T1R exhaust for the FRS/BRZ !

Hi Guys,

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Ben and I am from A&J Racing. We have been specializing Japanese import since 1991. We would like to provide you our best service and products for your needs :)

We will be carry and offer all types of parts such as JDM Toyota, JDM Subaru, STi Japan, ALEX Motorsports, T1R (Type One Racing), HKS, Greddy, Tein, D1 Spec & more.

Today I would like to introduce our flagship brand T1R. We have been offering T1R exhausts for the worldwide market for Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru. The name of the T1R exhaust are known to be power maker with top notch quality. Here are some pictures of the T1R exhausts for other applications.

We have plans to make single or dual cat-back exhaust for the FRS/BRZ and we would like to hear from you and see which layout you like and we will take care of the rest  Just an additional note, we will be offering secondary cat-delete pipe & equal length header down the road.

From our expierences, single exhaust is lighter and makes more power, at the same time, the exhaust is louder. Dual exhaust fits perfect with the exhaust cut out on the bumper and it will not makes as much power, a bit heavier but quieter.

Please give us your opinion here !

Regards,

Ben
A&J Racing

Welcome! A sound clip/vid of the system would be great if you have one. Thanks.

dabocx 05-14-2012 06:24 PM

Would love to see dual!

mattles 05-14-2012 06:29 PM

Id like to vote for single, driver side exit at a bit of an angle.

Round straight cut tip w/ 4'' in outer diameter sounds good to me.

Similar looks to the Greddy RS but similar sound level to the Greddy SP would be astounding.

Lose the burnt tips!!!

I would LOVE to see a single or dual dolphin tip like what you offered for the S2000. I actually have personally owned two of your S2000 exhaust systems and would seriously be swayed by a dolphin tip setup.

any videos in car not on a dyno? not to be picky but I like to hear real world circumstances if at all possible to judge. 2nd one sound BA though from what i can tell :)

Subaruwrxfan 05-14-2012 08:09 PM

With equal length headers, the BRZ boxer is gonna sound a lot different than the STI with unequal length headers. I vote for dual tip.

Calum 05-14-2012 08:22 PM

I vote for single tip, thanks!

chate 05-14-2012 08:36 PM

Dual tip will require cutting of the rear diffuser unless the outlets are tiny tiny :P But i'd still vote dual

ESBjiujitsu 05-14-2012 08:57 PM

i am hoping that rear panel just pops right off. no need for it :) open that back end up. :) :D

djliquidsteele 05-14-2012 09:04 PM

If the FR-S version of this exhaust sounds anything like the STi version, I'm definitely in for one. By single, do you mean single sided? Or single tip on each side? I just like a single tip on each side, much like your original picture. Cat delete only if it makes it sound like those videos. LOL

eight_six 05-14-2012 09:06 PM

i'd personally like a single exit out the passenger side

sadly, i dont think so. TRD has a "stencil kit" to cut it, and i looked at my car and it doesnt look like it will pop off :(

I thought by dual tip that he meant one on each side. Quad tip would be two on each side. Dual tip is the same setup as stock.

I'm an idiot, i meant quad requires cutting (driving my FRS arround has left me in la la land, that's my excuse)

Lol that's a good excuse, wish I had the same one!

Dimman 05-15-2012 12:27 AM

So is this going to get us 15 peak whp and 10 peak lb-ft to the wheels like the AP2 system claims?

kayen 05-15-2012 08:02 AM

I would prefer a Single exit exhaust to reduce weight and no preference of which side it exits as long as it's the most functional

Bah, please remove the music from the videos. So aggravating trying to find the 20 seconds of exhaust audio in that nonsense.

mines13 05-15-2012 11:49 AM

Obligatory dolphin tip thread spam:

I would love to see a standardized front pipe, with the option of going
single or dual exit to save cost/weight for track guys. Simple clean
stainless for a good cost to weight ratio.
http://www.aj-racing.com/ajpwr/AP1/T1R70REM-15.jpg

For those that care more about symmetry and ascetics, the same front pipe would be used, however customers could select a dual muffler option.

http://www.aj-racing.com/shop/image.php?type=D&id=400

Basically, you do this so well already. Would not be reinventing the wheel. Maybe you would do yours with a centralized muffler similar to the stock layout, but with the same sort of tips you have on this AP1/AP2 exhaust. With a shorter single oval can for the single with straighter piping and possible a slight angle exit.

Building something too conventional, like Fujisubo, Greddy, HKS, etc. would be too easy and just saturate the market with another "me too" product, your S2K dolphin tips brought me back to your company TWICE for my S2000 exhaust systems.

ichitaka05 05-15-2012 12:03 PM

First, welcome to the forum. Glad to see hearing member's feedbacks.

As for me, I like single tip. Having symmetrical is nice & all... but function > look for me.

whitejdm 05-15-2012 12:09 PM

I had T1R's response header/test pipe and B-pipe on my Type R and honestly it was the only N/A mod I have EVER noticed on my butt dyno. Great quality and fit also.

Hope they do a single exit EM-70 style exhaust!

Personally, I agree. I went dual > single > a different single on my S2000 (3 setups). But having an optional back box for the form guys would be a good way to cover all bases. :happy0180:

Yeah, I have nothing against that. I think, it's a good idea

ZetaVI 05-15-2012 12:38 PM

I prefer single tip. Lighter and more practical for me.

I have arranged the car to come in on SAT to do another clip so you guys will see it by early next week.

Hey Ben, I am Eric remember me? your uncle paul's friend. I work in Regency Scion. Please give me some more information about the accessories for the FR-S most our customer are interest in. Thanks

86design 05-18-2012 05:22 AM

both single and dual with the titanium tips please :D

bigbird83 05-18-2012 05:27 PM

I'm gonna go for function over form with this car. I'd take the single over the dual I think.

dsgerbc 05-18-2012 05:37 PM

No third party dyno - no love.

Turbowned 05-19-2012 10:27 AM

I'd also prefer a single tip; maybe someone can make carbon fiber exhaust finishers, one that covers up the opening left by the other muffler tip, and the other can go over the top of the other opening to protect from soot/buildup. I used to have a pair for my FC3S RX-7 when I scrapped the stock dual exhaust for a single 3" turbo-back. Looks like this:

what a fantastic idea!!!! ALL of the aftermarket guys should make this option!!!! love this idea!!!!!!!!!!!!
