Used car my G/F, RAV4 or Honda Fit

So her 2004 ford focus got totaled by some idiot who did a hit and run. Good news we are getting 4700$ for it when we only paid 4,000$ almost 4 years ago.

I think I have narrowed down my choices. She needs a safe reliable car that can hold 4 ppl, decent cargo, as good gas milage

There is a really clean Toyota 2004 Rav4 2004 with 72,000 Miles. They want a little more then its worth. I have no idea how it drives yet, but I am sure I can get them to come down on price. CR has reliability as excellent on these cars.

The other choice I am eyeing is a 2008 Honda Fit Sport Manual 5 SP with 56,000 miles. Pictures show it in really good shape. CR also shows excellent reliability. They want 10K but that's a bit high. I should be able to get it for 8200-8500 I think.

I am leaning towards the Fit. Good cargo space as its a hatch, manaul has decent acceleration for a 100HP car and its gets 35MPG on the highway. Also its 5 years newer then the rav4

Both cars have a clean carfax

I'd get the Fit, personally, but I don't like SUVs very much (unless you actually need one, which it sounds like you don't).

If you're looking at the Fit you might want to check out the Yaris also if you can find one.

Get the Fit, it's a better car.

Thanks. Going to look at the fit today

Had a 2009 Fit that got totalled by hail or I'd still be driving it. Probably the best car I've ever owned. Practical, yet still very fun to drive. Btw, mine was a 5 speed manual.

Good news we ended up getting rhe car. Got the payment we wanted with a good rate. Paid a bit more but it was not worth loosing the car over a couple bucks a month. Paid 9500$ for the car.

I've owned two Fits, they are great all around cars. More useful space inside than any other hatchback I've seen (Tardis Like "it's bigger on the inside").

The Fit is Go!!

I know! These little cars have a lot of room. 4 people can fit comfortably with a decent trunk and the car still gets 35-38MPG on the highway. Pays to do your research.

You can fit a llama in a Fit.

Fit.

I had a Yaris - the hatch area is tiny so don't expect anywhere near the practicality of the Fit (1st gen looks better to me).

If gas mileage is the priority though, the Fit does have shorter gearing compared to the Yaris (and the Yaris seems to be a smaller car)

You only need a RAV4 if you deal with severe winters (and even then, a car like the Fit should be enough unless if you're in the Yukon or Alaska or something)

I'm glad you went for the Fit it's a great car, I have one and I love it as much as the BRZ. ok... no maybe not as much , but I drive it daily and it's nice that it can Fit alot of things, and be fuel efficient.

What color is yours? I have the dark grey

I guess It looks like the alabaster silver metallic. The shift are super short, but I am spoiled by the twins. The shifter feels very rubbery. I like the steering, and the car zips along pretty nicely for only 100HP engine.

Here was mine. As much as I love my FR-S, I still miss this car from time to time.

Again, I can recommend one of these to anyone without reservation.

Yours came with a VTEC DOHC Sticker!? hahahaha that's funny! I was like wait a sec I don't remember mine having that or VTEC XD

jeffchap 04-06-2014 05:40 AM

No, I bought the sticker on ebay and put it on myself. And it actually says "SOHC".

jflogerzi 04-06-2014 01:37 PM

When they are both clean, I will get a few pictures of the FR-S next to the new addition :)
