New 10 Series Owner :)

I recently purchased this new 10 series FRS :D. # 1049. //And by recenty, I mean yesterday lol.

M/T, only features it has are Tinted windows, door edge guards (lol....), spoiler.

Got it for 25800~ (Pre tax, tag, doc fees). It had 50 miles on it (I test drove about 15 of them).

My first NEW car ever, I'm 23 (On April 4th), and about to graduate from Georgia Tech with a major in Computer Engineering (August). Got a job as a software engineer lined up with Lockheed Martin in September, so I jumped the gun, bought myself this.

I named her Syl, and her license plate will be "53796C", which is Syl in Hex.

I upgraded from an 05 AT LX civic, so this is my first manual car, i've driven a few before, but I'm a quick learner and I've put like 50 miles on it myself yesterday driving around lol.

I'm happy to join the GT86 family!! Did my research for about two years and had to wait until I could financially afford it.

This might be a bit foward

I'm converting my FRS into a GT86 and the last bit for the exterior that I need are the headlamps, most dealers won't sell them to a customer that doesn't have a 10 series so would it be possible for me to contact you in the future to pay you to acquire the 10 series headlights for me? Welcome to the forums!

FiRStsc10n 03-30-2014 06:27 PM

Are they still strict with monogram headlights?

With both 10 series and monogram headlights my dealership wanted my vin at first but the guy was appeasable but discouraged me from buying them, but he said if I wanted to it would be around $2000 I've heard that if you're a 10 series owner (or monogram series owner the whole process of buying them is simple and cheaper, so I'm interested if anyone who has a 10 series or monogram (they have the leather armrests and frameless mirror)would want to be a middle man for me in the future for this, it's cheaper and easier to install the 10 series headlights rather than the JDM 86 ones

Congrats on your degree and your purchase! I did the same after graduating with a CS degree :p also new to MT.

Entry level engineers seem to have a proclivity for the twins, but all in good taste. Lockheed is a great employer, congrats on your new purchase.

Vracer111 03-30-2014 11:23 PM

Congratulations on finishing your schooling, getting the right car, and your future employment with a really good company to work for.

The twins being the FR-S/BRZ?

And thank you everyone! It's been a blast driving it around. Thats all I want to do, I can't focus on my last few exams just because I find excuses to drive around now xD.

Fellow Yellow Jacket here! Computational Media '11

I was ECE as well, but switched when I discovered my true passion. ;)

Congrats on graduating! That school isn't easy. Give yourself a pat on the back for all the all-nighters you had to pull.

I know plenty of GT alum that have gone the GT86 route -- I'm still actively searching for mine... :)

Hope to see you around campus!

I thought about it but i didn't like the quality especially since the LED strips are not as bright and they shut off when you put your low beams on, I want to use all original toyota OEM parts anyway

BANGER 03-31-2014 08:24 AM

I graduated in Computer Science last year, but I got rejected by all the defense companies here, and still jobless and FRS-less :thumbdown::thumbdown:

Oh well, kudos to you lol . Living my dream.

Haha, are you still hanging around campus now?! I still have two more classes left and I'm currently pulling an all nighter (because mainly I just drove around my new car yesterday and didnt feel like studying).

and @BANGER, I got lucky. Perfect opportunities at the perfect time. I'm sure you'll be living your dream soon enough :D.

Yup. I work out of Tech Square, you'll catch me around in a silver MKV GTI while I search for my whiteout GT86!

PSORngr 04-01-2014 03:15 PM

So you are saying I'm going to have to compete with you for my parking spot? I've only noticed one other FR-S/BRZ in the parking lot here and that was just in the last month (mine is 10 series, other one was dark gray).

Congrats on the car, graduation, and the job. Waiting for the job offer is definitely the most stressful thing with graduating.

Hmm, I've seen a Lava FRS at the CRC parking, I see a white one as well there/around the area.

I haven't seen another 10 series around campus.

Where do you park? I rotate between the CRC and Klaus (pre-8am), I have a temp parking permit and they never check/give me a ticket if I stay in Klaus lol.

ALSO, Phantasy Star Online Ranger?! Is that what your name comes from lol?

Originally meant the Lockheed lot, but GT too I guess. I'm going there part-time for my master's (online this semester since nothing was available on-campus in the late afternoon). Last spring I parked in the pre-pay lot since it was the cheapest. Now that they jacked up the price I park in the lot across the street from health services and the gym. Never noticed another FR-S/BRZ on campus, but I'm only ever there for one class period every other day when I am taking a class on-campus.

Yup. Played that game a ton.

BRZerk 04-02-2014 10:27 AM

dude. awesome. i did something similar. graduated, got a nice job, and within 1 month of starting i was driving a brz limited. oops.

congrats

Even with OEM, the DRLs are shut off when the low beam are in. There is way to mod them so they stay on when headlights are on.

Great. It is your money and you can spend whatever you want. However, just want to point out that you can spend less than $5 to get this works and it is also fully reversible which currently on my car.

I didn't mean that everyone should spend that, just wanted to link it to back up what you were saying (that it's easy/possible to mod it) :D.
