Carbonsport Edanvale TRD Kits and TRD Rear Trunk Spoiler
1 Attachment(s)
Called Carbonsport in Edanvale today, they have the rear boot spoiler (BRZ) for R1850, and the full TRD Kit for R7800.
He said that he does not spray and fit them, so this would need to be done at a panel beater? Has anyone dealt with Carbonsport? and could recommend a reputable place to get this sprayed and fitted? Or any other alternative? Not too interested in the full kit, but really hungry for that rear trunk spoiler:sigh: |
I know of two that were installed and no problems. Just make sure whoever fits it can match the D4S paint properly  Also rather stick it on than bolt it on maybe...
Guys - who else can assist with valuable advice and not my hearsay? |
Has anyone ordered the TRD kit from them?
|
I spoke to them today. Just to be clear that this kit is not original TRD equipment (that was unclear to me). The panel beaters suggested that it should come with its own clips/bolts/screws or use double sided tape (which it doesn't) so this means pop rivets or nuts and bolts or whatever makes you happy.
|
Are you referring to the spoiler in the photo? That's not TRD anyway and I can confirm that it doesn't come with any fitment hardware - you need to stick it on with 3M VHB tape or window bond(very permanent).
The spoiler is very decent quality and made from lightweight FRP, it shouldn't cost more than around R1000 to paint |
No I am referring to the front, rear and side spoilers of the TRD kit not the boot spoiler.
|
Oh, okay. So which spoiler is it that you're looking for? Pic?
|
The standard TRD kit which you get from the Toyota dealers is what I am looking for but I was just under the impression that Carbon sports had OEM stuff but it is not.
|
Ah okay, on the same page now.
I've only seen the one in your pic at Carbon Sports, but at those prices it was never going to be genuine. |
Does anyone know where RMS got the black boot lip they have on their white 86 from. You can see it on their homepage (still under construction), but also in the article by Delicious tuning on the RMS car. Its a thin black boot lip, similar to the BMW one.
Thanks... |

PM me if you want more info. |
Thanks Guys, RMS sent me a mail directly. It is a Seibon boot lip, but costs just over 10 grand landed. They do however say they have a cheaper carbon fibre alternative lip to that. Just waiting for them to send me some pics....

I bought a front bumper lip, and need to have it put on now. It doesn't seem like too tough a job, but ....... I don't have the tools. Any one know of a good place to have it put on in JHB. I'm leaving it black, so it is just drilling the holes, and fitting. :search: |
Speak to Barry at Greentone Autobody. They are simply brilliant.
|
Took me a whole weekend to put a similar front lip on. Would've gone a lot quicker with a trolley jack and an extra pair of hands to hold it in place.
|
Thanks. I actually managed to get some guys to help me yesterday. With the right tools, and 6 hands, it took an hour to fit.

:) Here we go.

Very nice! :)
I like the wheels too. I keep going back and forth whether I want them painted.:iono: |
Thanks Freedom. The wheels were the first thing I had done on the car. They change the whole look. I had mine done in a Satin Black, which is in between a shiny and a matt black. PM me if you want details on who did them.
|
Looks good BRY100.
Could i suggest painting the bit below the fog black to join the bottom bit. Perhaps put some black insulation tape there to check out how it will look first. |
Thanks Die$el. Am looking at a few options. The other idea is blacking out the lower valance section in the middle, between the two 'points' that stick out. Have seen a few pics on the USA threads, and it looks nice. The main thing with modding is to keep it tasteful.

Went to CarbonSport this weekend,
Tried the following two Trunk spoilers on, 1. BRZ trunk Spoiler - R2k Attachment 110500 Attachment 110501 2. Duck Fin Spoiler - R2k Attachment 110502 Attachment 110503 Did not like the fit on the car, does not sit flush, and it will have a gap after fitting, Jimmy says you can close the gap with Silicone, lol Not willing to do that... 3. Toyota TRD Spoiler from Toyota Dealership: R2.9k Toyota had a special on TRD parts in the month of April 2015 which ended in the first week of May 2015. Their TRD Trunk spoiler sold for R1617. Due to their poor marketing on parts, I did not know about it, If I did - would have bought one without even thinking, Managed to source a TRD Rear Trunk Spoiler today from Toyota Pretoria North, After allot of negotiation, got the price down to R2500 before VAT and ended up paying around R2900 after VAT. If you really have time to look, you can find TRD Spoilers from Toyota dealerships for approx R3200, They advertise it for R4800 on the Toyota website - Not sure if people actually buy it at that price. Comes with a Toyota Parts warranty and primered - Ready to paint. Just need to find a decent place to spray + fit it and get an exact color match. Attachment 110504 |

Thanks Ryan,
@sav would have went for the 'Dark Wing Duck' if it fitted decently.(with no Gaps) - Actually looks nice (Agressive) when paired with an aggressive wheel set up. Attachment 110507 Attachment 110508 Ended up purchasing the TRD Spoiler from Toyota. |
Cool stuff. Taking it to Barry for painting and fitment?

With regards to paint protection, I got Xpel done by SupaWrap. I got the whole bonnet, side mirrors, bumper and lights done for around 8k I think - will need to confirm. Had to take it back once for bubbles in one or two spots but they sorted it out no problem. The guy did the entire job by hand - no pre-cut templates were available for me car at the time and he did a VERY impressive job. You can hardly see it unless you are looking for it. After numerous trackdays the front of my car is still 99% chip free - only one or two managed to pierce the protection. |
Pity you not in the circle, I sent up a few spoilers for R1900 to JHB yesterday.
|
There are even cheaper options.
This is what I've got on my car - great fit and finish, and I'm 100% happy with it :) http://www.jonmotoring.com/brz-frs-t...trunk-spoiler/ |

Also, it may not be the cheapest but do the full bonnet and fenders else it looks crap. |

What spoilers did you send up to JHB ? Do you have any pics. Thanks |
