:14 PM

Congrats!!! Looks nice, but personally I cant do another black car...

civicdrivr 05-15-2012 08:47 PM

Congrats! The car looks great in black, but I just couldnt get another black car. Im anal when it comes to keeping the paint fresh, and black is just frustrating.

Mr. Mcoupe 05-15-2012 11:00 PM

Woah. Black is beautiful.

What does the dealer 'paint protection' consist of? I would either want a good detail or at least a good claybaring before any seal?

Not trying to jack the thread, but since it came up.

I work at a dealership that sells Sym-tech products, and the regular paint protection does work quite well. But, I would still wax often.
Their new product "Sharkskin" is apparently very much improved over their normal stuff. It's still new, and our dealership HASN'T signed up for it yet. I'm talking with the rep to see if my black FR-S can be a tester.

I'm curious if anyone else has experience with this, or this type, of product.

http://sym-tech.ca/programs-products/sharkskin/

If I do it, I'll do a write up in the Cosmetic/maintenance section.

My black FR-S is currently "at sea". I wonder if it's hit Hawaii yet?
